Toews and Kane for 15yrs. Now Bedard the second they leave!!! Must be nice!!!!

 

I am not going to lie, I legit thought Hawks would pick #4 or #5. Thought there was no way they'd vault to #1. Rigged or not, getting the right to pick Bedard fast-tracks their mega-rebuild with a huge piece.

 

From an overall league perspective I'm glad hes there over the other two options. Many national tv games to come

 

I mean, FWIW, if there was a conspiracy, Edmonton would not be getting 21341910283 first overall picks either.

I think, if anything the team that most deserved Bedard were the Yotes...they need some goodwill and positivity. Then again, Hawks were just absolutely brutal -- I would know...I watched many of their games this year.

 

Canes are fun to watch I agree. For some reason though I am just enjoying watching the Panthers more this playoffs. I wouldn't hate either option. A Canes vs Panthers series would be great.

 

Haha I wanted the Flyers to end up with the pick. I hate that the Hawks got it honestly. Although by the time you are building a contender the Avs will likely be in a rebuild anyways so it shouldn't affect them with him in the Central.

 

Yeah Panthers as a lowly 8 seed and the Heat as a 7, who almost didn't make the playoffs via the play-in, are both winning their current series. Wild times down here and certainly exceeded expectations.

 

Karma-wise, I get why almost everyone but Chicago peeps are -ing at the #1 pick falling to the Hawks. For what they did to cover up the Beach incident was and still is beyond disgusting.

This probably also explains why Davidson has been so aggressive to disband the OG group and refuse to bring back Toews/Kane. Complete reset to clean up that stain from those Championship years. Still, I can't help but being absolutely giddy...Bedard is our Nate MacKinnon, McDavid...

 

Oh for sure. He definitely appears to be that level of player. The organization though deserved more years of pain and suffering for what they did though. This almost feels like a Bettman gift to an original 6 team.

Well just fuck. I hope he can even have a normal life after hockey at this point. I don't have high hopes for him being able to come back as the same player he was. This type of surgery and missing two full seasons and he will be 31 at that point. Yeah, not the best odds. This news makes me really sad.

BUT...for those who say it is rigged, I refuse to believe it. You saying it was rigged for the Pens to get Malkin AND Sid? It was rigged for Buffalo to get two #1 picks...? Edmonton? If it was rigged, why are the Leaves being destroyed by Miami? Heck, this is just Chicago's second #1 overall pick ever.

I don't really believe it is rigged. There is more info to say it was rigged to try and bring Edmonton back from the brink than this. Friedman was supposedly around for the actual drawings and is doing a piece to prove how not rigged it is. Then again take that for what it is worth that they need to provide media access to prove something is not rigged. Maybe that adds even more fuel to the fire that it is actually rigged

I wanted Jersey to lose but a PP in ot in an elimination game for an honest mistake is just stupid.

Yeah, Leaves are broken. This core needs to be blown up -- they are not built for the playoffs.

At this point, I really want to see this. I get there are no major markets left. That said the Canes market has grown a ton recently. I remember when I went to my first Canes game years ago and the way the arena is packed now when I go to games. I have several friends in the Charlotte area that have never played hockey and are not from the north that are huge Canes fans.

I think hockey wise the Canes/Panthers series is going to be some fantastic hockey that I think will go 7 games. It might be better than the SCF in my mind based on what is left.

 

I'm definitely excited for Canes/Panthers more than the SCF or WCF
