$10 says the Sens finish higher in the standings than the Meh Things next year
Hope Sens fans boo him like he's at the ACC.
dom, who's taking over Yumchah mantle as Red Wing hater in the East.

Tend to agree. He was the biggest fish in the FA pond though. And its not a 7 or 8 million hit. They were paying Grabovski 5.5. Hope Clarkson is a better value at almost the same dollars. Bolland and him are a huge upgrade over what we had last year.
Jerome Iginla, bandwagon jumper.
Interesting contract. Base of 1.8 that could go as high as 6 with performance bonuses. Does that mean Boston has to stay at least 4 million under the cap, just in case?

Not sure how that works. It's 1.8 plus 3.5 bonus for games played plus another 500K for points and playoffs.
IMO he's washed up and won't help the B's much.
With Lucic and Krejci/Bergeron, I think this just may work. He's not the super-elite player that he was in his prime, but Iginla can still be a good player with the right linemates, methinks.

He could be a good replacement for Horton in the short term. He may be a better player than he was for the Pens if he's playing in his natural RW position.

Well I finally got a straight answer to how the bonuses for Iginla count towards the cap. Apparently it's 1.8 mil this year and whatever he earns in bonuses counts against next year. It has to do with bonuses, over 35 contracts and a 7.5 percent cap cushion apparently.

Crafty work by Chiarelli.
Jarome Iginla will have a base salary of $1.8 million. However, Iginla’s cap hit will most likely top out at $6 million. Iginla will make $4.2 million in performance bonuses, most of which will be attainable.
Because Iginla, 36, is working on a 35-and-older contract, the Bruins can apply the $4.2 million in incentives toward the bonus cushion. Teams can exceed the $64.3 million cap by 7.5 percent ($4,822,500) by using the bonus cushion.
If a team exceeds the cushion, it must carry an overage penalty by that number the following season.
By exercising the bonus cushion with Iginla’s 35-and-older contract, and by using the long-term injury exception with Marc Savard, the Bruins have enough cap space to sign Tuukka Rask.

What doesn't make sense is that Emory signed with Philly for $1.65 million. Khabibulin signed for more with the Blackhawks.
I'm sure Ray saw more potential for him to play with the Flyers, now that Crawford has solidified himself with a Stanley Cup in Chicago.

Oh, and that's the last time I take you up on your "sweet" tickets next to April.

Yea Chris....he'll be like Rodney Dangerfield-no respect!
It will be interesting to see Detroit's style of play in the Eastern Conference.
I suspect, they will do quite well. Because, many (not all) of the East's teams will be run ragged trying to chase the Wings around.

Overblown. Yeah, so the bandwagoner stepped on the Hawks logo...it's a big no-no/cardinal sin...But, not the first time someone accidentally did that when visiting the Hawks room.
Whatever, slow day in hockey news, I suppose.

Rumor has it that it was more than stepping, I heard he Taylor Swifted right across the logo.
