Treading water means their record was still not what we all saw by springtime. By end of December last season, they were 19-12-7. So, without pity points, as the "7", they were effectively a .500 squad at 19-19. The Oil caught fire in January going 9-5 and in March, they were outstanding as well.
Is it me or is this funny considering their preseason home opener was "iced out" due to sh! tty ice?
Yes, you can probably take the Arizona Coyotes seriously now ? ProHockeyTalk

Was supposed to be on call this week but had to trade with a coworker, had already given GF and her dad my preseason tickets for tonight to see the Fibby Wings. At least I get a guy's night out instead
Guess I have to shave the playoff beard before the next season starts

Avery was always a clown act. But, it's still interesting to see his take on Torts and etc.

Dang...just read Puck Daddy's announcement that he's leaving and pursuing other interests. I enjoy his writing...always very amusing and has some decent insight. Even if he does not spew how Deano is never wrong and everyone is in cap hell except LA.
Well, if this is the year to get bullish about Canuckian teams, it'd be all about the Oilers, Flames, and Leaves.
On paper, I actually quite like Toronnah's squad and even a bit more than Edmonton's simply because I like the blueline the tree-parts have versus McDavid's. But...the latter does have McDavid. It'll be interesting.

McDavid might be been the only person to get on the score sheet last night, but it wasn't for a lacking of trying on the Oilers part. They pelted Mike Smith with almost 50 shots, and fuck me, one to the jugular and one to his face cage
Start to finish, Calgary looked like an AHL team in comparison

Holy Stanley Cup hangover yum-man.... The Hawks know an awful lot about that. This game is absolutely embarrassing, so frustrating to see our lack of depth and rusty play. Ugh, can only go up from here....
I dunno. Just a hunch. But, we'll know more by the 40 game mark. Definitely was impressed with what I saw from Edmonton yesterday. McDavid is awesome.
They scored more in 3 minutes yesterday than they did in an entire series.
For 1 night, it looks like Hawks may have addressed a few issues (i.e. speed and better fits at wing). But, it's just 1 game.
The start of the season has been like some 1-upmanship between some of the League's stars though.
McDavid went ape-poop against the Flames and then Ovie scores the hattie. But, Kane had some absolutely gorgeous setups and his goal was also insane. Murray had zero chance to save that.
But, if Moogie was here, he'd tell the Pens to trade both their no-name goalies cuz yeah, that was why the Pens got obliterated last night.

I'll be honest... for every time I watch a game, I say a little "thank you lord sweet Jesus" for McDavid. No one in Edmonton takes him for granted. We know just how damn lucky we got, rigged or not.
I'm not some cap expert like Deano's Acolyte, but the Oilers are NOT yet in "cap hell" because the mega contracts don't kick in until next year, right? So, if anything, this is THE year for Sharelli to go all-in...Edmonton has the cap space to really add some nice players if they choose to.
