If you can get the 4XL for a really good deal, go for it. But if it were my money, I'd just go with the 3XL.

Hold out for Black Friday and see what deals are out there for it.

Deals are already out. $200 off the P4XL, P3XL for $535 through Amazon basically makes it a $150 gap. My gut tells me it's worth the $150 but I'm not sure.

$200 off isn't a really good deal imo. Something in the $500 range for the 4xl is

Can someone recommend some Android phones that are equivalent to iPhone X? Not 8 or 11. Targeting this price range today. Don't need the newest.

My uses are:

- phone
- web search
- youtube
- camera/video
- water resistance (incase I dropped in it the bathroom sink.)

I would say my Google Pixel 3XL is very much a good equivalent to my wife's iPhone X

Yeah Pixel 4XL since iPhone is $$$ as well as newest Note and S models for Sammy. Other than that maybe the OnePlus 7T?

As expected, there's a new black Friday deal on the 4 and 4XL for new and existing Fi customers:

The downside is it's a statement credit towards usage only, and with my current usage, it'll take me about 17 months to get the full refund.

Sony Xperia 1

Like the reviews said, it's a large phone that one can still hold in one hand, because it's long and narrow. That's great for movies in it's true ratio. It's different.

Will that get old? Anyone own one and can share real life experiences of living with a Xperia 1? I imagine it won't fit comfortably in my front pocket. And may fall out from the back pocket because it sticks out so much.

I think some Samsungs are shaped like that. Why Sony?

Why Sony? No reason, other than everyone has a Samsung or LG.

I have a Pixel 3. Lots of deals for 3 and 3a. I'd recommend those before a Sony. Superior camera and cheaper from deals I saw.

Anyone have a recommendation for an ad blocker for Android? I use chrome on my pixel 2 and the ads are getting out off control. I don't want to have to use some new browser if that's possible.

Any recommendations?

Ended up grabbing a used P3XL off of Fbook marketplace for $300 in great shape. I'll rock this for a while until the P5 shows up and make a call at that point.

AdAway works pretty well, but you have to sideload it, Google pulled it a while ago.
Pros: it works pretty well, doesn't require root
Cons: when it blocks ads the black space where the ad would have appeared is still there

If you're rooted, you can install Xposed framework and download the Minminguard module.
Minminguard works beautifully and even removes the empty space that blocked ads
would have occupied.

Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL on sale on T-Mobile. Only 64GB available though. But its about 50% off.

Should I get it? My HTC U11 is starting to show signs of old age. The wireless pay stopped working a few months ago, I assume because of old software/hardware.

I'd take the 4 over the 4a. My biggest concern is with the 64GB. Price is very tempting, but only if they had the 128GB version.

New Sammy's announced and the specs are insane as well as the price. Too bad I'd only get $300 for my Pixel 3. Depreciation as officially hit.

12GB RAM, 4000mAh battery

The S20 Ultra is ridiculous in all the wrong ways. It can be had with 12gb or 16gb of RAM. A 108mp rear camera and a 40mp front facing camera. And a 5000mah battery.

Starts at $1400. Who actually buys these?

Look at this. Are these not "high spectrum" 5G phones, where the phone is barely faster than 4G?

I'm surprised Samsung was giving me $700 credit to buy their $900 S10 pre-launch. But yeah, there's always some sort of special to get the phone cheap especially if you're flexible porting back and forth to different services. These things are like mini-cars value-wise.
Finally upgraded to A10. Within 2 hours battery went down by 20%. I went ahead and upgraded because my battery is utter shit as I've complained about since purchasing the phone. When I get to 15%, the battery literally counts down to 0 in about 15 seconds. Requested a work phone in the mean time (iPhone) but probably going to have wipe and start fresh and see what happens. So annoying, only one damn year old.

If I recall correctly, the phone you are having battery problems with is a Pixel 3; yes, no? It is interesting because I have had the 3XL for over a year now and have experienced no battery issues at all; depending upon usage, I can often go 4 days on a charge, and three is typical.

A10 has been draining my 3XLs battery quite quickly lately. I take it off charger around 8am, and it usually hits 15% around 13 hours later under normal usage (texting, instagram, facebook, web browsing; ~3hrs screen on time).

My 4XL has no issues though.

Geez, I must be doing something wrong, A10 has had no impact on my battery life.

Welp. A10 upgrade didn't help. Countdown starts in the low 20's. Even 3rd party battery apps don't properly estimate remaining life. It just recalculates each time it ticks down. Time to back up the porn.
