They will be lucky to medal.

Russia and Canada are stacked.

Canada was stacked in 06 as well and finished 7th or 8th.

In a short tournament like this anything can happen. With Ryan Miller in net the US is probably the last team I'd want to play.

USA has no scoring. Who's gonna pot the goals, besides Parise, Statsny, Kane, Ryan?

Only thing I see the US having is youth and speed which will help on olympic ice, but I don't have high hopes for USA hockey. Never have, really.

And yea, we have Miller. But Canada has marty and fleury, and Russia has Nabokov.

Maybe in 2014 they will win, because all the 20-somethings will have more experience. There are no game breakers on USA. There are solid players, yea, but we don't have a Crosby or Ovechkin or Kovalchuk that can take over a game.

Ryan Miller is an effing wall, but I see him as number two, behind Thomas, with Quick getting no love.

Almost every country has a legitimate shot in the Olympics.

On paper it's another story.

Hang your heads in shame Canadian hockey fans. In the past 6 years our juniors have a record of 35-1 with 5 gold medals and one silver. We are clearly no longer the best.

I always figured it was just a matter of time before the US overtook Canada as far as hockey talent went. Their population is simply too big not to at some point develop great talent.

But it hasn't happened yet.

BTW - Canada also won Silver in 04.

There aren't enough cheap places to play in the US. Ice time is very expensive unless you live in a northern state.

No. You first have to have a good amount of rinks in the area or country, which I thought the US had plenty of. I know Canada has the highest rink to person ratio but I thought the US was pretty close.

No rinks. Then add the popularity of the sport which is probably 4th behind Football, baseball and basketball. Not to mention it's not cold enough here to go hop on a pond and play in the winters. Ice time is $$$...

Its about $200-250 up here if I remeber correctly.

Then again, I have 3 outdoor rinks within 5 minutes I can jump on anytime I like right now.
