Oilers make a blockbuster trade: Daviddaughter sent to Isles.
Although, I dunno...each time Edmonton trades with some NY-region team, they get ...Hall, Eberle...I mean, hey...maybe 3rd time's a charm for Sharelli?

An upgrade over Dominic Moore and more centre depth won't hurt since Matthews is going to be off for at least a month.
Still too many holes in the lineup to be considered a true contender though, their forwards are skilled but too fucking soft, and their D is downright awful. (29th ranked in shots allowed per game)

So we get 2 minor leaguers, an ok player and a high 1st round draft pic for two excellent players? Sounds like a Ranger trade.

McKenzie reports the Lightning are sending Libor Hajek, Brett Howden, Vladislav Namestnikov 2018 first-round pick and a conditional second round pick back to the Rangers.

New York Rangers are in 25th place overall this season, and they've dumped half the team, in trying desperately to rebuild.
Edmonton Oilers are in 26th place overall this season, and gave away a 35+ point player this year, for a third round draft pick that likely will never play in the NHL, more than a handful of games, if lucky. There likely are no other deals being made.
What the fuck is wrong with this picture?! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

I dunno, maybe Maroon isn't that good but if you look at the returns everywhere else, I dunno, seems like Sharelli got fleeced again. Sorry, dude...feels like I'm always piling on Edmonton but per my prior commentary about how they should never get a pass after a bazillion #1 overall picks and only ONE playoff showing, this is why I hold a magnifying glass to them.
Looking at all the moves before Maroon got traded, I personally think Sharelli sat on his hands for too long thinking someone was going to come begging for his "asset" and got his @$$ handed to him. AGAIN. By Shero.
@ Edmonton Oilers.
Yeah, taking another look at the wingers that got moved around, how is Maroon's return THAT much worse than the rest? Hartman? Tartar? Nash? Like, using the latter as an example, the guy has 28 points in 60 games. And look at his return. Maroon has MORE points and in less games...I'm not saying Sharelli should've gotten the SAME in return because I'll take Nash over Maroon anyday but still, based on recent production over the last 2 seasons, Maroon should at LEAST net more than just a 3rd rounder.

Looking at stats Nash sucks but watch him all season and he is a huge plus. He is good defensively, great moving the puck, super aware of what is happening on the ice and a big body in front of the net. If there were a stat for further back in the assist (third/ fourth guy that moved the puck)I bet he would have a huge +.
But, it's like a mountain of difference on the return for Nash vs. Maroon. Heck, look at what Chicago got for Hartman! And that kid plays between the 3rd and 4th lines!
Rangers went all-in on risky rebuild that’s only ticket to glory

I see another 7 years of no playoffs in our future.
