Haha...I'll keep you in mind but I'm not going to get any money from the car so I guess for now I'll just hold on to it.

Not sure yet. It's all about the money.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a new engine because I got this really bad fucking knock in the motor like I busted a rod or piston.

You would know better than me though.

The knock is insync with the revolutions...

I hold oil but have an oil indicator on like I have no oil pressure.

so does that sound like I'm going to need a new engine?

So maybe if it's the same price just put a 3.5 in there or something...

I don't know yet...all the shit is overwhelming me right now!

theirs a complete, we 90% complete, 6spd swap in the bm for 2k which is really cheap. take off the oil pan and look inside to see what could have been damaged. is it pan cracked, chipped, dented?

If I kept the car...

I'd probably do some body work while it's just sitting around on the street like a piece of lowered shit!

Damn, that shit pisses me off!

Now, I'm commuting everywhere on buses and trains...! FML!

Oh yeah, the pan was majorly fucked up...!

It cracked in four places.

I already had it replaced hoping that was the only issue.

As it turns out...it's not.

Couldn't I just buy an RDX motor from the same year and just drop that in...?

Im sorry, I didnt know the car was messed up like that.

Maybe he meant MDX since they didnt make an RDX until 06 (or 07?).

Judging by your description, its possible that you spun a rod bearing. If it didnt scar the sleeve you may be able to get a new rotating assembly and be done with it. Definately pull the oil pan off and inspect.

What I would do is get a junked Odyssey or MDX motor and put your heads on it (as long as they arent screwed) and drop that it. It shouldnt cost too much doing it that way.

01-02 MDX short block, RL pistons, put your CL heads back on, done. Make sure your heads are fine while you're there.

Thats the route I would take too. I always look at an engine problem as a way to make more power

Nice. Think it would run the same price?

Any issues or custom work have to be done there?

Or like if I showed up to a shop with all this stuff they would easily be able to put this together?

I don't have a garage or anything like that so I only have one shot.

Sounds good on paper as long as it doesn't cost me more money?

Stupid question but would that be different engine covers and everything.

Different look?

nf3d- Sorry to hear about your car man, its def one of my favorites.

About your question: no you wouldn't have to lose your engine covers...

The 3.5 MDX shortblock fits right in where the 3.2 would be normally. All the accessories bolt up to it, and then your current types head would be put on top. CF covers and all lol. If you popped the hood it would visually be the same except dudes would be wondering why there getting spanked so bad.

Thanks man...depressing not having a car now.

But I totally agree with you which is why it's going to be turned into a project car.

I won't get anything for it now that the engine is fucked.

Might as well keep it around and do some other shit.

I want to get a Sport Bike and an Audi.

CL will be a project car since I got so many odds and ends already in it.

Really thinking about this 3.5 engine setup, flaring out the sides a bit for a wider look and paint job.

Just depends on how much money is flowing next year.

I've done a ton of research on the 3.5. I'm just saving $ now. You'll need to get an 01-02 MDX OR 02-04 Odyssey short block. Only the internals are different. Your tranny will bolt right back up.
-Have a shop swap 05 RL pistons and rings into the 3.5 block.
-Remove your engine and take your heads off
-Put your heads back onto the 3.5 block
-Put the engine back into your car.
-I believe you also need the MDX/Odyssey A/C bracket.
Check out TypeR and CleanCL Dyno #'s. They did the 3.5 auto.

**Getting a used shortblock is the best $ saver. Just have it inspected to ensure it's all up to spec.

No need to change connecting rods? Reuse the cl crank?. U would need to run a standalone or piggy back, right?

No the CL ECU can handle the 3.5. You should probably get an adjustable FPR just in case. Not to say that with proper tuning you couldn't get more out of it though.
In the 3.5 block, you only have to put in the RL or CL-S pistons, both work. Everything else (crank, rods) are from the 3.5.

Adj. FPR is reccomended. Also get a wideband and keep an eye on AFRs.

Noah, to answer your question it should be around a 20hp gain (maybe more?) and much more torque. You'll definately feel the difference.

Go for it. Dont let that pretty CL die.

This is exactly the type of info. I need!!! I'm a mechanical noob! Thanks!

And yeah, the more I know about this the better for me to be able to source the parts in phases.

I don't want to let the CL die yet...

You only need the short block (lower portion of the engine...contains, pistons, crankshaft...). The upper part of the engine - everything above the pistons including alt, starter, bla bla - will remain the same (CL-S).

J35A3 = 01-02 MDX
OR
J35A4 = 02-04 Odyssey

Ok. So technically I could just re-use all those components from my engine if I just bent rods or piston?

You don't have to worry about mounts.

Say for instance you only bent your rods/pistons and your cams and everything else are fine. Then you only need the 3.5 shortblock + RL pistons. Everything else stays as it was. Check out this link for a visual of our engine...

http://oemacuraparts.com/partlocator...layCatalogid=0

I'm by no means an expert on this...for the real good info look on that OTHER site where all the 3.5 builds are done. I know you're a member there...
