Just flashed my HTC Ion back to Donut and man has Android changed a lot since then. Lol. Blast from the past. Running DWang's Donut and its blazing on this phone. I guess Gingerbread and above was just too much for this phone.
Flashed the DarkStar theme as well which was my favorite:

I have deep idle turned off too. I am running lulzactive only because it feels faster then ondemand and for some reason I was always getting a weird clipping sound whenever I played music on smartass.
200/1200 here, I typically get about 3 days 10 hours on a charge (3300mAH batt). The biggest thing with amoled devices is using a dark theme. Im running Black Infinitum and aside from saving some battery life, it looks amazing.
Oh, finally flashed the latest CM9 nightly (4.0.4). It took about an hour to settle in, but its definitely faster then 4.0.3.

Yea, Ive noticed that on some builds, 400 min is better since it wakes up faster. Im cool with overclocking as long as I can get at least 2 days from a charge.
I may bump up the min, but Ill have to see how it acts right waking up.

HTC seems to have a winner on its hand here. Seems pretty solid all around and Sense looks less bloated. Some devs on XDA are trying to port Sense 4.0 onto the Galaxy Nexus. Really interested in the performance differences between the Qualcomm and the Tegra 3 chipsets. The Qualcomms should be faster but how much of a difference in real life usage will it be I wonder. It might be like the Exynos and Qualcomm difference with the Galaxy S II variants. That rapid fire camera is really interesting too on the HTC phones. Looks like the Galaxy S III is gonna have to bring in the big guns this time around to impress.

Some people were reporting a few bugs but they were minor stuff like the T9 dialer and lockscreen wallpaper. Also, I'm just waiting for the more stable release since we're gonna have to do a full wipe any way to avoid any FCs:
https://twitter.com/#!/AOKP_ROM/stat...18580539645954
Just make sure to reset your Google Wallet inside the app itself before wiping and flashing another ROM to avoid your NFC from being locked out. At least that's what the guys at XDA are saying.
In the next release of #AOKP, we have many new features, tweaks, and enhancement planned. You will have to wipe to take advantage of them.

I wouldn't wipe now. Wait til the next build. You're most likely gonna have to with all the tweaks they're making. You're fine with B29 I think cause it was a few merges from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 only.

To try to avoid this, before flashing a new ROM please, please, PLEASE: open Google Wallet. Open the Wallet Settings menu. Select "Reset Google Wallet" from within the app. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS SELECTING "CLEAR DATA" FROM WITHIN MANAGE APPS!
The Google Wallet reset system will disable it's background services, reset the secure element by deleting the Google Wallet applet (which is what you want!), clear the database, ping C2DM that it is now deprovisioning, clear the shared preferences, clear files and cache, and finally shut itself down. Clearing data from Manage Apps will only delete the database and shared preferences: it will not deprovision, disable background services, and most importantly will not remove the Wallet applet from the secure element.

It does work on tablets but only in Portrait mode. You have to side load it though because Instagram purposely blocked it from installing from the Play Store.

CG - What kernel do you recommend for the GNex? I rooted my brothers phone last night, installed AOKP and Francos kernel and his battery is draining way too fast - like 10% per hour too fast....

Also, on Build 28, you have to Force GPU as AOKP for some reason doesn't force it by default like the other ROMs. It makes a big difference. If CPU Spy and Better Battery stats check out, Try Imoseyn, Faux Kernel and then Fugu in that order.
Also make sure to update the Modem and the Bootloader using Fastboot. If its GSM, the latest modem version is UGLC1 and latest bootloader is PRIMEXXLA2 I believe.

I put AOKP 28 (or 27?) on there along with Francos v121.
Its getting to deep sleep, but its spending most of its time at peak frequencies when the phone is in use - regardless of governor.
I also noticed that Android OS was at 53% usage
Also, Franco mentioned a program that allows one of the CPUs to turn off when the phone is in deep sleep. Which program is that? Im not very good at init.d scripts, but if I have to, Ill write one to enable it.

Unfortunately, its not free. Also make sure that if you use the Hotplug governer, the Hotplug setting isn't checked. Let me take a pic. AOKP has a CPU Performance setting in ROM Control, try changing it in there real quick to see if it changes. I use the Hotplug governor and uncheck the setting. This turns off the CPU when the screen is idle enough.

Also try clearing out the Cache and Dalvik cache and see what happens.

You know, I think I did see that setting in there.
I think this is important to note, he is on Verizon and I know LTE kills batteries. But in my experience with rooting, Ive typically been able to meet or exceed battery life of a stock rom.

