Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
im aware of contract prices.
why wouldnt somebody just sign a 2 year deal/extension?
that really doesnt explain selling a used phone for a new price, reguardless of somebody needing an upgrade or being a new customer to get it.
the price they sell the phone with a contract is what the phone is worth. the prices of phones without a contract are generally there to detur you from buying without agreement/extension.
what i was getting at is somebody who buys a phone for 299 and then later sells it for 299 cant really justify it by saying "but you dont have to sign a contract"
this only seems to be a trend with iphones, which is why i was wondering.

i guess im just looking from the outside - in.
i've bought numerous 3-$500 phones and just cant imagine anyone wanting to pay me the same price i bought it for.
if you can do it though, more power to ya. i just didnt think people were that dumb.
just a question fellas, lol dont take offense.
i've wondered ever since i tried to buy one used a while back.

the question was geared towards the iphone itself. i explained why i asked about it. maybe its you that didnt understand my question

but thanks.
Iirc 599 no commitment price, ie no contract no upgrade just flat out buying the phone.
499 early upgrade price, ie you're not eligible for an upgrade. Req 2year extension to contract
299 upgrade price, ie you're eligible for an upgrade. And requires 2 year extension to contract.
This is for iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4 32GB

If i wasnt eligible for an upgrade or on a different network, 299 seems like an ok price for a used one.
And it doesn't require a 2 year extension to your contract.

iphone is not supplied to tmobile (no supply)
tmobile users want iphone (demand)
thank you
i say 300..
i have cased mine and with anti-glare film perfectly put on, it looks like it's used for like a month or whatever
i will restore all the games after putting iOS4, so that should make the buyer 300 is a steal

If I could buy a used 32GB GS for $299 and still upgrade to iOS4 and the phone was in good condition, I'd say hell yeah. Most of the comparable Nokias are like $100 -$200 more. For $300 you can buy an unlocked X6 which I don't think touches the 3GS. The Android phones are wayyy to pricey still.
do your balls feel bigger now..

relax..
reguardless of all this, im buying the iphone4... it was just suprising to me when the seller gave me his rock bottom price and i had just saw the price of the new phone.
so getting the new one is a no brainer for me. maybe when the iphone5 comes out i can put it up for sale for 399

lmao
you still don't get it.. ok i'm moving on
i just read about super AMOLED vs retina...
kinda interesting... if what samsung is claiming is true, iphone 4 would have gotten even more efficient battery usage..

the evo is a great phone no doubt.
the screen alone is almost enough to lure you in.
but the touch screen on the iphone has always been smooth and it just feels "right" when using it opposed to these other phones that copy it if you will...
cant wait to see the 4 in person.. its gonna be one crazy release.

Can unlock and use with prepaid cards, no cost for data plan, use with any gsm carrier. The only way to get an iphone with little or no monthly charge is to buy used = high resale price. This is still cheaper than buying some unlocked smartphones new.
I sold my 3g on craigs list in less than 24 hrs for $325. I hope to get more for my 3gs.

keys to press. I upgraded to my current 3GS just a few months into my contract, without renewing. Can unlock and use with prepaid cards, no cost for data plan, use with any gsm carrier. "Uh oh. According to Valleywag, an AT&T security breach led to the exposure of 114,000 email addresses (and associated SIM / ICC identifiers) belonging to Apple iPad owners. A group of hackers calling themselves Goatse Security (be careful looking that one up) figured out a number of ICC-IDs and ran a script on AT&T's site through a faked iPad UserAgent, which would then return the associated addresses. Some of those affected were actually quite big names, including the CEOs of The New York Times and Time Inc., some higher-ups and Google and Microsoft, and even a number of employees from NASA, FAA, FCC, and the US military."
