Those bumpers are just the popular "blades" they sold as aftermarket parts. The OG bumpers were the same style you are looking for.

Make sure you get the turn signals that mount on the fender, on the side of the headlight. Not the ones that mount on top of the fender. The "bullets" that came on the 57's mounted on the side of the headlight. I love that look!!

The bullets are the signature of the 57. That's what makes it unique.

Oh, do they still have the one @ Kelly Park?? SOTO or something like that?

Yeah, you will have to do most of your shopping at swap meets. Hit up Pleasanton when the good guys are in town. Not sure what other events they still have around here. I think they still have the bug-o-rama up in Sac too.

so after about a year of not having a bbq, finally got me one. Everywhere I read people would say just save up and get a weber. I couldn't afford most of them so I just went with one of their more simple ones. Works just fine for me and the GF for making steaks and shit and the occasional small BBQ.

Thing is awesome. Compared to my last grill (shitty no name $40 target one) the difference is BEYOND night and day No more flare ups, heats quick, nice and evenly, and the cast iron grates leave some pretty awesome sear marks

made some bomb ass steaks last night. Not bad for my first time with this grill

yea i heard alot bout bug o rama...i think that show already happened...i should check up on it...

we took a test drive in the bug 2day...theres a slight linkage problem to 2nd gear...kuz its a 1600cc motor n i dont know what yr tranny is in it...but im prolly gona put a freeway flyer tranny in n that should fix the problem...

its not that big of a deal tho...i just cant short shift it...it has to shift it into 2nd slow n smooth...n u cant just pop the clutch either...no biggie...i wasnt gona buy this bug as a racer anyways...

another thing is that its got no seat belts lol...kinda scary...n the seats r shot...which i dont mind kuz im gona b buying buckets n 4 point harnesses for it...n a roll cage

alrite maaaayb itll b a lil speedy car down the road but not yet lol

the bug is definitely really low...

You will find out how easy all that stuff is to fix. You can swap a transmission in a matter of hours. LOL. Do the clutch and all that while you are at it. Getting a half way decent car is the biggest part. All VW's have lap belts. Just get those for now. Popular seats back in the day were CRX seats.

thx for the advice...those seats r sweet too...i plan on getting some corbeau seats...they got them on a bug site for 440 for a pair or some low bak suspension seats with matching rears...something thatll take a 4 point harness

I love old fashioned charcoal best, but we also use a ss propane grill as well. Love the costco new york steak and ribeye.

yeah actually, i've been using a hybrid approach -- throwing coals in between the propane for the charcoal taste but the propane heat consistency FTW

charcoal is always the best but not very convenient/cost friendly when I just wanna make a steak for dinner. Although I did find out weber makes a kind of hybrid grill that lights the coals using propane and has an ash catcher as well. Pretty nifty.

Haha awesome, will look into that. Meanwhile, coal mostly used in my family when we go mobile cuz its easiest. Never liked the circular ones, just the rectangular kind since it is easier to manage flames and heat levels.

Hmmmmmm beach day this spring perhaps?

Looks like one of the standard racks with some round bar welded to it so that the tires of the bike can rest in it.

You pretty much have to run the narrow/ non flush look to get any turning out of it.

Those racks are pretty strong and are held on well. The roof rails are stronger than any of today's cars.

here she is...my "new" 1957 Volkswagen Oval

the previous owner had studded spikes where the trim is suppose to b on the hood...i took those out...cleaned it...n put black electrical tape for now...ill b ordering new trim in a few days...the electrical tape is my subtle than the studded spikes lol...

then i put the DC decal on...cleaned all the windows...

ill b restoring the interior 1st as u can see from pic 2 its fully gutted...putting in seat belts n new seats r 1st on my list...then carpeting...n then a vintage style radio deck but its LCD display n has AUX, USB, iPOD hookup in the bak...headliner...etc.etc.etc.

wheels n fenders will most likely b the end of summer

o yea n an alarm system whenever i get to it

You got a nice car to start with. Should have fun restoring that. Oh, and to also get some money back out of it... These cars are the type where the money isn't wasted.

sssooooo i bought a DC decal for the rear n fucked it up when i applied it...i got some wrinkles due to the curved surface...so i removed it...n it left a darker imprint of the DC logo...wtf...so after 10mins of thought i went ahead n removed the 1 in the front...when i took it off it was like an even darker imprint...like i had used a stencil to primer it on...i must say im even more pleased with it no since the decal itself had a blueish tinge to it which bothered me...now im gona reapply the rear n leave it over nite n then take it off to get the same effect
