Got my 4th revised tune back from Vit. Going to datalog after work.

Going to get some videos hopefully today as well outside of the car.

My thread will go up when my eDyno (after the tuning process is done) comes back though

 

it's going to be a week, at least. How's the car feeling with each tune? Did you do a WOT tune yet?

 

I got lucky & got my bike for free. Likely cost around $3-4k to build.

Wow somehow I missed the caffeine conversation last week.

Caffeine is also known as C8H10N4O2 if you were in chemistry class.

Most athletes use caffine for a stimulant because it is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor...

In a nutshell, caffeine causes the body to use Triglycerides found throughout the body for energy and leaves the gylcogen levels within the muscles alone. Those levels of gylcogen can then be absorbed by the muscles when needed for energy.

Also, Caffeine is a tri-methyl compound.. meaning it's partially derived from Methane... Your liver and methane don't get along in high doses. Also for what it's worth.. google Caffeine and Osteoporosis and see what comes up

All WOT to 5,500 so far. It doesn't feel any different to be honest. You just have to give a bit more to get out of 1st and casual shifts have to be sped up.

Yea, in my si, I didn't feel it being faster...even with full bolt ons...however, when I mashed the throttle against some other cars, that's when I knew my car was teh shizzz

 

 

Haha, Thanks... I'm just a gym junkie that decided to study the chemistry of a bunch of the compounds I was ingesting when I first started lifting. Needless to say, some of those compounds I don't take anymore.


So I keep going back and forth on exhaust. I had an appointment to get the muffler swapped out and the bumper cutout, but the owner came back and said they wouldn't do it.

Then I was watching youtube videos on how people made it look good... scratch that, How people tried to make it look good. All I found was a BMW that did it really well, but they paid like $1000 for all the work .

 

I'm doing the dolphin tip and calling it a day...the bumper has an angle that'll make cutting a pain.

 

Maybe I can see if one of these Borla Boomer Mufflers would look good with the flare clearing the bumper just slightly...

 

Yea, the problem is you'll have to weld hangers, etc. Creating a custom exhaust is never a cost effective endeavor...especially when you can get a quality one for a low price.

 

Hangers are simple. quick tack weld and a bracket.

We shall see.

I feel like any body shop could do it. People have done it themselves and made it look good.. ghetto people just do ghetto things.

We'll see.. I am not doing it anytime in the immediate future but I am down to cut it. I will just take my time and size it out as I go.

I would actually opt to make the muffler LESS visible if I were going dump.

Custom exhaust is usually cheaper than boxed up catbacks I feel. I could just buy the borla muffler and have the shop add pipes for $120 which would make it like $300 ish total vs 540+ for a catback. I guess it may depend on the shop too.

I'm really like the sound of the invidia/borla and since it's a quieter setup (without the dp, at least) a turn down may be ok...we'll see, I just don't want to have to worry about a body shop farking it up

I do dress nice, but I didn't shop around. Also, important to note that most custom exhaust places use a bending process that crinkles and reduces the diameter of the pipe. Proper catbacks avoid this.

I usually have the opposite effect.. I dress in jeans & t-shirt after work, have long hair and a ratty beard so I usually have trouble getting places to take me serious long enough to take my money.

Most shops that have even slightly modern equipment can do mandrel bends. But, I am with you, I personally prefer a good catback. It's just some of the flare is lost in buying a "bolt-on" product when you still have to get it cut and turned down

 

So I just emailed Ksport and they will soon release the air suspension kit for our car and 9thgen civic. Anyone here interested?

I never really understood why you would wanna pay so much more for a computer that essentially gets the same end result.. guess I don't buy the hype.

 

It is not the computer that kills me, it is the stuff that IT installs that can take a machine designed for windows vista, and make it painfully slow for windows XP. But I still rather have a PC than a mac. I try not to be snobbish, but I admit that I am a PC snob.

 

I love my MacBook pro. It's the most reliable laptop, pc, or computer I've ever owned. I have several friends that bought a windows laptop around the same time I got my MacBook, whether its HP, Sony, dell or whatever they all have problems with the laptops now and they paid around $600 for them. Either the battery/ charger is not functional and it has to be plugged in to the wall to even use or the system is just so slow and corrupted. I'd rather pay the extra bills and have a reliable machine for at least 5 years than buy one every 2 or 3 years.

And don't even get me started on the joke that Windows 8 is.

 

I think to each his own. I've had great luck with my PCs (but, then again, I put anti-spyware and stuff like that). The Macs that I've used have all been company / school issued so it's not a great comparison. That said, Macs do have nice screens, which I'll definitely give props for...I also really enjoyed my Macbook Pro that was given to me at my last job.

 

So I figured this was a good deal and I don't want to "slam" the car, just lower it... what do you guys think? Worth the price?

I will be looking for new struts and shocks, but I figured for the bars and the springs that makes them like $200 each.

The Pro-kit lowers the car 1.2" in the front and rear.

 

OK so its not even a week and my keyless button trunk release is not working.. I only used it like 3 times since owning the car. Anyone having the same issue?

 

Looks like a good deal. I think the "dual damper" shocks probably will lose their ability to damper correctly with the stiffer springs. For a value try Civic Si shock/struts.. they seem to have good luck with aftermarket springs. The sway bars I feel are a must on this car and I haven't even gotten them yet. :\


Call your dealer about the trunk release.. have them fix it.

 

My button seems to work fine. But, if you're key is really close to the car, it might not work.

 

You'll save money and handle / ride better with the H&R progressive springs and just the rear bar. The rear bar will help induce oversteer, counteracting the understeer tendency of the car. Adding both bars, will make it corner flatter, but it'll keep the understeer tendency. The factory bar front bar is also 20mm, so it's pretty big to begin with.

IDK but even the button for trunk release on key fob doesn't work. The last thing I remember doing was customizing my settings for door locks. I did set it back to default though but still doesn't work.

 

The Eibach kit F soft R soft is actually 148lbs/in in front and 205lbs/in in rear. When I first asked you actually said it was about the force more than the size.

The Stock ratings for the Si are 56lb/in front and 50lb/in rear. Both bars together will still induce oversteer just not as exaggerated as if you just had one bar.

 

Wait, I didn't say anything about size in this most recent post, just mentioned that it's 20mm, which is bigger than the stock 2012 si bar. Irrespective of that point, I (and others) stand behind the fact that the modifying only the rear bar will provide better handling.

It's pretty awful.. Lol it had some genuinely funny parts but it tried really hard to be offensive in a really ingenuine way..

Dwayne Johnson is awesome in it.. Underwhelmed overall.. Maybe wait til you can rent it.
