On my way to the Apple store!
My workaround is to hit keypad after I answer the phone. Beeping on a number is better then the mute.

^^ wont be for long, its already proven its capable of doing it over 3G...

fring has already managed to use their app to do video calling over 3G

and the fact that my 3G is faster then the wifi i catch here at work tells me that it will work beautifully.. b/c my wifi is shit at work and facetime works with no hiccups.

Can't you guys lock the phone after answering? I lock the phone when I use my headset since I'll have it in my pocket. I normally don't talk with my cheek touching the phone. I tend to have it away from my face but they can still hear me.

I bet apple will come and saw that the people with PS issue are just holding it wrong and you're not supposed to hold it to your face or that they should buy one of the many bluetooth earpieces to fix the problem.

Yesterday, while at work, I was using the iPhone Configuration Utility to uninstall an application so that I can install a new version. While uninstalling the application from a couple devices I received this error message that had me

This is proof positive that the iPhone and iPod Touch can fail!!!

Sent it in to engadget to see if they'd get a laugh out of it.

Well the genius said that Apple is aware of the PR issue and he said they think it's a software problem but I told him I still want to exchange the phone cause my phone is unusable. maybe I'll get the God phone meant for Sarlacc

I asked about your BT issue, I believe I described it correctly and he hadn't heard anything about it, so I guess you're SOL

Whiskers did you try deleting your phone from the car and repairing it with your car?

I've got no issues with my 3G S and 4 after updating to iOS 4 in my 07 TL

Well actually that's a lie.

One issue I've always had since the original iPhone and 3G S and 4 is when I dial out on my phone, it doesn't switch over to handsfree link, it tries and I guess fails and switches to the iPhone. I have to manually switch it to handsfree link :thumbsdow

Could be an issue with acuras handsfree link thou, cause my mom has no issues in her 2010 altima

That's more of a Gizmodo thing than Engadget.

Doucher, I think the PS sensor thing is a hardware issue. I haven't seen that at all on my phone.

I wonder if they fixed it on the second batch.

actually.. if you have headset (wired), locking the phone won't hang up the call
no wonder i never saw this happen

it totally makes sense though..
if you are not on headset, you have proximity sensor to have the LCD go off.. so locking the phone should hang up
if you are on headset or speakerphone, which both i just tested, should lock up the phone and you should still be on

^My 3GS hangs up if locked but WITHOUT the ear buds plugged in. If the earbuds are plugged in then they won't lock.

yes 3GS will hang up if locked without headset connected

but it totally makes sense though.. why would you lock it if proximity sensor takes cares of it?

and if you are on speaker phone, it will lock the phone without hanging up

No, the pair does work sometimes and it will pair if I hit the connection.

If it matters my friends with iPhone 4s didn't have call issues so much but the bars indeed dropped when they didn't have the bumper case. Not sure if they had any other issues. The Droid Incredible is still the fastest phone I've ever used, but the i4 has the best screen.

Hopefully the white iPhone 4s are a new batch dunno if I want a bumper case. It's nice looking but overpriced and it offers very little/no protection. As usual if anything I'm going to get a silicone case.... nothing like dropping a phone from waist level, having it bounce a couple of times and still have the case look like brand new without a single scratch on the phone.

you need to press the lock button when the phone is away from your face first

i like my bumper case
it protects your side metals (or whatever component it is) and it saves you from "death grip"
sure it won't protect from dropping to a concrete, but it does its job when it's placed on your desk or table..
also you really need to worship your iphone 4 and never ever ever ever drop

i think the flat rear side of iphone4 looks better than any of its previous ones, and bumper shows it off well

but i do miss seeing the metal sides... it looks so much better with no case at all.. but im too scared of damaging it.

True.... iPhone 4 looks sexy with or without the bumper case though. I just hate how most hard cases get scuffed really badly when you drop it. Better the case than the phone though.

I miss my old, old, old Samsung D500. Sexy as hell and you could drop it and anything short of dragging it across sandpaper, it wouldn't scratch. I'd still have it if my sister didn't give it away to one of her friends without telling me

Are there any static based screen protectors for the front and back of the 4?

Really really need it.

I should wax this with some turtle wax so it doesn't scratch
