short answer: no, i do not believe it's HD.
that was my main reason for never ordering it, VS HD is included in my plan for out of state games, and for all my local games, i get MSG and FSNY in HD also included.

And no, I'm not defending him because he's a Hawk. Of course, skills are required but if you're talking about impressive stats, a goalie would have to play behind a stout D like Brodeur, Kiprusoff, Backstrom...

As for Lundqvist, I'd say the Ranger's defense is pretty decent.

Luongo: 3.00 GAA & 0.896 save percentage
Kiprusoff: 3.18 GAA & 0.884 save percentage
Brodeur: 3.51 & 0.865
So much for having marque goalies.....

But, seriously, I think it is. Brodeur started off slowly last year and you know what happened by seasons-end. So, I think those 3 will be fine...their track records should be an indication.

How many HD games will be on NHL CENTER ICE?
We expect to deliver up to 12 games per week in HD by mid November for customers with the 5–LNB Dish and a newer HD receiver (H20, H21, HR20, HR21). As we continue to launch Regional Sports Networks in HD over the next 6 weeks, the number of HD games will rise steadily.

As you can see, DirecTV is carrying Center Ice games in HD. This would seem to imply that it's likely up to the carrier which Center Ice games they make available in HD or if they offer any at all. Hence the reason I was asking specifically about Comcast.

Kings Sign Forward Dustin Brown
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have signed winger Dustin Brown to a US$19.05-million, six-year contract extension.
The deal averages out to $3.175 million a year, a big raise from the $1.175 million he's making this season.
''Dustin is an integral part of what we are building here with the Kings,'' Kings GM Dean Lombardi said in a statement. ''We like how he competes; we like his toughness; and we are very pleased with how his overall game has developed.''
Brown, 22, was chosen 13th overall by the Kings in the 2003 NHL entry draft. He has eight points (4-4) in 11 games this season. Last year he recorded a career-high 46 points (17-29) in 81 games.
He will earn $2.6 million next season, $2.45 million in 2009-10 and $3.5 million for each of the remaining years on the contract.

BOSTON - Boston Bruins centre Patrice Bergeron was taken off the ice on a stretcher Saturday after a scary hit from behind by Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Randy Jones.
Bergeron was chasing after a loose puck in the Flyers zone late in the first period when Jones closed in on him and drove his head into the boards with his forearm.
The 22-year-old crumpled to the ice and lay on his back motionless while the Bruins went after Jones, 26.
Medical personnel cut away Bergeron's jersey and shoulder pads as they worked on him, placing his neck in a brace.
They placed him on a board and then onto a stretcher, his legs taped together and his arms folded across his chest. There was little sign of movement. The game was delayed some 15 minutes as he was treated.
Bergeron was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was being treated by Bruins team physician Dr. Bertram Zarins. There was no immediate word on Bergeron's condition.
"Words can't express the way I feel right now," Jones said in a statement read by a broadcaster on NESN, which aired the game. "I am very apologetic for the hit and what I did. It wasn't intentional, it's something I have never done before, it is not part of my character.
"I'm extremely sorry, I hope he does OK and everything works out for him. I wish him nothing but the best in his recovery."
Jones was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct at 16:07.
Jones' hit is the latest violent incident involving the Flyers this season.
Prospect Steve Downie was suspended 20 games after a hit to the head of Ottawa Senators forward Dean McAmmond in an exhibition contest. Then on Oct. 10 in Vancouver, Jesse Boulerice laid a vicious cross-check to the mouth of Canucks centre Ryan Kesler that resulted in a 25-game suspension.
After the Boulerice incident, the Flyers found themselves fighting off an emerging perception that they were a team full of out-of-control goons.
"I think we're in agreement that there's no place in the game for this anymore," general manager Paul Holmgren said Oct. 12. "I do think it was an isolated incident."
Added head coach John Stevens: "It's almost implied that's the direction we're going when it couldn't be further from the truth."

Update on Bergeron from TSN...
Full article here: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=221555&hubname=nhl
There was no immediate word on Bergeron's condition but according to NESN, Bergeron suffered a concussion and broken nose. He is conscious and has full use of his extremities.

Lets hope he recovers quickly. My favorite player, I didn't see the game because Im not in the US but from what I heard, there were about 15 minutes of complete silence at the Garden with Patrice not moving.

I think the Hawks need to stop relying on 2 rookies to carry the team in scoring.
Now would be good to stop.

The only reason we're talking about the hit, was because of the injury, not because of the hit itself.

Smart hockey for sure. Put the puck on net and good things will happen.

IMO, Bergeron was as much at fault as Jones was. Too many players are setting themselves up for those kinds of hits. Don't turn your back to somebody when you know full well they're coming.
Its not as if Jones lined him up. Bergeron turned at the last second.

This is why I refuse to watch Leaf games this year and refuse to order Leafs TV. (where the game is tonight) People were planning the Cup parade after those two wins over the Pens and Rangers and then they come out and lay an egg against the Caps. The team sucks, plain and simple.

The Leafs at least are competitive...just abeit on the inconsistent side.
