Just click on the link from your Nexus and then click on it when its done downloading to install it. You will need to turn on installation of apps from "Unknown Sources" in the Settings --> Security option.

So apparently, multiple user accounts is being coded right now into Android as some devs have seen in AOSP. Today, some devs at XDA figured out how to use some of the early codes present in Jelly Bean to create multiple user accounts on your Android device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1807751
You need root to use it and right now it isn't 100% complete. You can, however, lock down the guest profile using a third party launcher such as Nova and hide certain apps from showing up in the drawer if you want to keep things away from the other users. I can see this being very useful in the Tablets. I'm guessing Key Lime Pie will showcase this feature in all its glory.

I am getting a refurbished Nexus S tomorrow.... whats the best way to dump the info from the old one to the new one?
Also, my GF has been loving her Galaxy S II, so I am gonna get one for myself later this week... The S III looks cool but why waste the extra $100 bucks... LOL

If you have ADB installed on your computer and don't have root, you could use ADB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1420351
Again, avoid restoring data of System files as they can cause force closes, etc.
The S II is still a fairly good phone but I think the farthest it'll get in updates officially from Samsung will be Jelly Bean. Of course, CyanogenMod and XDA will support it for a while though. If you can, get the Galaxy Nexus. Still my favorite Android phone so far.

I use the Facebook app on my Nexus and then Friendcaster on my other devices because I was having issues with notifications. Its like it got confused as to which device to send them to. The downside of doing this is that not everything in your timeline shows up in Friendcaster or any other third party Facebook app because of API issues and privacy settings. Only the Facebook app and Mobile site will show all of your feed.

I think its a problem of being on Facebook on more than one Android device. Try this. Log out of both devices and log in and install the app only on one device.

In a way, it's not really a big deal, because I can still post (some) photos going to the browser, but the mobile version of Facebook, but it doesn't seem to want to upload panoramic photos.

So gonna do an update with my battery life on completely stock 4.1.1
I get decent battery life, but I know it could be better.
7% left with 13.5 hours of use, with only 2hrs and 11 min of screen on time. In that i did a lot of texting, and google+ messenger app. Some fb, instagram, and possible browsing internet, dont remember. Sync is always on for me, same with Google Now.
Here are some screenshots.
seems like the google+ app may be a battery hog, I use the messenger.
See the awake time is basically twice the screen on time. So some apps arent really closing when i turn off the screen, it should though right?? If I can, i can get a lot more battery out of my phone. Any clue how I can go about doing this??
Another thing to note, i'm getting roughly the same battery with JB as with ICS, maybe a ltl worse, but I dont think so.

I think that's normal especially with AutoSync on because your phone is constantly checking for new notifications in the background even while your phone is asleep which causes it to "wake up". Are you getting Deep Sleep? Still using Franco's kernel for my Nexus and its still as good as it was in ICS. Battery life is about the same, slightly better for me in JB.

yea i'm getting deep sleep. I didnt know auto sync causes the phone to actually wake up.

Google Now fully working on any ICS device with root. Just pick and flash via recovery:

^Demo on an HTC Evo LTE.
Tried it on my TF101 and it works but its pretty buggy and the mic on the TF101 isn't as reliable as my Nexus and Nexus 7 so it doesn't pick up my queries 100%.

Nandroid Backups without rebooting into Recovery
Someone created a method to make full Nandroid backups without having to reboot to recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1620255
You will still need to have root but this allows you to open up a terminal and create full Nandroid backups without having to utilize a custom recovery or reboot into recovery so you don't miss a call, notification or something important while you were in recovery creating a Nandroid backup since these take a few minutes to make. Instructions are in the thread on how to install:
Someone created a tasker Profile that automates this process every night while their phone is charging. It can probably be further improved with the process uploading the backup to Dropbox, Google Drive or any online cloud storage you choose:

They should all be the same since they all fork from the same sources. The recoveries just have a few different features here and there but the Nandroid is standard across all recoveries. There are also apps in the Play Store that can extract the data from the Nandroid if you don't want to recover the whole image as well. Search for AppExtractor and Titanium Backup can do it as well.

So I took advantage of Best Buy's special.
Coming from a Samsung Fascinate, I really dig a pure Android experience. Much better than Samsung's overlays. I'm running ICS 4.0.4 waiting for JB to come.
It was between this and the S3, for a free phone 32gb, dual core, I'm more than content. I lived with my Fascinate's sketchy performance for almost two years I think I can survive with this phone for at least the same amount of time.
Zero buyer's remorse, can't say the same about my Fascinate or even the Droid Pro I had for 2 weeks

It's fully backwards compatible with the older tar/yaffs backups.
From what I understand in his explanation, the new CWM backups are smaller and faster because it makes a comparison of previous backups you made. So if there aren't any changes to an app from your previous backup, it skips it and moves on to the next app that has changed data. If it has changed data, it will only update what has changed.

Google released the binaries a few days ago on AOSP so this will most likely be the OTA that Verizon will release when they do.

If you don't want to wait for Verizon to release the update, you can flash it yourself if you Unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery like CWM 6:

I'm still in the honeymoon phase with ICS (lol remember I am coming from GB), probably going to wait for Verizon's OTA even if it is a few weeks/month away.

CM9 Stable builds are out for a couple of devices:
http://get.cm/?type=stable
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/cyanogenmod-9-stable
CM10 official nightlies are coming soon.
http://get.cm/?type=stable
ICS, we hardly knew ye.
Builds for CyanogenMod 9 stable will be rolling out to our servers tonight. As noted before, this will be the end of the line for the ICS branch of our code; only critical bug fixes will be merged moving forward.
As a note, the maguro build from this morning was not meant to be linked publicly. Maguro’s build this evening will be marked 9.0.0.1 to be on par with the other 9.0.0 releases.
Tonight’s release is for the majority of our ICS supported devices, the stragglers will catch up, and we will leave the door open for merging in additional devices from maintainers, external and internal. The team itself, will focus solely on Jelly Bean and maintenance of the CM 7 codebase.
Many have wondered why we bothered to finish CM 9 when we are already active in CM 10 development. To that, our answer is: we don’t like to leave things incomplete. There is no profit gained from what we do, so the satisfaction of completing a goal is our only reward. This release also serves as a release suitable for the masses, especially those who won’t have 100% functioning releases of CM 10 immediately or are averse to anything branded as ‘preview’, ‘alpha’, ‘beta’ or ‘nightly’.
On the topic of nightlies, this release also serves as an end to our CM 9 nightlies, to make way for nightlies chock full of Jelly Bean goodness. A follow-up post will be made when we enable those builds.

Other than free, I just didn't see the S3 as a huge upgrade over what the Nexus offers. Plus a much more pure UI
I drank the kool-aid I'm staying Nexus for my next device too. This is a lot of phone and it will likely serve me well without wanting an upgrade for two years lol.

^ Mine did the same thing. Turn off photo-sync, force stop the gallery, then clear data. Only local pictures should be shown now.
From July 27th until today I've only used ~90MB of mobile data. I use WiFi at home at work. The gallery isnt even on the list.
In that same period of time, Ive used 1.2GB of data on WiFi.
