Keep winning Leafs & Sens...you too, Avs.

I'll take any of these: Tavares, Hedman, Kane, Duchene, MSP, Schenn.

Top six is all that is needed.

The Cellar:
23 Maple Leafs 71 pts, 11 GR
24 Senators 68 pts, 13 GR
25 Kings 68 pts, 13 GR
26 Coyotes 64 pts, 12 GR
27 Avalanche 64 pts, 11 GR
28 Thrashers 64 pts, 11 GR
29 Lightning 61 pts, 12 GR
30 Islanders 56 pts, 12 GR

Um...yeah, but Sens and Leafs were never in the running for a lotto pick either if you asked me.

Of the ones you listed, the only franchise changers are Hedman and Tavares as far as I know...but, who knows with prospects.

Everyone thought Stamkos would be great but he can't even touch Toews' britches...

Don't care...it's all about the standings....who cares who was or wasn't in the running for draft picks?

...and again I'll be happy with any of those six....after those...the "quality" drops quite a bit.

...and Drew Doughty >>>>>>> Stamkos.

The NHL Network has a pretty good two hour special Brodeur tonight, I was watching a little bit of it earlier.

Stamkos is really picking it up as of late and is starting to come into his own. If we revisit this one year from now, I don't think there will be any question as to who is the best player from the 08-09 rookie class.

Put down the bong fella's. Stamko's has talent coming out of the wahzoo.. He will be a hell of a player. Toews won't be able to hold his jock strap in a couple of years.

Ovechkin's celebration last night = over the top. he should learn to reel it in a bit. I'm all for celebrating goals and creating excitement, but I'm against having the hockey equivalent of Terrell Owens on my favorite team.

Funny how when I say it everyone attacks me, but at least some people agree with me, I love seeing players celebrate, but if Obitchkin was an NFL player, he'd be flagged all the time for Excessive Celebration. I don't mind him celebrating, it's his rub it in your face attitude that I can't stand

This Ovechkin goal is all over the news up here. Apparently Tocchet is pissed no one took him out. Someone should have roughed him up IMO but that should have been the extent of it.

unplanned celebration caused by shear excitement = OK
planned celebration to call attention to oneself = not OK

This is the first blatantly planned celebration I've seen from Ovechkin

Even though his celebrations are a little over the top for me, I think they're genuine. He's just really excited. Heck, even when his teammates score he has that look of ecstasy on his face when they celebrate. I like the enthusiasm, but keep the planned celebrations in football.

These commentators are idiots. I agree that it is good to have players with personality, but celebrating the way Ovechkin did makes you a douche - whether you're Canadian or European. You'd never see Jerome Iginla do something like that.

You see it from a perspective....here in the states...the NHL is 4th, 5th or even 10th fiddle to the top tier sports.

Most people on the streeet cannot even name one NHL player.

The league needs players with personality....marketable identity for the US.

I'm not the happiest of fans when NBA or NFL players are all into themselves after a play, but Ovechkin's celebration was far from that.

He's a huge star for the game....and nobody in the US (other than die-hard hockey fans) know who this guy is.

Hate to state the obvious but a Canadian player (or American for that matter) would never do something like that so its a moot point isn't it.

I love the old-school Flames-version of Theo Fleury. I miss that guy.

I think Don Cherry is a douche and an idiot for thinking that players should act almost shameful when they score. However, I don't fault him from his pro-Canadian stance. I think Canadians should be proud about their country, hockey, and their players. Canada is the Mecca of hockey and produces the best players overall.

Here in the States, we see so much rah rah U-S-A shit, I love it when someone from another country is outspoken about their patriotism.

I'm all for showing passion and personality, but the goal celebration was stupid. I don't want to see the NHL go down that road. I'll sacrifice losing teams where they can't give the tickets away.
