His defense needs work, IMO. And I read that the number of goals scored against when he's on the ice is only second to Dion Phaneuf's. So, pretty bad.
If Letang does sign, the Leaves would need to have a very good stay at-home guy. And then, find a home for Captain Dion. Not sure you need two of the same type of d-man.

But if true
I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change
The world is closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
The future's in the air
I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change
Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
I folow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change
The wind of change
Blows straight into the face of time
Like a stormwind that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind
Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me

And it would likely cost one of our young offensive defencemen, either Gardiner or Reilly, both of whom I'd rather keep then add LeTang.

Call Messier the waaaaahmbulance.
Mark Messier leaving Rangers
NEW YORK -- Mark Messier, who was recently passed over for the New York Rangers' coaching job, issued a statement Thursday saying he's leaving the organization.
Messier denied his decision was based on not being hired as the club's coach. He lost out to former Vancouver Canucks coach Alain Vigneault, who was introduced last Friday as John Tortorella's replacement.
"I am resigning my position with the team to pursue an opportunity to expand the game of hockey in the New York area by developing the Kingsbridge National Ice Center," Messier said. "Although some will perceive this as a reaction to the coaching decision, nothing could be further from the truth. I completely respect the decision that was made and for all the reasons it was made. I harbor no hard feelings toward Glen [Sather] or the Rangers. This is a personal choice I am making to create a program in the New York area that will give our children more choices and opportunities in the future. I wish the Rangers nothing but the best in the future."

Team president and general manager Glen Sather thought Messier's choice did have something to do with not getting the coaching job.
"I think that's part of the decision but we all have to live our own lives the way we decide to do it," Sather said after Thursday afternoon's Board of Governors meeting in Midtown NYC. "His choice was to decide to move on."
Sather said there was no friction between him and the iconic former captain, who led the Rangers to a Stanley Cup championship in 1994, ending a 54-year drought.
"We parted on great terms," said Sather. "Mark's a great friend of mine and [I've] virtually spent most of my life and his life together."
The 52-year-old Messier, who served as a special assistant to Sather, was strongly considered for the job, though his lack of NHL coaching experience appeared to be a factor in the decision to hire Vigneault.
"Experience is part of it," Sather said. "If you want coach in this league you need a little experience. I think Mark, if he decides to coach, will be great at it. He just needs to get a little time behind the bench."
Sather was also asked whether the Rangers had made a decision on whether they will buy out Brad Richards' contract. Sather said they had not but will make a choice "shortly."
The compliance buyout window opened Wednesday night and will close before free agency begins July 5. As of late Wednesday night, Richards had yet to be informed of a decision one way or the other from the Rangers, he told ESPNNewYork.com via text message.

Dom sings?
My ears...they burn! You should stick to Canadian singers, something Bieberish, Dionish, Nickelbackish.
Or most appropriately, a classic Bryan Adams...
Please forgive me, I know not what I do
Please forgive me, I can't stop lovin' you
Don't deny , the pain he's going through...

Well, to be fair, Letang is a Norris Finalist this year...But, in a condensed season, is he truly a Norris-type player and ergo, a franchise-building D-man?
Ehhhh...I would not consider him in the same category as Doughty, Weber, Keith, Chara, et al...at least not yet. He's on the ice for way too many goals-against.
Even if I think the Pens offer was too much, LeLetang should've taken the money Pittsburgh was offering him and not be greedy.

I agree with you on this, he says he wants to stay, but wants more money from a team that is offering him a nice raise and trying to fit him in under the salary cap.

Gonna be interesting where it goes from here with teams up against the cap.
I think he is being very foolish....but then again so are the Crosbies for offering him that kind of coin.
The sizzle in the Steak
The New York Rangers have decided against using their final compliance buyout on forward Brad Richards this season. The 33-year-old has seven years and $36 million left on his deal that has an annual cap hit of $6.667 million. The Rangers used their first compliance buyout on defenceman Wade Redden earlier in the year.
