iPhone 4 pre-orders kicked off today and have been causing trouble for Apple's online ordering system which has been up and down throughout the morning. In fact, we are still receiving reports of U.S. customers being unable to fulfill the order forms online.
In Japan, reports indicate that many physically lined up throughout the country just to get on the wait list. Softbank also found their servers struggling to keep up with demand while hundreds stood in line:
Softbank spokesman Furuya Katsuhide said that the better-than-expected demand had stressed the company's systems, which slowed both its website and the reservation process at stores.
Businessinsider also notes lines forming at AT&T stores in the U.S.

I never understood the big deal with huge pre-order sideshows like this.....
Or maybe not the preorder. But everyone and their mother feeling like they have to preorder it the second it opens up. I like my phone.....but for Christs sakes, IT'S A GAWDAMN PHONE!!! If you can't get the preorder, BFD. There will be stock of them in the stores soon enough after they come out...

IDK if it's AT&T's fault, Apple's site is failing at every screen. If you're lucky enough to get past the AT&T verification part then it just fails at the next screen. I couldn't get past the part where you could choose between shipping it to your house or in store pickup. Yes you actually got to choose at 4AM but by 4:05AM the ship to house option was gone. Even then I couldn't get past the choose your store option cause my session expired in 5 seconds everytime.

Because during the summer where I'm traveling everywhere for work, I know I'll be home the 24th. And I want the fucking phone. I do t want to wait til august becuase I'll have no time til then and I can't over night it to a hotel because that isn't how there system works.

AT&T site is down completely right now. I don't know if that will improve matters or not.
It's fucking stupid that even the store verification process is done over html. Good fucking God, incorporate a separate system.
