Im gonna get he new iphone 3G in a month but i am afraid its too fragile for me does anyone have any suggestions for me on to what kinda case i should get that will decrease the chances that i will break the phone beofore 6 months??
There are 100's of cases for it...
I have this one, and really like it. It's a hard leather on the back so it doesn't get stuck in your pocket like those silicon ones.

I don't have mine wrapped up and I've only dropped mine once and I don't have any dings on it. I came close to dropping it a couple days ago and I caught it before it hit the ground, it happened in slo motion and the people around me just stopped and was like NOOOOOOOOOOOO......
luckily ive only dropped mine on carpet.
and i felt like such a fool when i dropped my friends iphone at his house.
and i have the bestskinsever skin on my phone, i just want the scratch protection since whenever im outside i have a kung fu grip on the phone.

The first day my friend got her new blackberry she was so excited and she gave it to me to look at. The moment she handed it to me I dropped it during the handoff!!! Again it happened in total slo motion, I felt so bad. She cussed me out...
had to chime in here, there are traces of changes in the baseband if you take it in for warranty repair at a genius bar. i restored my jailbroken iphone and took it to an apple store in san francisco because my power button stopped working, they pointed out the baseband change and told me good luck. i was watching him do it as well, it's all a matter of them spotting it themselves once they plug it into their software, but luckily, it's only one line changed in a page full of data logging. unfortunately for me, the employee caught it. the lenient ones just plug it in and walk off and wait until it's done doing what it does. i tried my luck and went to the apple store in sacramento and the employee there replaced my phone under warranty, no questions asked. sacramento apple store ftw.

I've had my 3G for exactly two weeks, and overall I am very happy with it. My biggest issue is that Safari keeps crashing roughly every other day when I'm looking at forums.
Oh, and not having MMS is pretty lame too...
I've also been thinking about Jailbreaking it, but I'm not so sure anymore after reading XjoEnX's post.

safari for me crashes every once in a while, it only happens when im loading up a page with alot of graphics or what not, i read its because the iphone doesnt have enough internal memory.
Well its too late to go back for me... What about the baseband is it that voids the warranty? When I was jailbreaking I kept reading about this "baseband" thing being an issue for those who wanted to use the phone on another network after updating to 2.2 but I'm a complete n00b when it comes to this stuff and just did it anyway since I was already on AT&T

i bought a sleeve case for it. it's a (fake) leather case that the phone goes into.
i don't mind having to take it out everytime i want to use it.
no scratches on the screen so far. *knock on wood* but i do have some scratches on the back.
luckily, i've only dropped it indoors on carpet.

Just FYI for any iPhone users.. I recently had the bottom 2/3 of my screen stop functioning from a touch screen standpoint. I purchased my phone during the original launch over year and half ago. I don't know if this is a know issue or what but Apple replaced my phone even though I was well out of warranty.

firmware 2.2.1 was released today. I has improved general safari stability. Supposedly. I'll give it a shot but I'm not expecting much. FYI I had safari crash on me 4 times today before I just gave up, it's very frustrating...

It really sounds like you have a issue with another app that's causing crashing to safari. When you first started having this issue did you uninstall whatever apps you recently loaded?
I browsed AZ for a couple of hours straight yesterday, all while texting and jumping on youtube frequently. It only crashed when I went to my room and decided to load a page using Wi-Fi
I turned it off afterwards and kept using 3G without any issues.

i hope they fixed the issue where when you save an image from a website and look at it in camera roll or wahtever it doesnt show up right, its like it took a tiny thumbnail and blew it up.
So I just updated to 2.2.1 and I saw something interesting after I updated. A dialog box popped up and ask if I wanted to send info to apple about any apps crashes I had. There's a show details button and when you click that it shows you all the files it sends to apple for each app crash and for safari there are 46 separate instances of crashes since early dec 08. Oddly enough the 4 I had today weren't in that list so make it 50 even, or about one a day.
