Well I am afraid I am out I accidentally double booked my time I am supposed to be a Motorwerks BMW tomorrow at noon for the customer appreciation event they have going on. Plus my car has been there since Monday with a gggrrring noise that has yet to be found and I'd like to talk to someone face to face and figure out what is wrong and how long it is going to take to fix it as I am out of town Wednesday to Sunday. I am sure they'll want the loaner car back while I am gone.

i think you will have better luck posting on a bike forum. Because you probably wont see any reply until next year besides mine or not at all.

Yes every one seems to hide from the thread in the winter. I think we should stay more in contact in this thread than what we currently do.

I bought one this past week from a buddy, just looking to get some basic knowledge on upkeep, things to do to it, things to watch out for, etc.

Well i had fun yesterday. i got a phone call 5 minutes before i was to leave work telling me my car was finally finished it has been at Motorwerks since 12/2. So i head there to pick up my car it needed two VANOS adjustment units $2800 each plus a few other things and $1000 in labor total $7100 of which i only had to pay $100 as my warranty covered the rest. So i pay and depart heading north on 35W before i get to highway 62 i get a service engine soon light so i head back to the dealer and my SA doesnt look to happy to see me again but they take the car and run a scan and it say it is a bad O2 sensor. So i have a quick chat with my SA and a tech and we deside that the car should stay there and they'll look into it as i just had the O2 sensor replaced back in august so it could be bad cats.

That's what I traded in my E60 530i for the TL. I found TL is very comparable to 5 series.

Gotta love those extended warranties... I decided to get one at the last minute for my TL and I was extremely glad I did when my AC went out and the bill was around $2,400...

it will go into my trash can. lol, No offense, i love the E60 M5, but not a big fan of SMG. 2nd, the body kit just doesn't look right to me. 3rd, the wood trim does't flow with the interior color. I dont know, this M is just wrong. I am sure someone out there might like it.

Yeah that car has been ridiculed relentlessly on the M5 boards it is pretty lame. Well I heard back from the dealer yesterday it was a Bank 2 Pre-cat O2 sensor that failed and of course they don't have the parts so I'll get a status update from my SA on Monday on when it'll be finished. Back in August the Bank 1 pre-cat O2 sensor failed so I guess it was this ones time to go.

Has anyone used a roof rack on their car? I'm finding out that with the rear seat unable to fold down, it's a pain to pack my car up for a weekend away snowboarding.. Debating picking up a roof rack, but haven't heard much on them.

My cousin had one when we were out in Hawaii for the surfboards, but it made quite a bit of noise. I would like something that doesn't make too much noise. If that's not possible, i would like something that's fairly easy to install and remove. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

IMO...best companies out there for roof racks are Yakima and Thule. Yakima carries a "Whisper blade" model and Thule has their "Aero blade" models. Both are very quiet. Now, they are certainly not the cheapest brands out there....but you do get what you pay for in this category. A good friend of mine has been selling these for years at a local shop and trusts these brands only.

Just my

I had a thule rack on my civic and have a yakima rack on my TL right now. If installed properly and with a proper sized fairing(that spoiler thing on the front) then they shouldnt make noticeable noise. You can usually find some nice used racks on craiglist and just go buy new clips for around $60-70 from eriks bike shop, cheapest locally and usually have good stock on stuff. Otherwise brand new with everything, youre looking at about $500 if youre planning to carry snow boards.
