I think a better idea would be whoever wins the interleague series...? At least that makes more sense IMO.

Cubs put Prior on DL
OMFG.
This is beyond stupid, funny, and/or pathetic. If there is a "curse" on the Cubs, I honestly think we get the point. Holy shit...abso-freaking-lutely unreal.

The Cubs started the second half of the season by putting pitcher Mark Prior on the disabled list and calling up infielder Ryan Theriot from Triple-A Iowa.
Prior was a late scratch from last Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers because of a strained muscle on his left side. The injury occurred while Prior was taking batting practice before Saturday night's game.
How long will the Cubs be without Prior?
"We're not sure," manager Dusty Baker said. "He was better yesterday."
He is on the disabled list for the seventh time in his five-year career.
Associated Press contributed to this report.

the all-star game is supposed to be fun...you are supposed to play everyone that the vans voted to see....not play only certain people to make sure you win.....
whatever happened to busting your ass all season to have a good record so you get home field advantage....

Yeah saw that last night, I guess they gave up on Chacon already. I just hope Ponson does something in the second half. If Johnson, Mussina, Wong pitch well the 4th&5th starter is gravy. Just hope Matsui comes back and can be somewhat productive and Sheffield & Cano come back strong. Too early to stress out but it's not looking too bad.
retraction..Whoever is second in the east is not making the playoffs, unless Chicago and Detroit forget how to play in the second half.

The Tigers will realize they are the Tigers in the very near future.

Meterparel has been talking about the list of bad pitching choices theo has made (BJ Kim, Mike Remlinger, Jeff Suppan, etc etc..)
Good pitching is tough to find.. especially in the middle releiver roles... You can always find a starter if you're willing to pay for 'em (ie. Schilling, Beckett).... but the 5th starter role has been a tough one to fill w/ Clement and Wells out...

Eh, I'm not counting on anything from Ponson, and he costs the Yankees next to nothing. If he pans out great, if not, no biggie.
And for the Yankees beating the White Sox 14-3.
Strange that the Yankees are 15-7 against the AL Central, but 9-10 against the AL West.

Meh, they lost 2 to the Yanks...big whoop. They are still ahead in the standings...and at the end of the day, the ChiSox still are a better team than the Yanks.

Burn some dust here
I don't know why but I have a gut feeling that the Yankees are about to go on a run. It's going to take a lot to overtake the BoSox (in the long run) but it is possible.....especially if they were to pick up Smoltz from the Braves.

It's all good. I'm looking forward to the many games your Pussies have with the ChiSox.
We'll see who's rolling over when that happens. Yes?

So what do you think of the Reds/Nationals trade? Are we crazy? It was an interesting trade that I wasn't very happy about at first but it might work out in the end for us. It's no secret we needed some more bullpen help...
Although Austin Kearns replacement (Chris Denorfia) is ready to be an everyday player, I think we'll miss Kearns' power. Felipe Lopez was okay but he can be lazy every once in a while. And his defense was pretty crappy sometimes (14 errors I believe). That's one thing Clayton will help right away.
I think Ryan Wagner will be good for them eventually. Jim Bowden messed him up when he was a rookie by rushing him to the majors two months after drafting him ( ), but I'm a firm believer that the change of scenery will help. (Just like it helped Brandon Phillips to get out of Cleveland) I think he was just frustrated.
Anyways, just wondering what you guys think. Who do you think got the better deal?
I guess we'll see with time though...
