He said he replaces the entire skate? I know there is the TBlade which you don't sharpen and replace after 10-14 uses. I have seen some players using them.

^^ The way you wrote the original post made it seem as if he replaced the entire skate.

Clearly changing the blade and/or chassis makes it much easier.

He does use the T-Blade skates but he wasn't talking about replacing the blades. He was talking about replacing the whole skate, the softer and more broken in it is the less it protects you when shot blocking. My memory was foggy, he says "every 15 games or so", cut to 1:25 for his reasoning.

Cool. I actually photomatched the stick to the January 7, 2011 vs NYR game. the back of the shaft has "NYR" written on it, which was when it was used.

Someone should tell Siedenberg they make protective boots that strap on over the skates for that exact purpose.

In Orbiter Processing Facility-2, Lord Stanley's Cup sits in the flight deck of space shuttle Atlantis, on January 18, 2012. The Stanley Cup was awarded to the Boston Bruins after winning the 2011 National Hockey League Championship. Jeremy Jacobs, chairman and chief executive officer of Delaware North Companies and owner of the Boston Bruins, had brought the cup to Florida for Kennedy and Delaware North employees to view and take photographs.

Seen quite a few more defensemen wearing the "boot armour".

Yea, I hear ya! The amount of $$$ parents will throw down on their little Mites for gear is ASTOUNDING!

As if these kids notice the difference, or as if the more expensive gear will better their game/skills.

It's ridiculous.

I prefer Easton skates. I would love to get a pair of these as they are so light.

But don't play enough so still using these that I have had since the middle of high school.

Ahhh I see. Now that is kinda crazy. However with the new heating technology I never found that breaking in skates was to difficult anymore.

Stars definitely have the toughest schedule remaining.
Coyotes should win 3/4 remaining
Kings also have an easy schedule remaining other than the SJ matchups
SJ has a tough remaining schedule as well.

Damn this is going to be down to the wire.

What a frustrating game to watch. Fleury needs to be benched next game, just to get a rest.

I caught a t-shirt and everyone was booing me.

Malkin 100th point.

Got on TV like 5 times.

I find Easton skates have to aggressive of an angle.
I prefer a neutral skate, like Bauer. I find them more fitting to two-way play.

That Easton all composite shell skate is way too rigid.
I didn't know they still sell them.

So, what did we learn in all of this, kids? There are NO gimmes in the NHL.

I would know. Hawks have made the Oilers look like the second-coming of the 70s Habs.

My foot never fit right in Bauer skates for some reason. They just never felt comfortable. When CCM changed how they were making the old 1052Tacks I switched to Easton and was never happier. They seemed to fit even better than my CCMs.

They may have stopped making the full composite shell I am not sure. Last time I looked into skates was like my freshman year of college and couldn't justify spending $500-600 on skates when I was no longer playing on 3 teams a year.

Edit: Just checked and they have moved onto a new design. Can pick up the S17 skates that were 600 before for 200-300. Might have to see if I can find a pair in my size.

This happened to me back in February, except it was the shaft that snapped as the stick speared me in the ribs.

You could probably move them to Toronto, from what I understand they really want to have a NHL team in there.
