watch him throw his elbow/forearm during his hits, dirty. watch him line people up from across the rink... if that isn't considered taking a run i don't know what is.

I'm not saying that all of Sevens' hits were clean, but you can't put all the blame on the hitter. If you skate with your head down, you're going to get rocked. When a player is skating towards you with his head down, its hard NOT to hit him in the head. Players need to protect themselves better out there.

i agree, you need to be very aware of your surroundings when you have the puck. but the topic is about stevens, and how he is a dirty player. IMO most of those hits in the video appear clean, i mean they were on ESPN, but search through youtube for the ones not televised. the one on kariya was blatantly unnecessary. it's one thing to lay a clean hit, its another to go at someone with everything you have when the other play is completely vulnerable and defenseless. as someone mentioned before... that's intent to cause injury.

Maybe, but do you remember any of the outrage like we see today back when Stevens was laying people out? Maybe it was more accepted back then. The only one I remember was Lindros, and he wasn't even penalized for that hit. Although I do agree that he likely intended to injure, He looked like a prick. Although I don't think he was aiming for their heads.

As a player, you need to know who you're on the ice with. Especially if its Scott Stevens or a player like that. In regards to the Kariya hit, it may have been a little late but again, Kariya needs to be aware of who he is on the ice with and should have not been admiring the pass.

I wouldn't classify Stevens as a dirty player. He was great at timing his hits which is a tremendous skill. He's not using his stick or hitting from behind. He is playing within the rules.

I agree as well. I'm just saying that if those hits occurred in the 2007/2008 season, people would be calling for suspensions on a lot of them. I also believe he wanted to hurt people.

You're right. A lot of those hits would result in suspension today. The game has changed a lot since Stevens broke into the league in the early 80's.

i understand, one of the first basics i learned in playing was never watch the pass... but i still think stevens was out to hurt people which really has no place in the game.

Kid is very young, he's good, and fits well as the grinder on the top line w/ Kopitar and teh Cammaleri....he may get 20+ goals this season too.

...and he leads the league in hits
Dustin Brown 51 hits
Dion Phaneuf 51 hits
Michael Komisarek 44 hits

Dustin Brown FTW

Safety Tips

Contrary to popular belief, in the event of a real-life encounter with Dustin Brown, doorways will offer no protection. But there are a few things that you can do to help yourself be prepared for such an event.
• Health insurance premiums should be paid and current. If possible, opt for a higher premium/lower co-pay.

• Avoid wearing the colors orange, teal, blue, desert red, yellow, Motor City red, light red, green, mustard yellow, dark red, light blue, or red.

• Never pretend to be invincible.

• Practice walking on crutches ahead of time. This will ease your transition into recovery.

• Avoid sudden movements around Dustin Brown. This can be seen as a sign of aggression.

• Never make eye contact with Dustin Brown. This can be seen as a sign of aggression.

• Never breathe in the presence of Dustin Brown. This can be seen as a sign of aggression.

• Just don't do anything at all. This can be seen as a sign of aggression.

• Wear clean underwear.

• And finally: Keep your head up, Cookie.

so I am contemplating a fantasy hockey move and stuck on what I want to do. I have Afinogenov and I am thinking of dropping him for a returning Hejduk. Afinogenov has been very unproductive this season and hejduk is coming back from a sore back but he atleast has weapons to work with.

I agree...I'd take Hejduk over Afinogenov any day. Afinogenov is so talented, but I've never seen him put it all together on a daily basis. Every time I've picked him, he's always performed below expectations.

Well, my gut tells me that the Buffalo is no longer the multi-line talented team with Drury and Briere defecting via UFA...so, Afinogenov will no longer have the team depth to take away some of the attention from him...

Hejduk is playing in a offensively rich team with Sakic, Captain Canada, Stastny, Wojtek, and etc. around him...

Are there any hockey fans interested in going to the Rangers/Pens game on Friday night?(11/9) I'll be going to the garden for my first time and I have one extra ticket. My wife is going with some friends to Blue Man group on the same night so I have an extra ticket. I'm not looking to sell the ticket just offering to a fellow Aziner who might be interested in watching Crosby take the rangers to school... oh and of course we can talk cars too! If you already have a ticket maybe we can still catch up and talk TL or something during the intermission... I'lll be in section 418 row A (gawd I hope this isn't too damn far) PM me if your interested!

I guess I could be considered a Hawks fan too since we were affiliated with them for a few years but it seemed like everytime we got in groove someone else would be called up and so many of the Admirals players were wearing Hawks jerseys at the end of the year. Good for the young kids, not so good for the AHL team competing for division titles Wirtz is dead now so hopefully the future is looking brighter!

The Hawks do appear on the up...but, they still need to play with consistency. There's way too much reliance on the two kids right now.

^ Seriously...Why did the Leafs make that trade in the first place? I never understood why they would give up such a good prospect so early?

That's like the Hawks giving up Toews without even seeing what he could do.

Because not one person running the team has a clue what they're doing. Ferguson has made mistake after mistake. They already have 40 mill against the cap for next season so its not as if they'll have any flexibility either.

No that I'm paying any attention.
