Anyways, for those who did not know...

So weather was horrible today. I was driving home from school in bumper to bumper traffic... then came along a ~2.5-3' deep puddle bout a 100ft long. I had no choice but to slowly throttle through it since I couldn't just speed up and roll thru it. CEL flashed a few times... 10 secs later, it came on and stayed on. ~10 secs later a puff of white smoke came up behind me I couldn't even see the cars behind me.. let go of the throttle, dropped it in neutral and let it roll (~going bout 45). Then i put it back in D when i saw clear concrete w/ no water and gased it, it worked... so i accelerated slowly and exited and took local home. It drove fine but I didn't try to open it up at all since I thought I was fucked already.

Made it home, disconnnectd throttle body, intake, spark plugs. Inside the airbox was a small puddle of water along and there was sprinkles of water in the tube between the TB and the airbox. CEL is still on.
Allowed it to air dry for ~3 hours, vacuumed as much of the water out as I could.
Just a few minutes ago I fired her up and everything was fine. Took it out around the block, was fine, so I took it on the freeway, everything is good except now I have the CEL on.

Does anyone have OBDII (?) Scanner? I need to reset my light. Please!

 

i think Lito has one. you can swing by my dads shop in hayward if you want, he has one too. they can probably tell you exactly what code it threw. give me a call if you want to stop by after work tomorrow. their shop is only 1-2 miles off the Clawiter exit on the hayward side of the San Mateo Bridge before you hit 880.

fuck this rain has been nuts, because its the first rain of the season like 11ty billion ants poured into my house. I spent the entire night setting ant traps and trying to vacuum as many away as possible. I've seriously never seen so many ants in my life. Its so out of control I had to google some local pest control or something. Had to leave a message cause its after hours, hopefully they can come out tomorrow cause this shit is ridiculous

The ants have converted my house to an ant farm. Its crazy to see how many ants are out after the rain, then you suddenly realize that they are all streaming in and out of your house

 

This reminds me of when I woke up in bed covered with ants. The bastards came into my condo and covered my bed. I jumped out of my bed so quick and sprayed my sheets and everything with Raid. I didn't care what kind of damage it caused because the ant count was massive!

It was either $150 one time w/30 day gaurentee or I sign up for $90 down and they come back every 3 months for $90 to respray, and I can call them anytime inbetween for anything and they'll do it for free.

So i asked the dude if I could cancel anytime, and he said yea. So couldn't I just call tomorrow and cancel my service and i'm only out $90? Oh and he forgot to put down the exp date on my CC info

 

I got it replaced for $330 out the door.

But the CL is fucked...that wasn't the only problem.

I think I bent something internally like a rod or bearing.

I'm totally fucked...might need a new engine. FML!

 

damn...every1 is having problems...went out to oakland yesterday...sketchy as hell...hydroplaned like 20 times by the time i was stuck in traffic around by castro valley...they also closed 2 lanes of the newly done 238 highway which is now 3 lanes...i came bak n found out that i have leaks in both my headlites...the driver side 1 is pretty bad...fogged up like a bitch...n left was just a lil bit...resealed it this morning...hope it works...

Update:

DIdn't touch the car all day, came home after work and started the car. Was gonna go meet up Lito to get his OBDII, but then the CEL dissapeared... so took it on the freeway to 7.6k rpm, no problems, drives fine. Cars fine i guess!

woo0! no more stress. was paranoid all day wondering what OBD would've pulled

If I do my own car Friday evening, I will have Saturday evening / after class (2pm)free to do a car. I have a midterm tomorrow otherwise I'd be able to do 1 car a day till sunday.. but might only have time for 1 other car assuming time works out.

Not sure if steve wants a more thorough one, but if I come out a little earlier before the meet I could do a quick poliseal in the morning(~all in one, minimal residue so not much cleanup..but would need to wash the car again prior). Doesn't remove much scratch/swirls but it'll clean it up and give it a little bit of extra shine

I think that engine fits if my memory serves me well.

Found a few on eBay for like $900 shipped.

Would I still need to rebuild those motors?

The 04 TL has something different when it comes to the engine. I believe there is no header on that engine. Probably should stick to the j32 or the older MDX motor.

 

headers are welded on iirc

how much of the engine do you need to replace?

 

I would worry about different ECUs and motor mounts to say the least when it comes to swapping in a different engine. Finding a J32A2 shouldnt be too hard.

Yeah, I was told it has different motor mounts so it's a no go on that option.
