Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
this comparison says the EVO is 20fps video.. I wonder what the real story is!

3Gs, yes...iPhone 4, we'll have to see, but I'd say the iPhone 4 will trump the Evo in speed now. It definitely has a higher screen resolution now and everyone is saying it's an amazing display. The camera as fewer MP, but that means little. I guess software is up to preference.

How-to: check your iPhone 4 upgrade eligibility

AT&T's made it pretty clear how this upgrade sitch is going to go down for existing customers moving to an iPhone 4 on the 24th of the month, but if you want to double-check and make sure you're good to go (we can't blame you), there's an easy way that was briefly mentioned yesterday: dial *639# on your current phone. You'll be returned a text message from AT&T detailing your situation -- either you'll be told you can get a full upgrade price (meaning $199 / $299 for the 16GB and 32GB, respectively) or you'll be eligible at some particular date in the future. Not all's lost in the latter case -- you can still pay $200 more for the phone as an "early upgrade," which is less than the no-commitment price of $599 / $699. We'll have a more comprehensive breakdown in our full iPhone 4 guide coming later today, so stay tuned!

And
that the evo 4g will trump any iPhone that's out there right now.. Were talking about at best a 1year old phone vs one that just came out..
Doesnt matter...when I upgraded from my 1st gen to the 3GS, they didnt swap the sim. The just do it in itunes to switch and activate.
Been with AT&T for 3 years and done with them. I am going back to Sprint on the EPRP program. The EVO 4G blows the new and old iphones out of the water with features. Plus it doesn't have Apple looking over it's shoulders on all the APPS that won't get approved.
Sprint is still cheaper on their plans vs AT&T. I am just sick and tired of the many drop calls I get and everyone I know with iphones have the same issue. I have had the iphone 3g, 3gs.

Here, Sprint's service is TERRIBLE and much worse than AT&T's. Had them for a week before switching to t-mobile.
Mmmmm damn you Apple, always making me spend money. I imported an unlocked iPhone when the 1st gen first came out... I was prob one of the first few ppl in Canada to have one, paid a whopping $500 for it. I just LOVE the iPhone I don't know why... I typically hate Apple products but I just can't use any other phone other than an iPhone I don't know why...
I just modded it with CF wrap
too

true or false?
If you currently have an iPhone and unlimited data plan, you are grandfathered in. When you purchase the new 4G iPhone, you will keep your unlimited data. No need to worry!
The new 250mb data plan is ONLY for new customers!

I just realized that this Iphone 4 should not scratch so easily in the back
I think thats why apple's case is only around the sides of the phone. And you get to see the nice glass finish on the back.

I got grandfathered in to the $30 smartphone plan and I don't even have one yet. I called Saturday and she put an iPhone IMEI on my account and will call me back tomorrow when I can actually upgrade.
Whiskers, upgrade fee is $18 but that won't get charged until you get your bill. At Apple you pay the cost of the phone at the upgrade price plus tax.
I read that comparo and I saw that the EVO has a bigger screen, higher MP camera, better front camera, MiFi-like hotspot, FM radio (it is hardware
), and HDMI.
. iPhone 4 has bigger storage (albeit fixed), 2 mics, supports n routers, gyroscope. That's it for paper. I say before we starting who the victor is, we actually see some real life usage like how the 4 battery is supposedly the shit.

Another thing I can try is swaping my wife's phone before June 24, sim, Itunes and all and then go for the upgrade. The question is whether the phone or the number is the upgradable part.
Going to ATT today to pre order...Im psyched!
So Itunes will swap the phone number?

yeah its gonna be another crazy one. I know a good number of people who have been waiting for this one. logic tells me this probably applies across the board. looks like i will be pre-ordering on the 15th.
one regret I had with the GS is, I didnt need to get 32gb. Right now, I have 23gb free. And that's after I put some effort in to put some songs on there. For the most part of the time I had the phone, I was at like 27gb free. I didnt even use it. But I know the new one has 720p video and higher res camera, so maybe I should get the 32... hmm.

I'm definitely springing for 32GB, I'm very short on space as it is right now. I wish they had opted for 32 and 64, but I can understand the various reasons why they didn't/can't. I'm sure it will be there in a year.
I hope the overriding factor is that Cloud iTunes is well on it's way.
