^ congrats on the new place!
And congrats to Trentimus on 2,500 mi. Did you hit your 3k as anticipated this weekend?
Rolled 22k on the way into work. Used the heated sideview mirrors for the first time to clear some condensation off them. Took me a min to find the button (on most Acuras I think it's located next to the mirror adjustment knob).

How do you manage to work AND do these massive road trips? I feel like when the work week is over, I want to catch up on zzzz's / handle errands. Plus, I'm not making enough money to splurge on road trips, which get very expensive
#443
Thanks I hope this car lasts 100 times that!
+1 - Road trips however with careful budgeting (which I am sure he does) can be inexpensive.

I hit 4,600 this weekend. Need to take the car for an oil change next week so that I can go another 5k. I'm averaging about 1k a month...not bad considering a trip to ny is almost 100 miles.

Speed, being that you had a K20 before.. and you have had a chance to use the K24 for a bit now..
Which do you like better? Do you feel the smoother powerband was worth the swap of 1,000 RPMs?
It's common that we all agree on the header.. we all wish it wasn't integrated. But, outside of that?

Stock for stock, the k24 coupled with the transmission it comes with is a much smoother powertrain. It's much easier to nail smooth upshift/downshifts as if the car is a dsg. The k24 does feel a little lethargic below 3k if you're in need of some passing power, like the k20 -- though, I should caveat that my k20 when modded/tuned felt just torquey as the k24. In day to day driving, and even when trying to drive spiritedly, I don't see the advantage of having the extra 1k rpm, it was a pain to wait high in the rev band to get power on the stock k20 (5800 rpm).

I have to say I only drove a 2011 Civic Si once and only went through 2nd and 3rd gear.. But, as far as the powerband I had to actually row the gears to get the K20 to wanna move, the K24 revs so quickly and smooth I can't complain.
On that note.. The K24 really seems like it wants to be revved, it's hard to not let it loose after 3K.. I generally keep it between 1.5-3 for daily driving cause it really becomes a different animal after 3K. I am satisfied.

Yea, I like this platform...a limited slip would've been nice.

I do think if they were gonna market it with the Si Motor/Transmission they should of just stuck the LSD and a stiffer suspension on there.. but I see where they were coming from on trying to make it more "Luxurious".. BUT DAMN IT I BOUGHT A MANUAL **AND THE BIGGER MOTOR!! lol
Maybe you don't need a Type-S but LSD, stiffer suspension, and rear cut-out exhaust.. (maybe exclusive spoiler to differentiate the 2.4L model?) I'd pay a tiny bit more for it, even though they could probably sell it at the same price.

Well here's the thing. Back in the 3g tl days, people who opted for a manual got brembo brakes and an lsd fro free. The 2.4 included nothing but a bigger motor...I would've paid 1k extra for the spoiler and lsd.

Hard braking at highway speeds sends the car in a bit of a whirl...

I really wonder how much better this car will act once it's lowered and on some stiff coilovers... Hhmmm

its a sign for you to get one
#463
Or, do I get a downpipe/exhaust?
I think the most logical thing for me to do is coilovers first (appearance, performance must).. Then Flashpro, since I'll need that for EVERYTHING, and apparently these cars run rich as is, let alone on 93 octane.. AHDYTEFU... so much I want to do, so little money to just throw at it.
INDEED.. plus that white..
I kinda regret picking PMM over the BPW

- On another note.. I just requested to give up mod status with ILXforums.. I notice how much fire this car is coming under and how much it will be from here on out.. I'd rather not remain neutral.
#466
Dynamat door kit and bulk pack ordered.. was on pretty significant sale!

No, no.. nothing but smooth rivers here!
I think if you like the prospect of the 1st Gen TSX you will like the ILX!
No one cares about the Dynamat!?
I will do a write up.. maybe some pictures, if you guys want!
#471
Also, what do you guys think Tein or D2? Any other options to look at for coilovers? I was gonna wait 'til spring but may jump the gun.

I hear you.
Regarding the coilovers, I'd check the civic forums to see if anyone has any issues. All-in-all, people seem to be comfortable with both options.

#473
Looking at them the D2's can lower your car over 3inches? I am thinking I'd be satisfied with a 1.5" drop... but, then again I might get greedy. - Did you ever get that swaybar on?

I drove it a few times & it wasn't disappointing with the auto. I wasn't really looking then, otherwise I'd have considered it.

I haven't been able to because I've been swamped at work and have been burdened with unforeseen expenses associated with the move. Jan will kick-off the mod season, rest assured.

Word, I wonder if the whole Eibach kit would work.. front and back...... I dunno if I wanna go there yet though.

Don't do the front bar. Iincrease size of rear swaybar from stock and it will make the car faster through corners (handle better). If you increase front and rear from stock, it will make the car corner flatter but not necessary improve it's speed through the corner.
#478
Wouldn't that only be the case with factory tires..? Hrmm...
#479

If you want a better handling and make your car faster through corners, increase the rear but do NOT increase the front. Anyone who says you should increase the front better give a very good reason why other than to keep the tire's contact patch on the ground because that's cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Now if it's a RWD car, that's different.... but the ilx ain't that.
