Amazon says the bed arrived...

Need to get home and see if it's still there or if someone made off with a 80lb box...

 

When they say let it air out, they mean it. That foam can be UBER smelly for a few days before airing. I found it very difficult to sleep on it the same night so just keep that in mind for any/all of these out of the box mattresses.

 

^Thanks. I am planning on letting it inflate/air out on a tarp in the garage for the weekend. Hopefully it inflates fully and the smell dissipates.

 

Good luck trying to move it if you do that...those fuckers becomes heavy and unwieldy.

 

I kind of figured it would be a PITA to try to move, but I really had no other choice. there wasn't room to let in expand in the bedroom, and if I put it in the living room, the kiddo would assume it was a jumpy floppy thing and trash it... I will figure out to move it the once time I need to.

OTOH, if the one side never inflates past the current 9" (of a supposed 12") it will be a mute point, as Amazon will be coming to pick the thing up as a return. The center is 12" but one side is currently at 10" and one side at 9" after 18 hours...

 

Just grab the missus and jump in the middle and do the nasty...see if it doesn't displace the edges to proper height.

 

 

I even flipped it over for 12 hours, and one side is still only at 9 inches. This thing is going back to sender, me thinks...

Man.. it's not the first time someone's exaggerated sizing to you Also I doubt Amazon will take the return and just might let you keep it and refund you.

I really do like the green tea mattress still. My Nectar has been holding up well but i still have the green tea mattress in a guest room and it's still very comfortable for a fraction of the price.

 

Feels heavier because of weight displacement when unrolled.

No worries, I am going to call Amazon tomorrow and roll the dice with another one...

I am interested to see what they tell me to do with this first one.

 

Just chatted with Amazon. They are sending a replacement (will arrive Monday) and asked me to donate or dispose of the current mattress as I see fit.

Interestingly, they didn't even ask for a picture of the mattress with a tape measure showing its size or anything...

I told my wife I was going to give her all 24 inches... She was not amused.

 

Swap it out with a mattress in the guest room? If you have one.

 

Put it in the garage and then charge hobos to sleep there. Recoup the cost of the mattress, plus you'd probably get free hobo soup.

It's a king mattress, so no other place to put it. Plus, I feel like some shelter/charity needs it much more than I do. Once the new one arrives and is unfurled, I will call a charity to come pick it up.

 

 

The replacement bed arrived early, on Friday (instead of today), so it decompressed for two days and we tossed it on the bedframe last night. One corner still didn't expand fully (only about 9") but I said fugg it and we slept on it. It was very comfortable and the wifey liked it too.

Moving the old one out and the new one in (alone) was a total pain in the ass...

 

I mean.. he did warn you

Mine spent two full days in the garage getting rid of any bugs...

 

 

What made it hard to move was it's inherent lack of structure, therefore nothing to grab onto. The old Simmons was heavier but easier to move since I could grab the pillowtop and the sides easily.
