Sweet. Now I can get myself a headset capable of producing high quality audio to listen to all my 256 kbps iTunes songs

yes, for now you will have 2 options....am pretty sure that in couple years the 3.5mm will disappear...

also the "better" audio is a total HOAX, the only thing which will happen is amplified volume...

I have the original iphone which came with a dock...on the back of the dock, there is a 30 pin (the big connector) and a 3.5mm jack....

so you could dock your phone and feed the 3.5mm to an input of a device....I have plugged headphones in both options...3.5mm on the phone and 3.5mm on the dock via the 30 pin connector and the 3.5mm from the dock sounded "better"

had more volume basically...everything else felt the same....

You're comparing a new standard thats not even done yet to a 6 year old solution that never advertised that it makes the sound better?

^^^ am sorry I totally wrote that in my sleep and was talking about 2 different things...

What I basically wanted to say is I don't mind buying an adapter for 25 bucks to listen to music in "better" quality...but now you would have to buy a completely different set of headphones which won't work with any other device

Its not like I only use my phone for music...I use my phone and motoactv and my work laptop... So if they have an adapter (lightning to 3.5mm) you can use that favorite pair of headphones and just use the adapter when you listen to music off the phone

I think the question regarding audio quality really should focus on the source.

Will iTunes offer higher quality audio on their music and video from the iTunes store? Will they charge more for it?

Jupiter its funny how ONLY you think am trolling it up in here...

read the previous page or any other post....even in the current post, am not trying to be an ass, am actually trying to convince myself if I should go back to Apple (not that I am not happy with my Note3)....

It almost seems like you are instigating things up here and stirring up the pot...

As I mentioned, the whole point of a NEW connector would be if you ONLY use an iphone all the time....at work I have a windows laptop which DOES NOT have the lightning port...when I go for a run I use my MOTOACTV which DOES NOT have a lighting port....so by buying a headphone am limited to using that ONLY on the iphone...

and its a discussion thread...seems like your threshold is as tiny as...nevermind !!!

It is rumored that they will offer higher quality audio. Dunno if they will charge more or not

someone gets it.

That is the first part, next comes the audio engine, that being the sound being produced from the device - BOTH of these parts need work. And, as long as both of these need improvement, any sound arriving at the headphones is a moot point. Apple music devices have never been known for their sound quality.

Pretty sure they will. And yes there will most likely be an up charge much like when they offered the 256 audio upgrades for a small fee.

And Im going to guess true audio files have been ripping and downloading loseloss top end files for years...and those are the ones who will really buy into this.

me...could care less.

Agreed, the people who care are ripping in lossless, for sure. I think a large part of this is a lack of innovation at Apple leading to the "purchase tech to incorporate to force upgrades" mentality versus the "lets really innovate and create a DESIRE for upgrade" that Jobs espoused. Think of how many people have apple laptops without thunderbolt...

With apple purchasing beats, the rumor is they will up the actual quality of the product.

I disagree with this whole "lack of innovation" BS...You have a huge successful company...you want to expand into a certain area but you are not built up in that place with the right people/experience/equipment...You buy another company that can and absorb it. Its common business practice...its not the first time apple has done it...or google...or MS...or HP....etc etc etc etc

A lot of these "innovations" have come from smart business purchases of other companies.

No. All music is at their current highest quality. Back when apple first offered a higher bit rate they offered a small upgrade fee for people who wanted it per song/album.

I only buy my music from the iTunes store now.

yeah, I think they were just looking for some "hip" thing to latch on to, to give the company some (needed?) freshness.

The big thing about potentially ditching the 3.5mm port is added space for other components or potentially reducing the depth more. Also makes for a cleaner design. Higher quality? As was said, the DAC has never been highly rated.

For iOS 8 beta 2
Safari: According to the release notes, Safari will now block ads from automatically redirecting to the App Store without user interaction. Safari also includes a new pinch to tab view.
FINALLY!!! I HATE when that shit happens.

Ugh, alright. Think I need to update my 5 to iOS 7.

Wifi doesn't work. LTE doesn't work. Battery life is shit. And lots of apps now only support iOS 7+
