I regret getting the iPhone5 and being stuck with it in a two year contract.

Seeing my coworkers with the Note 2, Galaxy S4 and HTC ONE made me hate my iPhone. LOL

the iPhone6 better have a damn 5 inch screen...or bigger...

yeah, unless the new iphone comes with a booty, i think Apple has lost and will continue to lose sales on this....

I was reading that in Q2 2013, the ipad sales dropped 14%....so am hoping the new iphone has something better than "we changed the setting panel because it is sooo easy to use now"....

Let's hope it has a bit more than a convex home button with fingerprint I.D., a new gold color option, new chip, and an updated camera.

Sure it will have a new OS, but Apple needs to up the ante.

Well if they offer both then that's ok.

But for me I never use this as a phone, all tablet. So a larger screen would be welcome.

And I think what they are trying to do with the mac pro is innovative...maybe not groundbreaking, but they are trying to change the way pro machines are implemented.

added features are not innovative...the OG iPhone and the start of current gen of smart phone was innovative, the imac was innovative, the iTunes store, the iPad (no matter how much people argue this one)

Everything has been an evolution.

fingerprint tech...that could be innovative pending how its implemented.

And I've used android. Its not for me.

^^^ am sorry but I honestly think the hardcore iphone fans are tooo blind to notice...

one advantage with Android (which is a disadvantage as well) is since the hardware and software are not built under the same roof, we see twice as many innovative features....

watch this video....

you have hardware upgrade (not innovation)
OS upgrades (innovations like Google NOW/Voice search/commands/etc)
Hardware innovations

check this one as well

and this one

I can go on allll day....

I was an Apple fan boy, i really was, but I just dont see the innovation anymore....I hope the new iphone proves me wrong...

Again..I don't view new features as innovating anything...they are just features. And the reason they are blasting out like crazy is because companies are rushing to try and get patents on them. Its ridiculous.

There are pluses and minus of an open ecosystem...not all the phones have the same versions of the android OS, each version does something different and interacts with OS's different and each maker implements the OS differently (amazon vs samsung, etc), reliability based on how much in depth tweaking you do, if you're that kind of tech nerd. And android is a pain for full on integration into the apple ecosystem. But people also enjoy the openess of the OS for whatever customization they get, which is fine, but I bet 80% of those people claiming that are not power users and barely ever truly customize anything.

Many people are saying they are done with the iphone because its become "stale" to them....well thats goody for them...I dont have a million apps, I dont live on my phone 24 hours a day. I have specific uses and I want it to work when I need it and with in the computer ecosystem I live within. So, I'll gladly take the "boring" OS.

And while I don't disagree that some of these new phones might outperform the iphone in some regards...it will never trump the reliability and "it just works" functionality of the iphone in the apple eco system. To me, that is THE most important thing regarding the phone...I don't care about the other shit aside from a good camera, its all convenience.

I almost never have to think about backing up, syncing, or worrying about my phone, iPad, and computers because I live inside the apple ecosystem and their services...it works flawlessly for me and I won't change it for anything.

People can use and like android, or winOS, or blackberry...Its all up to the user and the experience they need.

My point is don't confuse "neat" features and true innovation.

^^^ so tell me again how your contacts are backed up?

you talk about convenience, I agree, I add a contact to my phone and if on my laptop the CONTACT IS RIGHT THERE ....its like magic....i dont need to pick up my phone to grab your email id....

I dont remember when I backed anything up as well....its soo seamless with google...I thing I think messes with my everytime is my music, i wish music syncing was less painful....i miss that about Apple....

and the air view or the hand gestures, I consider that as an innovation....the 13mp camera vs the 8mp is a mere upgrade....

I think air view and hand gestures are parlor tricks at the moment...and most reviews seem to agree...they were rushed out...like I said, to rush try and grab the patent.

I don't like google for an overall ecosystem...I think they are a lot dirtier playing company than they try and let on in some ways. And I dont love their interface for most of their things. And it feels spread out.

If I add a contact in my phone - its immediately on my computers and my iPad....same goes if I add a contact to any of those device. Same goes with calendar, reminders, etc.

Music, itunes match works great. I no longer have to have the files on my phone or computer...havent for over a year now, never had an issue, love that.

Phone and iPad back up to apple's cloud every morning before I wake up, I never have to think about it.

Pages keeps all my docs in apples cloud, quick to access from anywhere if need be.

Since the iphone is on the cloud and itunes music I have no real need to sync with my computer anymore...but the phone does connect automatically via wifi whenever I open itunes.

Photostream...I can just open iphoto and import everything from the cloud...and with iOS7 that will work for video, too....but I use lightroom, so for that I still have to plug my phone in for back ups..though photos back up to apples cloud, too.

