Kinda surprising to see Trotz get the heave-ho in Nashville.
I think he's a great coach...aside from Tippett, no one gets more out of a rag-tag line-up than Trotz. If the Leaves were smart, they'd consider him IMO.

AZ has it's own hockey lockout!

F you all.

I shouldn't be so mad. Shanaban will save the Leaves just like he saved the NHL disciplinary office. He and Tim Leiweke will ride the streets of Toronto on a white horse next June!

Possibly, I'm expecting more 6's than 7's this round, but you never know

I hate to say it but your Boston in 5 pick is a bit optimistic. Detroit has been the best team in the league against the Bruins this year based on their head to head records, Boston is the underdog.

black label, we can all see immediately past your fake-modesty about the Bruins. You have a farm-team-esque Pink Things line up against your loaded Bruins who also, have a FINLANDIAN GOALIE who can probably dunk on LeBron James.
You're lucky I gave Detroit 1 win against your Bruins. It could easily be a sweep.

I do have to admit that the Eastern Conference series appear ON PAPER rather ho-hum. Should have no upsets...
West is well, a bit of coin-flipping. If the Blues revert back to the dominance prior to the recent swoon/choke of the Central Title, they'll give Chicago all sorts of fits. And possibly, a team that will be walking wounded into Round 2.
The Sharks/Kings tilt will be definitely must-watch also for moi. Two squads that hate each other with each passing moment and on paper, very well-matched. Could go either way...but, I think LA's Cup experience will be that intangible in a close series. Again, whoever comes out of this series may be limping like a cripple.
Avs are the great story of the year...but, you have to wonder what Varlamov will be like now that the temperature has been cranked up a few hundred degrees. They are almost using the Oilers/Leafs strategy of allowing 35+ shots per game and we have to wonder how this is a formula for success in the playoffs. Their D is questionable...especially for the playoffs. This is why I have the Minny North Stars taking them out (and my one "upset").
Ducks vs. Stars...sorry, don't care.

And whichever team has the most Finlandians will win the Cup.

Avs V North Stars ...... Interesting to see if the old "Defense wins games" comes to bite the Avs in the @ss
Blues V Hawks...... Exciting one to watch for sure.....if the Blues show up...uh-oh for the Hawks.
Kings V Sharks...... Always an exciting series. Bad blood all around. Which Kings team shows up will be the deciding factor.

It definitely will be an entertaining series though, but Detroit's a ways away from healthy
Senior Moderator
Oh right. Zilch and nada.
You really think a team full of farm-team rookies is going to get past a seasoned/experienced Bruins squad? Again, stop with the fake-humble-crap. It's kinda silly.

Only person that thinks the Pink Things have a chance is Fibbityfibs. For all that hard work, the Wings get to play an extra 4-5 games max and then, FORE!!!
Senior Moderator
Jiimmay Howard is not a great goalie and with squad that is not that deep anymore defensively, the Wings will need Jimmahay Howard to steal games? Not going to happen. He's more no-name-brand than Crawford.

I wouldn't find it too far fetched to think Detroit can be a team to force a first round upset.

We are talking about if Boston plays to their abilities and does not treat the Things like some retread and focus on taking care of business, I think this series will be over soon. And it's not because I'm blinded by some biased hatred for the Pink Things. It is what it is. They just are too young and inexperienced.
The other match-ups are far more likely to have upsets than Boston/Detroit.
