some of you that know me very well know i've been suffering hardcore from ulcerative colitis for 2.5 years.
i've been getting infusions every 5 weeks for the past 1.5 years which stopped working a few months ago. my final option was surgery.

j pouch + temporary ileostomy (3 months)

basically they removed my entire colon, then they take the small intestine and fold it a few times, sew it together, and cut it to create new reservoir pouch area. it takes 3 months for that to heal before they reconnect the newly created pouch back up to the butthole, so during that 3 months i have an external ileostomy.

an ileostomy is where they cut a hole in my abdomen about 2" wide, and pull part of the intestine through. then you wear a ileostomy bag, so when food get's processed, it gets to that section of intestine poking out of my belly and collects in the bag, since the rest of the system is cut off for now while the j pouch heals.

i got a HUGE 6" scar on my belly now too. had 25 staples.
i was at antioch kaiser for the past 6 days and got discharged last night

in 3 months~, i'll go back, then they will reconnect the new reservoir and remove the ileostomy. then i should be all back to normal

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ileo-anal_pouch
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ileostomy

here are pics

right after surgery

25 or 26 staples

overall damage. top left is cathader tube going into my dick
red tube going into a hole on my lower left abdomen which drains fluid into a turkey baster thingy
scar in the mid section
stoma+bag on the right

stoma with bag over it

food. broth and jello

i brought my htpc, hooked it up to a 22" monitor :bigthumb:

all of my IVs. Dilaudid via push button, more narcotics IV going to my epidural

me walking around with all my IV's

the bear has a little stoma mark on it's belly

finally going home

i also had the hiccups 4 times for 20 minutes each and it sucked!

Working Lito? They are having that event in Fremont again @ the Lexus dealership.

Get well Jeffbob! I won't say soon cuz it looks like a long recovery process. I was amazed in what doctors could do when my son was born and have no doubt they were able to take care of you as well.

Thanks! I might make it out to the weekly meets too. However, don't think I'll do it every week though 'cause of the gas. I won't be getting paid all that much at my new job, LoL.

fitment around the fender area is off a little bit since the shop had to do some custom work without my car being there. drive side is off by like 1.5cm, passenger side has a broken tab so i cant put the screw on..
I can live with it for now until I figure something out.
