I told you Timmy was going to get Bernier to the Leafs.
My take, the deal was good for both teams with an edge to LA.
The deal filled so many "holes" for the Kings.
LA got a pick it needed, got a decent backup goaltender, got a top 9 young forward (and possible upside of a top 6), and the Leafs threw in an extra $500k in extra cap space for LA.
Leafs got (what I believe) their future #1 goaltender.
Bernier IMHO is one of the most technically sound netminders around.
He is great, and will only get better. I think he will thrive as a starter.
His time is now, and he just might bring the Leafs The Cup the way Doughty brought Canada the goldz.
Did the Leafs really need to fill a goaltender spot in the off season? Not really, but clearly management thinks so.
This is one of those deals that will become par for the course in the new CBA NHL. The Kings would have loved to keep Bernier, but because of the cap, they couldn't. The days of being able to have "Fuhr and Moog" as your 1 and 2 are over.
...and thanks for the extra $500k in cap room too.

Just wondering. Or maybe the Leaves had to give up a goalie...?
Cuz, just hope Toronto does not have a repeat of Rask/Pogge Part II.

I really thought the Leafs had some faith in Reimer, but apparently not. Can't say I blame them. And the thing to remember is this is not Nonis' roster, its still Burke's. Plenty of Cap space for the Leafs so that 500K doesn't mean much. Hope they can cherry pick a few more players off rosters that are in cap hell.
Bit surprised there was no mention of Pittsburgh in the Bernier sweepstakes?
How exactly does that relate to Reimer-Bernier?
Both players were drafted by the Leafs and they traded away Raask cause they had faith in Pogge. Big mistake.
They don't have faith in Reimer so they got another option. Both could potentially be #1's but if it doesn't work out neither are/will be highly paid so the risk is low.
I think there's 0 chance of Scrivens turns into Raask. He's a career back up.

Who knows, if they can fix that D of theirs, maybe Fleury won't be so in net and that equates to some success? For sure, the team that won the Cup in 2008 sure played tighter defensively than this and last years' iterations.
Good goalies steal a game here and there when the team defense is or take a night off. Fleury isn't doing that.
And where exactly will Pitt get the cap space to fix that defense? Aren't they talking about possibly trading their best D-Man?
I'm sure BlackAck will filll me in with details

Not a regular observer of the Pens though. So, I'll leave it to Jonesi (not) or 97Ack to comment.
Just a question, Waldorf: Your goalie pipeline is pretty decent with Berube and Jones...did the Kings really need Scrivens and could've asked for another prospect instead like at wing...?
Just wondering. Or maybe the Leaves had to give up a goalie...?

The Crosbies are a trainwreck. They are refusing to address the fixable areas of their roster, instead they are plunging themselves into cap hell.
Poor D.
Poor goaltending.
Closest-fought series for a long time. Entertaining as heck.
...although, terrible for your ticker if you are a fan of either team. And if the Hawks win, you promised to zipit about goaltending with me forever.

Well, I think they shot down that possibility when they handed Fleury the keys for next season in their post-season wrap-up.

If the Hawks can win with that stiff Crawford between the pipes, honestly how can I continue to rag him about elite goalies? Doesn't mean I believe you don't need one to win most years. Just said I'd stop bothering Yummy about it.

I'll be pissed as fawk if this doesn't go seven games.
Hell, if I were srika, I would demand a full refund on his playoff tickets if he can't enjoy a game seven Stanley Cup Final game on home ice. Talk about getting jipped - sheesh.
And you can bet your bottom booty, I will beat him to the punch at bumping his epic Stanley Cup thread if the Hawks win. After all, have to live up to my lifetime A'zine achievement award.
