This, and the throttle draws from the intercooler, not the intake (although some SC applications, they don't use an intercooler at all). intake pipe and filter is directed right to the turbo.

Roots style blowers (ie. CT-E, 03 Cobra) have a core intercooler underneath the blower itself and sometimes connected to a front mount intercooler to assist with cooling. As far as my experience with the Cobra the front mount intercooler never moved air for throttle purposes.. The Air Intake did and the SRIs performed better than the CAI (on the Cobra). Sorry if I am confused on what you're saying but just in case I am not the intercoolers don't replace the CAI/SRI. The intercooler front mount helps cool the core and the core cools the air coming out of the blower.

The problem is the you're comparing vehicles with aftercooled / intercooled setups. Also, the vehicles you are comparing utilize different, and perhaps more inefficient, blowers. The fact is the 8th civic si community swears by using a cai in conjunction with the m62 blower. Also note the position of the sri relative to the cai. The sri can only draw air from near the header / downpipe region (which is the hottest area in the engine). The cai, on the other hand, draws air from a much cooler area, away from the engine. If you like, I'd happily pull up some information/testimonials that prove the point, it'll just require some sleuthing (and time).

I feel like the Eaton design on the CT charger is very similar to the Eaton on the Cobra. The Cobra has what the Civic community is calling "aftercooled" I just never knew it to be that. It's cooling the air AFTER its leaving the blower is why I assume they call it that.

I can see what you mean by the position of the intake itself. The Cobra has a front facing and the civic goes to the back of the bay. And, I am not trying to make it those direct vehicles as I know it's not really relevant in that sense but its the only factual information I have to compare.

If there is 8th gens with SC that have compared the SRI vs CAI I'd be willing to read that. But all the speculation is speculation on this or that about temps. The RSX Type-S benefited wildly from a CAI over SRI but it varies from car to car as we have already discussed.

It's worth noting I am not saying you're wrong I just find it worth discussing in depth lol

Here you go (from the 8th gen si which uses the same sri / cai location and blower):

From the tuner:

With the HAI (hot air intake) his average IAT's before the blower were 100-110*F and went down to 70* or so with the CAI. It picked up the power pretty much the moment the CAI was installed. A HAI compounds the IAT's after the blower.

On top of the cooler pre-blower IAT's, note how he is making more boost with the CAI... cooler air == more boost. With the CAI the setup is just performing more efficiently, period.

Welp.. that settles that.. HAHA
Do you know which SRI and CAI he used? Just for reference of design.
The Cobra was the exact OPPOSITE.. it would see more boost with the SRI which actually made it the better option by far. Good to know where the K motor stands on it and that gives me more piece of mind in choosing.

Am I just being difficult?

So I found out today I was approved for my lease. I'm supposed to go pick up the car tomorrow. I'm a bit funny when it comes to things I buy, it's almost like an OCD. I like to be the first to touch it. When I go shopping for higher priced items, like purses or watches, I always ask them to get a brand new one from the back because I know it hasn't been tried on by a lot of people.

I asked my salesperson today how many miles were on the car and he said there were 19. I know that isn't a lot, but I know it has been test driven a few times. While I know that it's almost impossible to be the first to use a car, I'd like to choose one with lower miles if its available. I'm online now and I see that they have two cars with my preference available.

I want to send him an email to let him know that I would like to check out both cars before I sign. Should I let it go? Or is it my prerogative to choose which car I want?

Thanks

If you're leasing do you have the option of ordering an ILX and having it shipped to you? That may affect your deals.

I'm not sure, but I would just take the one they have. I was just thinking since they have two, the other one most likely has lower miles. I'm spoiled because my Honda had 3 miles when I purchased it.

Personally, I'd measure the cost / benefits of your decision. Sure, it's less miles, but for just 19 miles, you're really making the dealer work as they may have to do all new paperwork, etc. If it was 200/300 miles, I'd be there with you, but I just don't see the virtue with 19 miles, especially as the cars are prepped so well upon delivery. Haggling the dealer over the 19 miles issue may not be worth it in the future, when you may need a favor.

That and it's harder to get a deal on something you're making the dealer do loops for.. depending on the circumstances obviously. I purchased my car with like 10-20 miles on it.. those miles go by so quickly that you'd never miss them lol..

48 hours isn't too bad. I used to clock in 50-60 hours some weeks when I was a consultant.

I have 48 at the beginning of today, so I'll end up with 56 when I leave today. I might leave early though since there won't be many people at the office towards the end of the day. I met my deadlines for the week.

The 2g tsx forums are cool. Same old same old. Lots of new members have been popping up lately. Some are even contributing which is good.

Yea, I never understood people who sign up for the forums and then maybe post once every month. Or the person that's active and then randomly leaves, lol...I guess people are busy or don't place emphasis on being active like us. I dunno, I find forums kind of fun...way better than facebook posting. Lol, speaking of facebook, I never understood people who post their opinions on the huge threads with alike 1000 shares on it. There are people who's names are literally attached to some rather polarizing opinions. If I was in HR I would totally be on Facebook and Youtube and not hire people who act a fool on those mediums, lol.

I must reassure you Suit and Tie is the worst of the songs on the album. The rest are much more muscial and less commercial. Give it a listen on www.itemvn.com for free before you buy/illegally download.. not that you'd illegally download it. I am worried about hydrolock with the AEM intake as the times it rains in my area there is POOR drainage and one of my mustangs was submerged to the headlights one time..

I would be willing to drop the cash on it but I am just worried about that.. I can afford to pay and play but I don't WANT to afford a hydrolocked motor

Unless you drive in 1 foot deep puddles, you're fine...I've driven in the biggest rainstorms and there are countless people on the forums who have cold air intakes that haven't hydrolocked. It's only the 4 or 5 outliers that have had hydrolocking that have created the hype. Our ILX is very well blocked from rain: the fog light housing, the fender well, and the cover underneath the engine block any water from coming in. There is the intake vent near the foglight, but that doesn't point to where the filter would be.

I know I can't really complain. This many hours doesn't happen very often. Plus if there is a lot going on like this week, there will be a few other people who stay late too. Then we usually get dinner expensed by the company. I used to hate working late when I first started and was in a relationship, but now I don't care as much.

So thought I would share, I got my Tablet installed in my car. I ordered a bluetooth OBD2 reader and purchased Torque so I will have all the gauges I want without modifying the dash.

Also I must say, the Tablet was installed just infront of the arm rest and runs to the AUX port in the arm rest. I'm going to say that I am 99.8% sure that port bypasses the factory headunit's EQ settings because my stereo sounds amazing off the tablet. The sub in the trunk plays a full range of sound for a sub, not just a partial 30-42hz range.

Anyway... happy friday. I'm at 63 hours for the week when I punched in this morning... but i'm not salary
