Ya, the Mavs have experience no doubt but OKC seems able to turn on that extra gear. I thought Jet was going to sink that last tre and he even got a 2nd look but couldn't close. Harden and Ibaka can straight up ball and Perkins can clog the paint. The Celts really took a step back when they lost Perkins IMO.
Then again the Spurs' big three aren't any spring chickens and they could run the West if they keep planning like they did down the stretch.
I credit Dallas for playing a hard-nosed series but the Thunder are planning with incentive after last year's conference final.

Melo is hands down a better player than Amare Stupidmire the Knick overpaid for a limited player when they paid Amare 100 mil. They were fooled thinking he would play like he played with the Suns but he has never been one to create his own shots he is very one dimensional. Neither player is an excellent defender but Melo can create his own offense and can close games something Amare can't. In any case these two together is like oil and water they don't compliment one another and until the Knicks move one of them they won't improve for any long period of time.

the Knicks should send Amare to the D(umb)-League for all of next season just so he learns his lesson they will probably play better without him.

Can we just cancel the more boring playoff matchups where the outcome is given and just have Memphis-Clippers or Dallas-OKC to 11? For the Griz-Clips, yesterday's game and the game before it weren't over until they were actually over.
DAL-OKC could have went either way for both games.

LOL QFT from last season. Spurs are balling this year, I could see them going to conference finals. Either them or Thunder, toss-up.
I think Philly takes them, still will be hard fought series though, 6-7 games.
I agree but I don't think Melo's iso play is going to take the Knicks deep into the playoffs. The Knicks were streaky this year but IMO the Lin-Chandler pick-and-roll O is more sound than Melo's iso offense with the other 4 Knicks standing around. His D is a liability, just as much as Amare.
We will see after tonight. It's got to be disheartening to be down 0-2 after the 1st two exciting games. I see Durant and Westbrook going big tonight with Harden putting up 15+.

I think Dallas still has a chance to pull it off especially if they can get their home games. How does the saying go? Never underestimate the heart of a champion? Both games 1 and 2 could have went either way and when the pressure is on OKC will fold they aren't ready yet.

The Knicks will get sweep, if they cant even beat the heat when the heat was struggling 75% of this game, they will never win when the Heat are playing like their normal self. Such a shame , Knicks have so much talent but their chemistry sucks big time.
#1532
That just proves that building your own big 3 is harder that it seems.

^^ some people click and some don't. Lebron, wade and bosh are NOT selfish players and they are smart enough to play well as a team. their chemistry worked.
New York got Carmelo (superstar), Amare (100 million dollar star), Novak ( 3-pointer elite), Chandler (defensive player of the year, and also the league leading feal goal percentage king), etc etc.
If the N.Y players play their part smartly they can contend with anyone in the east but they dont.
#1 Carmelo is a ball hogging whore. everytime he gets the ball, he already made up his mind he's going for the shot regardless of how much difficulty the defenders are giving him. A smart player like Jordan will take it to his opponent, and if he see's he can take the shot he will go for it, if not he pass it when he see's an open teammate ( doesnt hurt that he got pippen(hall of famer) , and steve kerr ( all time 3 pointer percentage king).
Wth Carmelo, he's going for the shot regardless.
#2 lack of communication between the 2 stars. they both are usually the dominate finnisher from their old team, so now their chemistry aint working cause they try to be the alpha male, and that can cause problems.they need to play smart as a team, which aint happening.
#3 the denver nuggets record are better without carmelo, the knicks are better without carmelo, LOL. NUFF said. LOL

Sweep or not we look like ass. This won't fly in the 2nd round.
Coincidentally Dallas looks like it's getting knocked out in the 1st round after their championship just like when Miami beat them in 06 and the Bulls knocked them out the year after.

^^Remind me more of the Pistons....only 1 shot really before teams loaded with talent took over. Not a knock on them, its more a testament to their coaching and front office to add players like they did last year.
They'll be players in this summer's FA market though.
BTW, if everyone keeps shooting themselves in the foot (or attacking innocent fire extinguishers ), playing like ass will fly in the second round.

Stick Carmelo in a Triangle offense, put him on the weakside lowpost, and whatever teams he plays on could be dangerous.
#1538
Well I was wrong I thought the Mavs would have a much better showing at home but unfortunately this series is a forgone conclusion now. BTW if you didn't know that they were playing in Dallas it looked more like a OKC home game with the fans t-shirts the same color as OKC's jersey's.

I really don't see either of those things happening especially since they are away from home. OKC had an outstanding regular season but they aren't as savvy a playoff team as regular season team. Yes they are up 2 games but barely. Dallas is a much more savvy playoff team and unlike the Thunder they don't crack under pressure but we will just have to wait and see.

QFT. Carmelo has always had a "me first" mentality. If he doesn't get his 15 to 20+ shots a game, he pouts and gets angry. Never followed Melo prior to his arrival in NY, but so far I don't consider him anywhere near the caliber of the other NBA Elite.

Lakers need to stop elbowing people lol
I know this one was inadvertant but damn Bynum broke his nose!
Joakim Noah out also, T-Mac almost jacked his ankle, Harringtons nose got broken. I never seen so many injuries in the 1st round. Seems like every night multiple people are getting hurt.

Wow another great game, yea Perkins hurt his hip in the 1st quarter. Could be bad news for OKC they will need him. He will have some time to heal though now.
Well Harden came to ball today, he was killing it in the 4th. Good game, down to the wire, tough loss for Dallas. I feel bad for them, returning champs getting swept in the 1st round, thats always rough.

mavs. not surprised. they didn't seem to have it this season, not as much heart and they are an older team.
Credit to the Thunder though. Good group of young guys. My pick to win it all this season. I really hope they meet and beat the Heat.

yea, if OKC meets the Lakers, they'll definitely need Perk. Hopefully the DEN/LAL series goes pretty long an he'll be back.
GO CLIPS! Another amazing game, I don't think this series can get much better than it has been, but maybe it's just because I am a fan. Crazy that Caron played, they were saying he'd be out 4-6 weeks, but decided to just play through it. Definitely made a statement to the team what it means to play tough. Hopefully the Clips can protect homecourt.
