I keep getting a "No SIM card installed" error on my iPhone 5 with beta 3. It's never done this before. Not sure if because of beta 3 or simply a coincidence. Regardless, I have to restart my phone three times to make it go away. Happens about once a day. Annoying. Not sure what to do. Heard Apple will tell you to take a hike if you bring in a phone with iOS 7.

Check to make the SIM card is installed ok. You can always put back on 6 and take it Apple.

I popped the SIM out yesterday and all seems to be in order. And yeah I could...just is a PITA to restore and re-sync everything.

Amid extended Apple developer site downtime, users report unauthorized password resets
Reports on social networking and microblogging sites may signal security trouble for the iPhone and iPad maker.

Apple's Dev Center, the members' only area for paid developers, has been down for more about two days, for no given reason. Stating, "we'll be back soon," Apple said the site was "undergoing maintenance for an extended period" on Thursday.

Apple's developer entrance site, however, remains up and working fine.

Friday rolled on, and the site's outage continued. iOS and OS X developers began to get cranky, particularly during a time in which iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks are in beta and remain eager to get their hands on the latest software bits.

Existing application developers are unable to access any part of the developer site — including downloads, help, guides, support and crucial developer tools. More worryingly, developers that need peer-support are unable to access Apple's developer forums, where paid application writers discuss all things software.

According to posts on various sites, iTunes Connect and app provisioning are working fine, but the developer portal site appears to be taking the brunt of the issue.

The site's message changed late Friday to state the maintenance is "taking longer than expected." It added: "If your program membership was set to expire during this period, it has been extended and your app will remain on the App Store."

Rumblings across social networks and developer forums point to concern that Apple may have suffered a security breach, similar to an attack on Dropbox last year, which led to a spam attack on many of its users. The logic is that, by putting two and two together, it's clear that any scheduled maintenance would likely not come at a time during beta testing.

Emergency maintenance, such as to patch or fix a security flaw or lapse, could happen at any time and without warning.

Twitter has also been abuzz with reports that users have received password reset emails, including some repeated attempts, as reports from Neowin and Hacker News noted.

Not every developer has received Apple password resets — whether authorized by Apple, or sent as a result of an attacker or hacker attempting to reset a developer's password without permission

(We also checked other keywords, such as "google reset" and "microsoft reset," and even "account reset" on social media sites, and nothing appeared particularly out of order or worth standing out.)

A number of Apple developers on Twitter responded when asked if they had received a password reset email. This seems to point towards a spattering of password reset emails rather than Apple forcing its users to change their passwords.

Tumblr co-founder and Instapaper creator Marco Arment said in a tweet on Saturday afternoon: "The longer it goes, the more I believe the security-issue theory."

If it’s a security issue: a) this might be a great weekend for 1Password b) I really, really hope the root certificates weren’t compromised

— Marco Arment (@marcoarment) July 20, 2013
But if it is a security issue, there still remain unanswered questions over what happened.

Apple, a company that is notoriously secretive, will have to not only admit to its users what happened to cause the outage and downtime, but also explain in precise detail what happened, when, how and ultimately why.

The unauthorized password reset emails that have been landing in inboxes over the past 24 hours are likely nothing to do with a flaw the company patched in March. A flaw in the iForgot password reset system could have allowed an attacker to reset an account with just an email address and date of birth.

At this point, in true style for the Cupertino, Calif.-based technology giant, it's not saying anything to any effect. We've put in questions to Apple but did not hear back at the time of writing.

Apple 'completely overhauling' developer site after intrusion
Apple's developer website has been down for days, and the company has just confirmed in an email that "an intruder" attempted to access personal information from its registered developers. In the email sent to its developers, Apple writes that "sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed." But despite the claim that no sensitive information was stolen, Apple warns that some developers may have had their names, mailing addresses, and email addresses accessed in the breach.

During the downtime, Apple indicated that the site was undergoing maintenance, but did not address malicious activity — leading some developers to question if the site had been hacked. As Neowin reported on Saturday, some developers indicated on Twitter that they had received password reset emails from Apple, fueling speculation that the site had been compromised.

In response to the intrusion, Apple says that it is "completely overhauling" its website, including its developer systems, server software, and database. "We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you," Apple writes, "and we expect to have the developer website up again soon."

We've asked Apple to comment on the intrusion and to clarify the steps it is taking to resolve the issue.

Apple's full email to developers can be read below:

Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed. In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then.

In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon.

They finally legalized that and the screen video recorder. Glad they're loosening up their restrictions.

Did they change something in App store rules or did VLC change something to make it compliant with the App store. If I remember VLC was removed back in the day due to their GPL license being in conflict with App store rules.

VLC got a new LGPL license recently and that's probably what did it.

Apple iPhone activation servers are down
While Apple is still working to bring its developer site back up a week after taken offline due to a security breach, the company appears to be experiencing another problem with its systems today, as a number of MacRumors have reported they are unable to activate their new iPhones. Other reports are showing up on Twitter as the problems continue.

According to one tipster who called Apple about the problem, the company's activation servers are currently down. Another AT&T employee has told MacRumors that AT&T has also confirmed the outage, and posts in Apple's discussion forum offer similar information.

Reports of problems began surfacing nearly three hours ago, and there is no word yet on when users can expect the issue to be fully resolved.

apparently there was code found related to a fingerprint scanner in beta 4. I didnt read the article just saw the headline.

I wonder if they would actually be able to get it onto their home button. That would be pretty legit. I also hope they give access to the devs as well. So banking apps and such require a fingerprint to sign in.

Yea, the radio has been there and is pretty cool. I read about the finger print scanner in the code as well, that would be really awesome and cool to see Apple taking the lead on this (well who knows if they will but...)

I personally don't see any huge difference in the beta 4 but we shall see how the battery fares today.

Getting bored with iOS after having it since 2007. iOS 7 has been a nice refresh but I think I'm going to start shopping Android. HTC One and Moto X might be calling my name. Feels like I'm cheating on my iPhone 5 already...
