Hate to say it but the best division is the all-Canuckian one...I swear, every game I tune into is like a playoff-type street fight.

After today's win, the rebuilding Hawks without core players like Dach and Toews have a better record than the Edmonton Oilers.

Pens hire Hextall as their next GM, Brian Moogy Burke as their Director of Hockey Ops, not sure how I feel about those 2 coming to my team, but apparently they were both chosen by Lemieux. Definitely interested to see what they can do

Hextall seems like a good GM IMO.

Just more the fact he used to play for the hated-Flyers that Pens fans need to reconcile in their minds.

Lemieux is going to hire Robbie Brown as assistant GM...just to do a few arm swings in front of his office.

My concern with Hextall is that he never won anything, however the Flyers that we're seeing today have his finger prints all over it and they are a tough team, so I'm willing to see where it goes. Sid and Malkin have a couple good years left so I'm curious to see what he can put around them, but also how he can start to focus on the future of the club. Will be interesting

Yeah, I had the Flyers in mind as I was saying about Hex being a GM. He seemed to have a good eye for developing a team...

The old powerhouses like your Pens and my Hawks are now in that transition period...where that initial core that got the Cups are aging and bridging it will take some eye for talent and seeing what fits well. There isn't a formula though. The Deano-this-Deano-that Kings are an example of some major growing pains. Hawks haven't been relevant for a couple of seasons and last year's dance in the playoffs taking out Edmonton (seriously, not an achievement) does not count...though, this year, they seem to have some spunk and fight with the kids.

The best one seems to be the Bruins who seemed to have integrated the young and old nicely.

Stars vs Preds postponed tonight.

Rightfully so considering half the city's population is freezing in their own homes with the power blackouts, yet the Stars were going to use a ton of electricity to have a hockey game.

Sample size is still smallish but, Hawks may have found a keeper in Finlandian no-name, Kevin Lankinen...

This is after the jettisoned not one but two veteran and proven goalers in Lehner and Crawford. Say what you will about Chicago but they've unearthed some nice finds from Europe over the last few years starting with Panarin.

Chicago seems to find good goaltending more often than the average NHL club I feel over the years.

Hopefully it sticks. I was worried with the trio they had announced but have settled on PK's little bro and Lankinen as their duo this year.

The team has fight but they are still IMO getting out-played 5-on-5 and a pile of their wins are from OT a la the 3-on-3 gimmick (at least not shoot out though) which does not exist in the playoffs. So, I'm quite cautious about this success right now because there is still some mirage behind it.

Hopefully if Toews can return (please?) this year, that will help shore up their 4 lines a bit more and allow for a bit more depth and 5-on-5 strength.

I normally could give or take the outdoor games. But the scenery for this up coming weekend is super cool.

Holy fuck! 4-1 against Washington, no goals by Ovie, shorthanded goal and 2 wins in a row!

The Tahoe outdoor games were a joke. Oh look at our great backdrop, and the ice is crap and the sun is shining.... They resume at midnight eastern after the backdrop can't be seen. Just can't believe they flopped that bad 2 days in a row

My question is especially if it is fake why give it oxygen?

Also, can the Rangers get a break? They finally start a facsimile of decent play and now they lose their best player?????

Sorry. Look, I miss Panarin more than you do. Goddamn salary cap has basically robbed Chicago of this great find.

I think this is a political hit on Breadman...he's basically the opposite of Ovie in the "Russian patriotism" angle. Ovie lumps his patriotism to worship of Putin. Panarin is not a fan of Putin at all but is still a Russian patriot too.

I mean you can only do so much to predict the weather. I still think it was the coolest setting that have tried for an outdoor game. And honestly trying to make it a TV spectacle rather than in person game with fans to me makes more sense. There is not a single outdoor game for fans that has a remotely good viewing point.

I agree, but how do you not plan for the sun? I mean it's only been around a few billion years

The Avs are playing some really bad hockey as of late besides the outoor game. They are lucky they made it 2-2 in the series with Vegas but I have been concerned with their lack of scoring compared to last season for the entire season so far outside of an outlier game or two. The last two games they have played they have looked like a train wreck. They don't belong to be considered even in the top 10 in the power rankings the way they are playing. I have real concerns on them making the playoffs the way they are playing so far this season yet alone being a contender. LA and the Wild are looking like real shots as of late to make the a playoff spot or two.

I'm puzzled as well...I thought they would've contended for the Cup this year.

Like 'em or not...and we like to roast 'em, the Leafs are the one TRUE contender in the all Canuckian division...so, Oilers play 3 games against them and are about to pasted for a 3rd straight one after the McDavids had feasted on the retreads of the Socialist division.

Oops.

Somewhere, Taco be like ...

Bittersweet day...Seabrook announces his retirement...his body just can't do it anymore after all those minutes, blocked shots, hits...

Hawks, during their superpower years, were never the biggest and meanest team but if there was one player who had brought the physical element, it was this guy. And all heart-and-soul too. It's yet another core like Sharp, Hossa, Crawford, that is gone from the team. Sigh.

He was amazingly durable during those cup years, he was a true physical presence and a great defensive player. Fun to watch, sad to watch these power house teams aging out

It'll be awhile before we see another reign like the Pens and Hawks, C.

Oilers had a shot with their 314132421374 first overall picks and McDavid but well, they build a team like the Cowboys.

He's already had 10+ games...he needs to go for the season. Head wasn't just the point of contact...it was the only contact.

I like that they're calling it an "in person Zoom meeting"

3-0 early is a kiss od death. Ask me how I know 🤪

Trick is to let them score first....then put 3 in to the net in a few seconds. Thank you rangers....

Yeah, it's infuriating that this guy is allowed to play and target people year after year. Dude leaves his feet to smash dudes head into the glass and gets 7 games. He's a serial offender and the league doesn't deal with it nearly harsh enough. I don't know how he isn't suspended more, or how he's even still allowed to be in the league playing the way he does
