I think subinf knows the rule, he's saying that the players need a refresher, so they stop getting called for it.

EDIT: nevermind

I never understood how they can call fouls on plays like that when the player is clearly going for the ball and not the GK.

I think I need to start reading what I type just to ensure that it actually makes sense 5 seconds later...I dont seem to do that a lot and look like a dumbass when I have to explain myself because my wording was poor.

Nice, yellow for Mensah (sp?) on Ghana. Kick right outside the box and the US sails it out of bounds. Terrible...

Is ghana attacking at all, or are they playing for the tie?

an italy win with a tie for them puts them through, right?

They've had some runs. They're not sitting back as much as you would think b/c even if the US scores and the game ends in a tie they're still in...

At this point (83rd minute) Ghana is just clearing and playing longball...

ya,. With italy up 2-0 , the czechs are out. Ghana will advance with a win or tie, USA with a win only.

not looking good for the U.S. They need two goals in 6+ minutes

Edit: Ghana's trying to waste time...

FIFA also needs to do something about these players staying down to waste time. They do it in every game. They should put in a rule that if play is stopped b/c you're down you're out of the game and your team playes down a set number of minutes. I know they have something like that (ref has to let you back in), but I only saw it enforced one or two times...

More cards need to be given out for play like that and less on play where there is contact. It really pisses me off when players lay down when there is no foul. The only positive side is they look like huge pussies because the entire world can see the dive.

I'll admit that the US team is the only team with players that get up almost immediately after getting knocked down. Too bad that doesn't count towards the score

But yes... they need to start giving out cards for that. If people are at risk of missing games b/c of staying on the ground, they'll get up quicker...

It usually gets tacked on to the injury time by the ref

Yeah, but it's never close (time wasted vs time added). They take forever to get up... then slowly get up, then place the ball... then limp back to lineup the kick, then kick it.

Plus, in extra time, no more time is added... right now there's a guy down who's been down for 30 seconds.... killed almost 45 seconds of Extra time.

At least they just carded one of the guys for wasting time...

They were sure talking a lot of trash before the world Cup started. I only saw one good game out of them.....against Italy playing to a tie with 9 men.

The commentators are blaming Bruce Arena for the early exit. What do you guys think?

If the WC wasn't held in the US in 2002 which is the only WC the US played well Arena would have been long gone and the US team would have had a makeover...
