Hahaa, nope I didn't stall the ilx. I only have a few hours of driving MT experience, and the last time I drove stick was probably around 4 years ago. So I had to take it kind of slow.

Hi everyone. How did you all adjust to the time change? Waking up to a dark morning was rough -- I doing that.

It was easy to adjust. My room has always been dark in the morning because I put a big blanket over it. Stupid flood light is aimed right at my window at night.

Moved to Arizona 7 years ago and haven't had to change a clock since! It's great to not have to worry about that nonsense .

Edit - random ILX pic from this past weekend at White Sands Nat'l Monument. Cool place if you ever get the chance!

WHAT!? Arizona doesn't abide by the time change? I thought Hawaii was the only outlier...time change should be abolished, it serves no purpose in the present day economy / world.

I didn't know that either about the time switch for Arizona.. That's interesting and I AGREE it serves 0 purpose.. besides throwing people off.

I have been handed some really good cards in my professional life that I luckily didn't take for granted per advice from my elders. The younger you realize "old people" aren't blowing smoke when they say to save up for retirement as early as possible is the best thing I think.. I have been giving up 15% of all my checks to retirement accounts since I was 20 and I am 23 now. Hopefully I'll make more money down the road and can up that amount ^_^

I did the math and at the rate I am at I'll be very pleased with myself by 45... assuming all goes well and life doesn't happen.

Damn, 15%???

I've been doing 8% the past 2 years which I thought was pretty good.

I've been doing 0% and I still feel like I barely have any loot. I figure paying off student loans and outstanding debt is more important.

I wanted to be aggressive now so that itll pay off later.. and I make plenty of money so I feel okay with my checks still.

Speed, it's definitely good to pay down your debts but you always wanna have at least something going.. now is a good time because the market is so low.. you potential loss is minor compared to the potential gain in the long run, as far as 401Ks go.. I was always told to do the MINIMUM if your company matches say 6%.. do 6% of your checks.

But, like I said.. I haven't been burdened by too many unexpected things besides helping out my parents/brother when they need it.

This is the boat I'm in right now as well.
Also what is keeping me from picking up a new car & getting out of my 212k '00 TL.

My company matches, up to 3% I think. Once we get my student loans paid off, I'll be putting some into it. That, and my wife's company is really taking off, so we'll have the extra income available so the reduction to put to a 401k won't be a bother.

It is THE way to go! One way you might try too if you're used to smashing out your debts n such is bumping your contribution by 1% each couple of months. That way the check reduction doesn't "hurt" so much.. you get used to it.

And whenever you're OLD like Ryan wants to be it'll be worth it!

I think it's alright.. It was at the Dallas Auto Show, I think the headlights are dope, but it was pretty whatever for me. But, I am not that into big cars.. the Audi A8 did grab a lot of my attention though.

Impress though the RLX they had on display was rated at 20 City 31 Highway? That sounds good for such a big car.

I say it was whatever but I just saw the price for the first time.. It is definitely compelling at it's price. I was surprised at how simple most luxury cars really are until you hit the 70+ range and even some of those were kinda like "this is what all the hype was about?" The high end Lexus' (cant remember the name but it had a computer monitor for a screen and all kinds of fancy stitching/inserts) and high end Audi kinda take the cake for interior.. If the RLX is the answer to BMW's 5 series it definitely fits the bill. I just dunno how it drives.

Have you seen the specs on the new s8? sub-12 second quarter mile!!! Lots of impressive new vehicles these days. And speaking of impressive, it's interesting to note that the Acura/Honda brands are the only ones that feature a text message reading feature.

Well hopefully some of the RLX technology trickles into the rest of he models. Imagine the ILX with a haptic touchscreen and some led jewel eyes. That might move a few models more than upgrading everything to the 2.4.

All I play now is Halo4. But I've hardly played it in the past few months. Now that it's warm I've been doing a lot of small ongoing projects on my car.

You don't need the factory amp if you're tapping your rear door speakers. I don't know exactly where it is but it looks to be behind the dash or footwell panel on the driverside.

I am aware I could just rip the door panel off and tap off the speaker wires to the speaker, but I'd rather not rip into the door panels if possible. I know with your thread it's not a horrible task to do, but I'd rather avoid it if possible.

I know in the 9th gen civics it's up in the dash behind the driver side plastic, but not sure if it would be the same.

I will find it when i get off work here in an hour and let you know where it's at.

I haven't looked at the 9th Gen Civic at all but I imagine it's in that exact same place. It's rather small looking in the diagram I looked at. But, try that same spot and get back to me.. if not I'll pull some stuff apart for you and find it

actually, the stocker gets hotter than the rock sphere. Its a really dense rock that doesn't really absorb the heat as much as the stock metal. and vice versa during the winters. This thing stayed at a more bearable temp than the stock one did during the icy cold days.

I also fooled around with this knob on my other cars, so I already know which knob I rather use for the scorching sunny days. the grip tape flossy knob doesnt absorb much heat at all!

So I spoke with one of my friends who is a tech with a local Honda dealer. He said that he believed the amp to be built into the back of the radio unit.

I looked in the trunk on the sides... nothing. Looked behind the glove box...nothing... Looked under the driver side.. only found the fuse box. My guess is that it is indeed behind the radio somewhere in the dash.

I am gonna have to say no to that one. It's somewhere else. Somewhere on the driver side. I bet I'll find it.. Gimme a day or two

I did some sleuthing:

1) head unit / radio assembly is made by clarion
2) amplifier connects to the subwoofer which connects to the "active noise unit" (I guess that's the sound cancelling device that emits signals via the sub)
3) I only see one amplifier in the parts catalog and it connects to the "sub feeder" so it may mean that only the sub is amplified by an external amplifier and the speakers are amplified by the head unit. I think there may be room for modification with this setup

Let me know if you guys find it.. I really wanted a full signal for the amp to process vs a filtered signal that doesn't give the woofer everything it can take.

For now I have a JL Audio 500/1 hooked up to an 8" W7 in a ported box ran off the subwoofer outputs. It sounds nice, but can be annoying as some songs the woofer skips notes due to the factory EQ.