So some devs were able to reclaim some more RAM on the Samsung Galaxy S line of phones and have now pushed it to as much as 402 MB of free RAM from the 512 MB available! For reference, TouchWiz ROMs had about 287-302 MB of free RAM, regular Cyanogenmod Based ROMs had about 337-340 MB of RAM. Unfortunately, 402 MB of RAM breaks 720p video recording and playback of some High Definition content. (Neither of which are important to me as a back up phone/music player). There are different configurations with 379 MB being the highest with all functions of the phone working properly and one at 390 MB with some High Definition content not working but 720p intact:
For the international i9000 phones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1445214
I've been using the 402 MB version and have noticed the phone to be a lot more responsive than before most notably in the browser department where it used to stutter prior to loading a page. Now that stutter is gone. Also, so far only Devil Kernel has this but Glitch and a few other kernel devs are working on implementing this same funcitonality into their kernels. There should be Big Mem kernels available for the other Galaxy S phones as well as they're all pretty much the same hardware wise.
For the international i9000 phones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1445214
For now there are three different RAM versions:
- stock mem kernel has 379 mb ram, everything working
- "slim ics" (XL) kernel comes with 390 mb, this is breaking playback of some high resolution videos
- XL_BM is coming with 402 mb ram, but breaking 720p
(while flashing the kernel, the modded rom files are also flashed, so you don't need to flash a new rom to get 379 or 390 mb)
-added new frequency: 1080 mhz (1100 does not like live_oc)
- fixed SmartassV2 for live_oc (after changing live_oc value, you have to change the smartass values, too, but then they automatically apply to the live_oc value (although you can only select 800 mhz in nstools (for example))
- touch recovery with custom devil menu (for some reason it takes a few seconds to load the first time, missing virtual keys is a warning, because there are no virtual keys yet)
-fast charge, disabled by default.

So I finally updated to Build 30 of AOKP last night which brings my Nexus and Galaxy S to 4.0.4. Overall, coming from 4.0.3, not much difference as I expected. The most noticeable difference is seen when tapping on menu items in the settings as they got rid of the glow effect which made it stutter for a second before opening. Now that's gone, it goes into the menu setting immediately. AOKP also sped up the rotation speed but I'm not sure if I like it too much as it seems like its missing some animation frames just for the sake of speeding up the rotation. Not a big deal I guess.
The Camera does seem to take pictures even faster than before and auto focuses a lot faster on the first shot. When I first ran the ROM, it felt slower than b28 but I think it was caching some files. After a few reboots and running it for a few hours, it feels just as fast, if not faster than b28. Also, had to force GPU acceleration again. Not sure if AOKP leaves it off intentionally on the Nexus but on my Galaxy S, its turned on by default. Its an easy fix either way.

I'm not sure which one he kept but I know he flashed a few ROMs before settling because it didn't feel as smooth as the spare i9000 I gave him. This is probably due to the fact that ICS just barely got released for the SII so the devs are still porting a lot of stuff over to the AOSP based ROMS.
If your friend wants speed and battery, stick to a TouchWiz custom ROM. If your friends likes to play with nightlies and tinker, get any of the other non-TouchWiz based ROMs. I'm guessing in a few weeks, they'll be up to par in terms of speed and battery to the TouchWiz ROMS. TouchWiz 4 isn't all that bad by the way.

Please any advice when bitching to ATT...
I can't talk for an hour with someone 300 miles away and clear as crystal. Then I get a dropped call ever 6 to 7 minutes from somebody 20 miles away.
Is it the cell phone, the network, or their phone, or a combination of all.
The five o'clock rush hour seems to be the worst.

So AndroidPolice covered an app called DataSync which is basically a lite version of TitaniumBackup and free:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/04...tiple-devices/
You do need to be ROOTED to use it but the interface is a lot more user friendly than Titanium Backup. I like it because I don't have to transfer my Titanium Backup files between my devices to sync them up and it works really well over WiFi. The only issue is that it doesn't have the same flexibility as Titanium Backup when dealing with some apps and syncing data. It didn't work for some of my apps but it worked great for most games. Check it out in the market. Its free any way.

Supercurio released a tech demo for Voodoo Display for the Nexus:

Your kernel has to support it and most of them have added support recently. I love his cold display setting as it makes my screen look a lot better with it set and my custom RGB multipliers using Franco's app. Colors don't look as saturated and look more natural now.

Nice. I love his settings on the Nexus S, but supposedly he's working on a new driver for it to remove the green flicker on screen on/off with ICS roms. But the colors are amazing. I dont think I could go back to a standard screen.
