So, some of you guys who've known me a long time know that I've been suffering from Ulcerative Colitis for 2.5 years now.

Every 5 weeks since December 2008, i got to walnut creek kaiser to get an infusion of a medication which shuts off my immune system (each infusion takes about 3 hours). Those infusions have stopped working in the last few months, and my final option is surgery.

I'm getting my first surgery on thursday June 3rd, which is in a few weeks, and I'll be at Antioch kaiser for 7 days....
i'll be getting an illiostomy and jpouch.
after the jpouch heals for 3 months, i'll get a 2nd surgery to get the illiostomy removed.

each year, i do fund raising and 5K walks for different organizations, but this year i'm also doing a walk for Crohns and Colitis since that is what i'm affected by.
i did fund raising and the walk for March of Dimes a few weeks ago, and was a volunteer at the National Brain Tumor walk the following weekend.

I work for two Search and Rescue agencies and dedicate a lot of my time to training as well as being on emergency searches for missing persons. I've even been seen on the news a bunch of times (was on the news again last week! see my post above!)

my GI doctor and my infusions are all done at the walnut creek kaiser.

i researched the best surgeon, and he used to be at WC, but moved to the brand new kaiser facility in antioch. it's super nice
