Definitely wasn't intentional, he usually goes for the hip check, looked like steps was trying to go around him and their knees hit. Hope he's OK

Ahh stop it. He was more concerned with Stepan being out for the playoffs, as was I, than the penalty call.

An open ice crosscheck when the puck was nowhere around? Yeah, who would ever think that's dirty...

I was referring to the fact there was no chance of injury.

I never said that but you do view things through rose colored glasses. No more complaining about diving from you until you start complaining how your team does it constantly.

Tortorella fined $20,000 for ripping Penguins
New York Rangers coach John Tortorella received his second hefty fine of the season after ripping the Pittsburgh Penguins and their star players following Thursday's loss.

He'll give up $20,000 for going off about a Brooks Orpik hit that injured Rangers center Derek Stepan.

"I wonder what would happen if we did it to their two whining stars. I wonder what would happen," he told reporters in reference to Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. "So I'm anxious to see what happens with the league. There's no respect amongst players. None. It's sickening."

Tortorella then went on to criticize the Penguins' organization when asked why he thinks players show no respect.

"Ask the guy who did it, ask him," he said. "It's one of the most arrogant organizations in the league. They whine about this stuff all the time and look what happens."

Tortorella was fined $30,000 in January for intimating that the league and NBC were trying to force the Winter Classic into overtime. He apologized afterward.

Tortorella is a clown. He says the dumbest things.....and so often....you gotta wonder.... He sure likes to blame everyone but himself and his team...first it's the Devils, now the Pens.

Shut your trap, John.

I am not Torts biggest fan but that looked like intent to injure to me. Did you see the game?

I liked Renney better but they never won with him and he was just fined too!

He has a right to complain when a player is injured for no reason. He will I assume pay the fine and continue to say what is on his mind. ain't freedom of speech grand?

^^ Freedom of speech is grand, even when it makes you look like a clown with a victim mentality.

Torts should shut his trap, and coach.

Nobody likes a sore loser.

Outside of moving closer to clinching the Presidents trophy yesterdays game was not that important to the Rangers. Hence Lundy sitting it out.

Barring a miracle, looks like it will be the Yotes versus Hawks in the 1st round.

The Kings and Sharks can battle it out for either the Blues or Nucks.

So the Bruins get matched up with the Caps. Not really the matchup I was hoping for but it is what it is.

On the positive side, if Wstevens ever shows up he'll be a Caps fan with a Zdeno Chara avatar (dressed like a bunny of course).

Get ready to watch the dirtiest team in hockey attempt to take out your star players, Waldorf.

Bieksa, Burrows, Kesler, Lapierre, Edler, and even the Sedins...

And after they cheap shot the Kings to death they're coming back for your Hawks. I hate the Canucks as much as you guys do but I can't fathom why you'd think the Kings could beat them. Can't blame Moog, he has to side with his team but I'd be shocked if the Kings win 2 games in that series.

Because, I don't believe in Vancouver's secondary scoring outside of the Sisters. They gave that up for some crash and bang in Kassian. The other thing is, once the playoffs start, it starts to favor teams like like to win 1-0 and 2-1 games...and well, that's LA for you.

I think their C depth will be too much for Vancouver. Let's say the defenses are an even match-up, so, I'll toss that one out.

The only thing that is advantage Vancouver is the cheapshots. So, Bieksa will definitely turn down a fight with Clifford but will have no issues deciding to fight someone like Voynov...

And get ready for biting/knee-on-groin/hair-pulling from the other sackless sister: Burrows.

Yup, solving Smith is going to be the biggest challenge for Chicago...and the ferocious forecheck of the Yotes too.

They are one well-coached team by Tippett. He's like Trotz of the Preds IMO...

How so? LA has Carter, Richards, Scuderi, Mitchell...just to start. And this is not the first playoffs that Kopitar and Drew has ever been in?

Like I said, I think LA matches up well to the Cansucks...I'd also factor in fatique as Vancouver's played alot of hockey the last few years with long playoff runs.

It all depends on which Kings team shows up.

They are still far from consistent, and that will hurt them in the playoffs.
You gotta play 60 minutes EVERY game.

When the Kings do play 60 minutes, they can beat anyone.
Trouble is they don't do that consistently, and that will do them in.

Tippett is an excellent coach.

Phoenix style is not the most exciting hockey, but it can make it very tough on opponents.

Whoever pulled the Yotes or the Preds was going to have a tough first round.

Well, in about 2 weeks one of us will come in here and say "told you so" we'll see.

But I like your point about Richards. Hell of a competitor that should help push back against Vancouver's goonery.

What if.......

The Phoenix Coyotes win the Stanley Cup. Does Gary Bettman present the Stanley Cup to himself. And in the history of sports, has a team that just won a championship ever been moved into another city the following year? Yotes will not be in Glendale next year.
