Admittedly, my attention to baseball has been limited with the NHL playoffs going...but, I'll be back insulting Twip and Red fans regularly once hockey is over.

Gee, and I thought it was just because the White Sox trailed the Twins and Cubs trailed the Reds.

Silly me.

I liked Pablo's face plant between 2nd and 3rd earlier in the night. Triples aren't meant for guys shaped like him.

Yeah, that was pretty funny. I lost my breath for a second, because I thought he was injured but I think it was just embarrassment.

He actually runs pretty well for a big guy, and he hustles his butt off. I like the way he plays and he can flat out hit.

It's still early.

Besides, I'll go cheer for a sport with less cheaters right now. Hockey has less cheaters, right...?!??

That's true. In hockey, cheating is shaving before your team loses in the playoffs.

Being a Minny guy, I don't usually see you chirp much about your old North Stars and now the Wild much...

Don't follow hockey, Squirrel-lips?

I used to play hockey until became a 6'4" slow cross-checking target. I used to be a North Stars fan until Norman Green drove them to Dallas. The year they beat Chicago and made it to the Stanley Cup finals with a .500 record was phenomenal.

Having moved away from Minnesota though I lost my appetite for hockey. Chicago has not been a hockey town since 1995. It's a great game but the NHL has struggled.

Yeah...I remember that upset very well. Jon Casey, Brian Bellows, et al.

I remember reading in the paper that their strategy to beat Belfour in that series was to shoot high and had Casey practicing like he "lost his contacts on the floor."

And well, Chicago is having quite the renaissance with the Hawks again. As mean as it sounds, Dollar Bill passing away was the best thing to happen for the franchise...

The Giants just intentionally walked Zimmerman in possibly his last at bat in the 7th.

Yeah, I'm watching it on that gameday thingy. It was the right move given first base being open and how hot he is. He'll probably get another AB, and the effin' Nats just broke the game open.

First base was open because Barack Zito threw a wild pitch. I say, take your medicine and pitch to the guy.

Regardless of why first base was open, you are not going to pitch to the hottest guy in the NL when you can pitch to the guy behind him instead. I'd guess 10 out of 10 managers would've done the same thing. You set up the force at any base and keep the double play in order.

Anyway, a 30 gamer is nothing to sneeze at. Congrats Zimmerman.

And "Barack Zito?"

Did you see where Greinke refused to pose for the SI cover? Superstitious much?

How bout them RANGERS!? I can't believe it. I am still like WTF. 23-14?! 3rd in the whole MLB?! I'll take it. But then again we are only like what... 1/10th into the season? Expected failure to come?

All I know is ... 'wow' so far...

Ya, they are kicking ass right now. They ran roughshod over the Mariners last week. We'll see how long the pitching holds up. Devastating offensive club.

Padres, White Sox agree on Peavy trade

The deal is now awaiting Peavy's approval. I guess we'll see just how much he hates the AL and Ozzie Guillen

ESPN is reporting this too, but they're not saying who might be involved on the Chi Sox end.

Two players believed to be in deal are left-handers Clayton Richard and Aaron Poreda, a first-round Draft pick in 2007 who would be the kind of front-line starter the Padres would desire.
Gimme a friggin' break. More salary dumping.

Yeah, if they win today they'll actually pass the team that has 4 road wins (2 against Cleveland) this year.

I've read it's a four-player deal including Aaron Poreda, Clayton Richard and some lesser prospects or draft picks

Why wouldn't they wait till the deadline? Surely the market for him would have increased by then.

Sure there are. 55 years and counting since the last World Series win is a great excuse. 41 years of following the team and zero payoff. You want frustration? Become a Giants fan.

And losing Manny has really hurt the Dogears.
