Apple: iPad News and Discussion Thread
I just had a
idea! Can you guys with the camera connection kit test this please? I shoot video on my iPhone because I don't want to carry around my iPad and look like an idiot recording with it. Is it possible to plug in an iPhone into the usb port on camera kit and have it show up in iMovie on the iPad and import video off of it? If it does, I'll buy one right now! Someone check on that prease! I'd rather shoot on the iPhone and edit on the iPad.

If they don't then they need to, if you can import for other companies devices then you should be to import from their own devices. Especially when they talk about how great the iPhone's camera is and how great it is to edit videos on an iPad. Seems like it'd only take a software update to enable that if it's not there. The iPhone shows up as a camera on Windows and OS X so why not iOS?
I feel better now.

Photo Transfer is what I've always used. Just for photo's, but it'll do video as well. I have used it to transfer via bluetooth takes longer, but works.

The iPad Camera Connection Kit includes two accessories for importing photos and videos:
Camera Connector: Features a USB port to directly connect your digital camera using its USB cable.
SD Card Reader: Features an SD card slot to directly connect an SD card.
In addition to supporting digital cameras and SD cards, you can also import photos and videos from youriPhone*, iPod touch, and iPod nano (5th generation) using the Camera Connector.

So yes, apple does actually allow that kind of user convenience....

I use it on my iphone at least a few times a day, to check my home computer from wherever. The Facebook app is so gawd awful slow it's actually faster to remote to my home computer with TeamViewer and check facebook on there.
. Even on 3G.

I tried my Samsung Galaxy 7 Plus yesterday again. Facebook sucks so bad on it, I want to flush it down a toilet.

Or what I do, create a bookmark to the desktop site and just create a bookmark shortcut to it. Facebook has no interest in making their mobile apps better because they don't money off them. No ads are displayed in the mobile apps. They make money when you visit their website so they want you to do that.
its slow as molasses on mine. been that way for years.
edit: it WAS responsive and usable at some point, probably around 2008 or so. then after one big update, it became slow. and has been slow since then. and this is a user experience that I've seen echoed from numerous friends.

mine takes about 1-2 minutes before I can actually start using it. it just kind of sits there, locked up. and then, if I click on a photo or anything, nothing is refreshed and current. its all on old information. I have to manually refresh everything generally to get it to sync up. really annoying. maybe I should show you.

Hell I get that using my home computer. I tells me I have new message, but I don't. It tells me I have 20+ in my family or local group, but I don't.
hate to threadjack but the FB messaging system is a different beast. I have trouble with that too but it's of a different size and scope. but on my home computer the notifications are spot on, and updated in real-time. pretty much never have a problem with that.
ALSO, I am only talking about when I am on Wi-fi, my iphone is not too useful on 3G over here. it's often downright useless.
