What the hell is going on with Mike Richards?

A couple of hockey journalists have reported, somewhat cryptically, that Richards’s termination was caused by an “incident” at the border. What incident, and for that matter which border—Richards is Canadian—are still unknown, giving this particular report a whiff of bullshit:
According to ESPN, the Kings were made aware of an incident Friday, an hour after the NHL draft had begun. (ESPN notes that, while the Kings found out on Friday, that isn’t necessarily when the incident occurred.) They were in the midst of trying to trade Richards and the remaining five years on his contract to either the Oilers or Flames. Kings GM Dean Lombardi immediately halted the talks, and told those teams he hadn’t known about the incident.
“He came right over to me,” Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli confirmed to ESPN.com. “He pulled me aside and said, ‘Hey, Pete, this is going to come out. I had no idea. This is important you know so that talks [don’t go any] further.’”

Lombardi did the same with Flames GM Brad Treliving on the draft floor, a source said.
Was he meeting Jared Stoll at the border

Deano should look up the word hypocrisy is the dictionary. He may see an LA Kings logo.

In a brief filed to the NHL and the NHLPA, the team referenced Section 2(e) of the SPC, which states a player agrees "to conduct himself on and off the rink according to the highest standards of honestly, morality, fair play and sportsmanship, and to refrain from conduct detrimental to the best interest of the Club, the League or professional hockey generally"
I guess laying the smack down on your wife falls outside of those rules.

Damn we need Moog in here to explain this one. F U Yummy.

There must be a footnote at the bottom of that page in tini tiny font that says

"Or if you were signed to a ridiculous contract that you can't live up to, and play for the LA Kings, we can terminate it because Moog is always right"

Whatever he did didn't make the news. So it couldn't have been as bad as beating the shit out of your wife. Yet Slapa Tisov wasn't terminated.

Deano never signs a bad contract. Get it right. If there was a Nobel Prize for the NHL, it's got Deano's name on it.

Word is, Jones, Stoll, and Doty were partying it up in Vegas. The same party Stoll got caught for snorting.

And if he somehow gets a bad contract, no way will he'll be on the hook for it.

Terminate! That's how Deano rolls.

How dare you use that name in an accusatory fashion?

Doty is like Superman. He sensed trouble, skated over to Vegas from LA and made sure things didn't get worse. If he had gotten there a second later the entire Kings organization would have been arrested for snorting.

Only the LA Kings and Deano Lambardi, the standard for morality in the NHL (and world) can terminate contracts. The Kings are apparently allowed to use the CBA from the NFL.

black label, just curious but what did your Bruins see in those consecutive picks? All 3 were ranked much lower in most scouting grades...Was there something Sweeknee was seeing that no one else did?

I think they saw Noah Hanifin, it didn't work out that way.

Who would have thought the Bruins and Leaves would be re-building together.

Bruins ship Jones (who was with Stoll and Doty in Vegas) to SJ now...obviously, the Bruins want to keep Jones close to his buds for more Vegas coke-parties.

Mike Richards is involved in an ongoing investigation by the RCMP stemming from an off-ice incident, ESPN reported on Tuesday, a day after the veteran forward's contract was mysteriously terminated by the Los Angeles Kings.

No charges have been brought against Richards, who hails from Kenora, Ont., ESPN reported an RCMP spokesman as saying.

Canadian Border Services is also involved in the investigation, according to the report.

A two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Kings, Richards, 30, had the final five years of his 12-year, $69-million US contract terminated Monday by the team, which declined to comment on why the unusual move was made.

Once considered a star during his time with the Philadelphia Flyers, Richards's production has tailed off in recent years. He managed only 16 points in 53 games with the Kings last season and was sent to the minor leagues for a time.

So, my theory: Richards was heart-broken that the Kings missed the playoffs. I mean, the ONLY team in the universe NOT in cap hell and so well-run by the greatest man alive, Deano, missed the playoffs?!?? Well, not happening on HIS watch...so, Richards, in an attempt to help his team, was trying to smuggle some illegal Finlandians across the border...

Well, given how rare and valuable Finlandians are...well, the Canadian popo would not have any of it. And well, now...somebody's gonna get a hurt real bad. Somebody.

Well, plus...if he gets too noisy, the comeback would be his Bruins and the WTF they pulled the last couple of days at the draft and in trades.

There's also his beloved QB with limp, soft balls issue too.
