Another thing... I was considering joining a family plan and just getting the Moto X with a contract. However, when you go onto a carrier's website, it's only available in two colors. Kind of defeats the perk of being able to customize your own.

I know someone who has their own store and can get me the phone for whichever carrier, though I'm not sure how to go about this?

I believe with AT&T at least, most likely verizon and sprint as well, you can get a Moto Maker card and just buy that. Then customize the phone on motomaker and i'm guessing you do something that shows you already purchased it. And then it ships it over.

in hangouts,either SMS or hangouts, tap the picture to go full screen mode. once in full screen mode, tap the menu button, it'll give you options to save.

Sony actually uses Dragontrail Glass and not Corning's Gorilla Glass, despite them never admitting to it but always saying that they are not using Corning, yet their glass is shatterproof. Dragontrail's composite is actually tougher than Corning, but as with every drop, bad luck will be bad luck.

The process is more like every year, Google holds a "competition" where any and every OEM is invited to take part in the Nexus program by presenting to Google what they can bring to the table in terms of innovation and design. This can happen in whatever form of mobile device (and accessories) entirely up to the OEM - for example, some don't care to partake in the tablet category. Typically, OEMs will present a prototype device, possible future technology to be included, and other ideas to the Nexus division. Google then picks which ones they like and usually give back feedback to said OEMs about the product. This back and forth carries on for a predetermined amount of time, after which the Nexus division makes up their mind on the final product. After some tweaks and what not, voila a new Nexus device is born, commissioned, then entered into production. OEMs that don't end up getting picked will still end up making their halo devices, which for the most part has a huge resemblance to their Nexus prototype - as evident in those Sony Nexus prototype rumor leak.
In the case of the Nexus 4, LG was the only one that offered some selected tech like Qi wireless charging and that fancy back process. Google liked it, went with it and ta da.

tl;dr: Google never pre-picks which OEM will produce Nexus products beforehand. This also explains why amounts are typically limited because of time constraints.

That Sony Z Ultra looks so good. I wish they announced it sooner and I probably would've skipped getting my Nexus 7 for it. Oh well, maybe next year when it drops in price. Lol. The 7 is plenty fast right now.

Been using my Chromecast a lot recently. Got the new update yesterday and it looks more streamlined but not sure what the buzz was all about when it first started rolling out last week. The TabCasting actually works pretty well for streaming videos. Been watching a bunch of South Park videos on my Chromecast with it. Still waiting for Plex support without the PlexPass because I can't warrant paying monthly or that one time $75 just to stream video off my own PC.

I had issues in Norway, but I think my GPS was confused about the different satellite orientation.

Google maps is by far the most used and important piece of software on my phone. Especially with Traffic.

I'm not sure how true that is, but one of the patents MS attacks on is using FAT on external SD cards. So that's unfortunately a good reason to not allow external SD cards. (I personally wouldn't mind using another filesystem, but I suppose your typical noob might complain).

I lost interest in the Z ultra immediately when I found out it has no flash.
I use the flash as a flashlight a LOT, surprisingly.

Not to mention, at 7 inches long, it's just not pocketable for me.
That's a full inch longer than the note 3.
