I need to get a screen protector for the front and back. Getting spider webbing on the glass like you would on the paint job on a car

The only issue I have is that it occasionally locks/freezes up for a few seconds and then resumes what it's doing.
And when I turn back on 3G from edge, it sometimes doesn't turn back on. I have to go back to the menu and switch it again.

This proximity sensor is driving me up the fuckin wall today!!!!!!
Every fucking phone call I was on today I kept hitting speakerphone and then the numberpad and somehow I was looking up contacts! Then the damn antenna issue I had people complaining that they couldn't hear me and I was breaking up and it goes away as soon as I remember I can't hold this phone the way I naturally want to hold it!
I'm really starting to think about returning this phone, IDK if the screen and camera are worth this bullshit!

While we wait for a full, no-strings-attached jailbreak for the iPhone 4, let's turn our attention to the other important matter of unlocking, shall we? iPhone Dev Team member planetbeing is teasing the world with a picture of an unlocked AT&T iPhone 4 being used way up north on Canada's Bell -- and while we don't have a timeline for a release just yet, this should be particularly exciting news for Canadians who don't have much interest in waiting any longer for their version of the phone to officially arrive. We'll update you just as soon as it's available.
[Thanks, Brad]
Update: Numerous readers have written in to remind us that the above image isn't proof of an unlock, since an AT&T iPhone can roam on Bell. True -- but considering how this is coming straight from an iPhone Dev Team member, we're going to stay optimistic.
Update 2: Planetbeing has uploaded a video of the carrier unlock (embedded after the break), but he confesses that the existing build "sucks." A cleaned up version should be ready for mass consumption shortly, though. [Thanks, all!]

Well if you wait it out you end up getting stuck with it and I can't live with my phone acting like this.
I just booked an appointment at the genius bar so I'll see if they'll replace my phone cause of the proximity sensor and I'm gonna bitch about the antenna too while I'm there though I don't expect them to do anything

I might be getting an iPhone 4 sometime next month
its probably too soon for them to fix those issues (if they're hardware-related) but...
I was thinking about getting a white one, anyone with a white 3G/S chime in? I've heard from a white 3GS owner that scratches show a lot easier on the white ones.... but the way conventional thinking goes, a black car shows scratches a helluva lot more than a white one

No clue how you guys hold your phones, but I always hold mine straight down from my face anyway. I dont press the whole thing to my cheek, hate that. So, never any issues...never even looked to see if my PS is working right or not.
As far as attena issues go...still going great, no problems.
My mom just got one this week...when I was at the Denver airport on Sunday with free wifi I had a facetime chat in the terminal waiting for my plane...it was awesome.

Since I've had mine a week, here's my views on it:
- The wifi signal issue is finally fixed. Thank the maker. Having wifi at work is finally not a dicey proposition.
- This thing is quick as fuck. I'm coming from the 3G, so that should be expected. But stuff that would frequently crash before - TW Golf, FIFA 10, the Apple Store...all fixed. And did I mention quick?
- I'm still getting used to folders, but it's growing on me. The interface is pretty slick, much better than the JB version.
- Speaking of JB, the only thing that I really miss is SBSettings. Having a custom theme would be nice, but if it's the price I pay I'm fine with it.
- The bumper is great, and it sucks at the same time. I hate that it hides the most aesthetically pleasing feature of the phone, and you can't quickly identify which side of the phone you are using without feeling for the camera or home button. Maybe it's something I'll get used to, or put a glossy screen protector on one side, matte on the other.
- The Nike+ sync issue sucked. No other words for it. After trying to reset the sensor for twenty minutes, I finally got the phone to pair up with it. But there's still a whole heap of issues that the Nike board is talking about, including not saving your workouts. I really hope there's a fix in place for 4.0.1.
- The alarm snooze feature was tweaked slightly, and it took me almost a full week to get used to it. My wife was greatly annoyed.
- Did I mention how quick it was?
- Multitasking is okay. Haven't used it that much, because I can't tap into the work wifi for streaming music.![Bored](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/bored.gif)
- Unfortunately, I still can't get a signal in this hole. I've actually noticed worse coverage in marginal places, such in the lobby of our women's tower, where I frequently go to <del>check out all the easy ladies</del> grab some lunch. However, dropping calls still isn't an issue for me.
That's my limited review. I like it. I wish I liked it more, but I think that's a function of what I paid and it really just being an upgrade, not a new toy. And I think I figured out part of my Photobucket problem - I was using a 1.x version of it. For some reason, it never updated to the 2.x version.

my fiancee is getting the white now, so we can just swap whenever.. until the woman in her kicks in and she messes one up, then shes stuck with that one.

Oh, I can replicate the antenna issue when my case is off, so it is real.

I hold it to my face, like a phone. Its not hit or miss, its all the time. I have to use bluetooth or speaker or else I mute the call. And the bluetooth autopair is real, both my wife with the ios 4 and 3GS and me with the 4 have the same issue in two different cars, bluetooth not connected unless we go into settings and click on the paired item.
Im not returning because I know enough people have the same issue and it will be fixed.

When I drive the pathfinder I use earbuds. I try not to use the phone to my face anyway. Brain cookers. But when I do I have no problems.

Nifty.
FaceTime video call works beautifully on airplane's in-flight WiFi (video)

Yeah, seriously. While Aircell's Gogo in-flight WiFi service has been blocking VoIP calling services (Skype being the most obvious example) from day one, it's apparently not throwing the same brick wall in the face of Apple's new standard. Our good pals over at TUAW managed to record a (relatively) solid two minute FaceTime conversation with an iPhone 4 owner, and only after you realize that said owner is a few thousand feet above the Earth's surface does this all become a lot more interesting. We know for a fact that certain iPhone 4 owners have had difficulty with FaceTime conversations when using highly firewalled access points (like those found in hotels and corporate offices), but it seems as if seat 16A is cleared for transmission. For now, anyway. Head on past the break to peek the FaceTime ad that Apple forgot to make.
