I don't see the big deal. I doubt he wanted them. I can see making some money via auction but otherwise who cares.

And I keep hearing how he got his mouth guard back. I'm sure he was elated. I know he didn't want to fork over the $2.50 for a new one.

Keep it for posterity? Maybe put it in the Hall of Fame? I'm sure it's a pretty big deal for whoever has his stuff now.

Jersey I get, but gloves and a helmet? Meh.

What do you think they'll do with Joe Thornton's Olympic gear?

I remember seeing those volunteers in the teal shirts picking up all the sticks and gloves during the celebration. I bet they just threw them all somewhere not realizing the commemorative value of said items. Therefore, I'm not surprised this happened.

Looks like the Kings got Fredrik Modin for pick(s).

Another veteran forward with a winning history (Cup and gold medals).
Good to have around the young kids.

Looks like Chicago is going to stand pat...their "deal" was getting Kim Johnsson.

So, I either get to woohoo about it or get ready for some backlash if Chicago bows out in the playoffs...

As always, rumors are rumors. Vokoun going to Chicago was likely hot air.

If there was a year to go deep in the West with mediocre goaltending this is it.

Just like the Malkin for Kopitar deal...right?

I think Toews was almost going to Toronto for Kaberle.

Well, it's official now: In Huet/Niemi, I trust.

Besides, if Captain Toews can help Canada win golds for Junior, World Cup, and Olympics...He can help Chicago win the Grail.

Disappointed and quite upset about the Bruins not getting a scorer. At the least they should have tried to get Raffi Torres (didn't cost the Sabres very much, don't see why the Bruins couldn't have gotten him)

They have had since September when Kessel left to arrange for a scorer..but nothing has come of it.

We have 9 draft picks in the first two rounds the next two years!! 4 in the first and 5 in the seconds (which will include a top 3 this year and quite possibly a top 3 next year, thank you Burke)

Not happy. /rant

^^ I am very happy about the picks but we don't need ALL of them.

I saw the Derek Morris trade and I thought they were doing it to clear some cap space to acquire a scorer but no go.

Smart drafting and building the team via that route is the only way to get good now...

The best and most promising teams all have home-grown talent: Hawks, Penguins, Caps, Kings, Wings...

There was no talk on the radio shows or news here and I never thought they would get a below average rent a player.. ok.. maybe I was hoping they wouldn't..

I don't think they had much of a chance in the playoffs this year anyway. You should be happy they have the chance to stack the team in the draft the next two years. If Rask pans out, they'll be sitting pretty.

To be honest.. I hate rent a players.. And ever since the Hossa fiasco I hate them even more..

I know it doesn't seem like much but Malkin is quietly on, I believe, a 12 game point streak and has been playing well. Plus Talbot finally looks healthy..

but they didn't give up much. They never gave Caputti a chance so it doesn't matter.

I agree with Stevens. Rebuilding can be a fun time. Even before Crosby and Malkin I enjoyed the years of watching the "kids" ,per say, grow up.. It's a fun time and in the end will pay off. They have a ton of picks enjoy the draft. Before the Pens "rebuilding" I never went to the camps to watch practice before the season. Every year was like xmas going and seeing the new kids get a chance to make the roster.

Apparently people who haven't seen him play the last 5 years do. This guy never met a body check he liked. No doubt he'll come in and score a few but he's not the answer on the wing I think the Pens were looking for.

All I can do is at Sutter and the Flames. They now have have like a quarter of the Leafs roster on their team. Did they bother to take a look at the standing and see where the Leafs are. Why anyone would think 5 players from a terrible team would somehow help there's is a great question.

Problem is, I don't think the B's were/are in a rebuilding mode. They were a pretty good team just 1 year ago.

And another top 3 next year over my dead body BostonB. Burke will be assasinated if that happens.

But with Crosby and Malkin, were are those kids. I don't know the baby Pens that well, but it seems like Pens still have a lot of free agents, then WB P's.

poooor dommy... def picked a bad time to rebuild... Make your centerpiece Kessel and delay the rebuilding process by 2 years.. Kessel will be retired before that plan ever pans out

I agree that rebuilding can be fun, especially around some center pieces like Krejci, Savard, Lucic, Rask, Chara. However, why not give up a second rounder or so for a little scoring touch that could help in the playoffs.

I think Chiarelli is very good at getting players to come here in the offseason and signing them to lucrative deals, however he has lacked the ability to make that 'big' trade come the deadline.

It will definitely be exciting looking forward to next year and watching the Leafs and Oilers down the stretch to see what kind of pick we are going to get.