And I can do all this without having to hunt for 3rd party apps that allow play between devices (something I had to deal with with my in-laws galaxy S2's and their macbook) and can a be giant, slow pain to use.

Basically, the phone (and the computers and iPad) play together with no issues, and I never have to think about it or worry.

To me thats priceless.

I remember the days of the Treo and what it took to get the them to talk to the Macs...pain in the ass. And my experience with my in-laws android phones leave traces of the same taste in my mouth...it might not be as much of a pain with clouds accessible to people...but at this point any extra steps...especially 3rd party, that have a chance to fail or cause a headache are not worth it to me.

I'm happy with my full on compatibility. Have never had an issue.

Its all personal preference.

Sarclacc.....everything is on the cloud, so you are not getting any added features from iphone....

all of my contents books/music/images/videos EVERYTHING is on the cloud....

to me whats priceless is, as i mentioned, if I take your email id on my phone and I go to compose you an email the VERY NEXT MINUTE from my laptop or a different device, your email is right there....i dont have to go looking for it....all backup is instant...its almost like you are editing the contact on the cloud storage and not your phone....the iphone you have to wait until the night auto backup feature....

well sounds to me like you have a personal problem with Google...and am not going to debate on that....I like the product....

finally on the air view and hand gestures, I agree, they are just simple tricks but in the long run this might develop into something BIGGG....thats what an innovation is

This is not true at all. If I send an email on my iPhone it's live anywhere else in the ecosystem instantly. Macbook, gmail etc. A great example, I lost my phone while in vegas all my pics from that night up until when I lost it were sitting in my photo stream when I got home and used my ipad to try and find it.

i think you're confusing "phone feature" with something called imap.

I am referring to a full system back up. Like a time capsule back up.

Has nothing to do with what you mentioned. The iphone syncs across the board with all devices the same you are trying to say yours "back ups"

Again you mix terminology...system syncing and back ups...just like features and innovation.

Good lord Anil... IMAP has been around forever. lol

I agree with Sarlacc though. Features are not innovative. The next big innovation I see possible taking hold is Google Glass. That could, one matured and refined, take over a lot of things.

umm i know about IMAP....

but yes I think I confused myself between Backup and Sync....with Google its technically the same thing

agreed on google Glass as well....

and am pretty sure the hand gestures and voice commands which I mentioned as an innovative feature, will help make the innovative product more mature and intuitive....

Not really.

Yeah my iphone syncs everything to the cloud instantly...and therefore its always "backed up"

But the morning back ups I have scheduled mean if I ever lose my phone...or have to wipe and reset it...I can instantly load the back up from the cloud and walk away as if nothing ever happened...all my texts, all my settings, etc. Its a little different than my contacts, calendars, music, and emails always syncing.

all images/videos/contacts/calendar events/apps/music/settings/everything is synced instantly...hence backed up instantly with Google...

I think the reset the phone option is where I would give apple a bonus point....stock rom in Android does not do that (atleast not that I know of)....you need a custom rom/app to do that....

I bet this iphone announcement is going to revolve more around the 5C (cheaper) iphone.

I'm a little curious why they are doing this as of now though. When the 5s comes out, that will be $650 unlocked/$200 contract right? What does the 5 usually drop to at this point? $450/$100?? I dunno the trend but thats a guess.

So is the 5C gonna have the same internals as the 5s and just be plasticky? Because if the internals aren't as good as the 5s to make it cheaper and it has a plastic back, why get that phone when you can get the 5. Unless it undercuts the 5 also. Thats a different story then.

also you guys complaining about the backing up. Its pretty much the same either way, except I dont think android does text messages. It does do settings and wifi pw's and such. And if devs opt for it, app data, but I dont think many have or they just use their own servers so when you log in its there.

SD....as far as I read (the rumors)....the Iphone 5 will have 2 variants (and 2 more for storage under them)....

so will be a 5c (cheap) with a 16 and 32gb memory....most items like processor and stuff will be from the Iphone5

then a 5e (expensive) with a 32 and 64gb memory....newer better processor/etc....

pricing wise it think it will be 200 and 250 for the cheap and 300 and 350 for the expensive ones....

again these are the rumors which I have been hearing/reading on various websites....

yea but if the 5C is gonna have similar 5 internals, why would you spend that much and not just get a 5 when its got a much more amazing design.

That was the point i was trying to make

if its true, it just doesnt make any sense. their current last year's model already creates this cheaper alternative market.

well the nexus 7 really just added in a better screen processor and made it thinner with 4.3 which didn't add much the user will notice. I think the N5/KLP will get the big applause.

What if the leaks we were seeing for the 5C were actually the 5S in its new form factor I just dont see where the 5C fits in haha
