I think he's surprising Chicago with his insane speed. And he's made some pretty tough shots that I thought had no chance...

failhard.
YES, goddammit. He came out of nowhere and started putting up huge numbers. I'm impressed, but extremely annoyed at the same time.

Granted, he's shining based on matchup as opposed to being a truly great player, but it was a great move to fight speed with speed.
Let's make this Bulls vs. Heat thing happen already, I'm getting impatient.

mmmmmm....
My issue with Piece (and I still resent him for this), is when the Celtics played the Wizards, Pierce actually owned Jordan several times. Actually, every NBA player that matched up against MJ that year wanted to show him up or do well against him. But players were humble about it afterwards, still giving MJ props and saying it was an honor playing with him, etc.... Pierce on the other hand talked shit about MJ and was extremely cocky about the entire thing. I'll never forget that post-game interview.
Why is PP such a bitch?? He is so cocky for no reason..
Maybe he needs to get stabbed 9 times again to shut his fucking mouth.

i'm predicting heat in 6. i don't pull for either team, i just think the bulls are too young and inexperienced unless boozer averages 25/game.

I like this matchup for the bulls, Bulls can go deep at defenders at the wings, and no one on the heat really to check rose. The best defender on rose would probably be wade, but I doubt you want wade chasing rose around all game. Maybe for stretches, but it might hurt wade's game on the other end. The Bulls depth will also wear on the heat. That being said, boozer needs to keep producing and at least play as well as bosh.

^You raise a point about Wade. They say the same about when he covered Ray Allen. As sneaky as Ray is Rose is like 12435235x faster. I foresee Chalmers racking up minutes since Bibby has negative defense. This of course will leave one of our bigs rotating to pick up Rose thus leaving Boozer or Noah open. Both can hit jump shots or drive in. If Joel Anthony gets in foul trouble we are done because Noah will kill Juwan Howard or Z. God I wish Haslem wasn't hurt.

Nice to see Chicago make it to the Conference Finals...what a pleasantly surprising year all round.
Against Miami...it will be an interesting match-up.
But, we all know...Miami will shred Chicago by 200+ points per game and sweep their ways to the Finals. Rose will be lucky to get 2 points.

In all seriousness, I do think Miami has the edge - when Lebron/Wade/Bosh are scoring 60-70+ of the Heat's points, thats tough to overcome.
I call Miami in 6.

The cumulative destruction of Chicago in 2 games will be enough to flow over into Games 3 and 4.

^ I actually really like Chicago (or to be more exact Derrick Rose), and they're a young, athletic, defensive team. I just don't trust the rest of the Chicago team to score.
Chicago's scoring options are: 1. Rose, 2. Rose, 3. Rose, 4. Boozer (if he decides to actually produce), 5. Korver (liability on defense).
I know that Rose's #1 support on offense was supposed to be Boozer, but IMO, he's played like crap except the last game.

Okay...sniping aside, I'd say Deng can provide some scoring as well.

76ers.
Both teams can play smothering defense at times and both teams have some great 3 point shooters but If it comes down to coaching and adjustments then Miami is screwed because Thib will coach circles around Spo.

It'll be interesting. Chicago plays a similar defense to Boston (duh, Thibs)...But, they are younger and faster. And as long as Wade does not channel his inner-NFLness, Rose should have 2 arms instead of 1.
It should be a good one.
Still, Miami in 2.

Good points Yummy and CLpass. Either way should turn out to be an awesome series.
I'm just super happy I can catch game 1 on sunday instead of having to rush home through traffic on a weekday.

Deng is the unsung hero of Chicago. IMO he's #2. He provides consistent offense and defense quietly, so people tend to write him off.
Booz is playing with multiple injuries, so I can understand him playing like crap.

Mobility of the bigs will be a big issue here, IMO. Pick & rolls and kick outs to 3 point shooters will be Miami's problem to solve against Chicago.
Likewise, the ability of Chicago to get offensive rebounds or get back in transition will be a major test of Boozer, Noah, et al....

Miami struggled against a more athletic team like the 76ers so I think they will have similar struggles with the Bulls and the Bulls are better than the
76ers.

Perkins was one thing; having to rely on an injured J Oneal over 7 games and hoping S. O'neal would pan out was a pretty big deficit to come back from.
I'd say the Bulls are the best 'test' the Heat can have at this point, much better than the Celtics or Sixers.
#2754
To add to my post on the Celtics, while I still think its an accomplishment for the Heat to beat Ray, KG, and Pierce, trading Perkins truly struck at their soul, in addition to exposing their lack of depth at that position. So I'm actually surprised the won 1 game against the Heat.
Thought this was great from a Celtic fan perspective. According to Bill Simmons:
They traded toughness and their defensive soul for the future, when what they should have been doing is worrying about the present with the 'Big 3'. Might as well have traded Rondo as well.
Relevant to the Heat, that's what the Celts had over them, at least for some parts of the regular season. The Celtics were battle tested, cohesive, and the Heat were still learning themselves in those situations.

I thought the Celtics had lost their identity, that they believed in two things: their overall toughness, and Doc Rivers' concept of ubuntu (togetherness). The trade undermined both beliefs. They didn't know what they were.

crazy that kristic was the starting center for the thunder and can barely get any court time on the celts when all they have is a shell of J.O'Neal. Yea, Perks isn't putting up huge numbers for the Thunder, but if anyone thinks he wasn't a significant upgrade at center they're crazy.

The best comparo I have for Perkins now for Chicago is Noah...not a huge offensive asset but a beast on the boards and on defense.
Noah does have more speed which he gives up in size (Perkins)...

The Celtics were much better as a team earlier in the season, pre-trade.

okc and memphis in the 4th quarter now. even if memphis loses this series the team played every game really tough. the 3ot game was a heartbreaker. i wonder what this team looks like with gay playing, not like they're ever on tv.
