Mattress Thread
I was set to buy the Purple but then last month I saw the Green Tea 12 incher go to $219 for a king so I figured why not. I was worried it was going to be too soft but that is hardly the case, not really that soft IMO but I like it. The first week was brutal, my back hurt every day but I read reviews that this may happen so I stuck it out and now we like it but want a bit softer. I figure if we get a year out of it, I'll be happy and then buy a Purple.
I just ordered a purple pillow for my wife but their shipping is super slow so I won't get it until next Tuesday, looking forward to it; any one have a review of it here?

After a few nights sleeping on the pillow, my wife doesn't really like it. She said the Purple part slides off the air booster and if she had to guess, she would guess I paid about $20 for it.
It was $99

Anyone bought a new mattress lately?
Time to replace our mattress. I sleep only like 4-5 hours a night so the sleep i get is important. I've been seeing a lot of new direct to consumer companies popping up and wanted to know if anyone has gone that route. I'm willing to spend $4-5K on a new mattress, but don't want to if I don't need to.
Have bought 5 in the last year
We replaced our aged Stearns & Foster queen for a Tempurpedic king about a year ago. Still happy with it.
When we moved, we got our girls new mattresses & 2 for the guest rooms. Don't recall the brand, but got them at rooms to go. They ran around $500 each, but are surprisingly comfortable. But, I haven't slept for any extended time on them.
Former boss went with a Tuft & Needle, and claims he likes it better than their Tempurpedic that they had before it; at a fraction of the cost.

Got our tempur in 2010 for about $3-4g
cut to now and my wife HATES it. I don’t hate it but now I have to sleep with pillows under my knees or I get lower back pain.
Im very interested in purple but I want to try it first.

Time for an update. I've had this BedinABox mattress over a year now. It was great for the first year but since the last couple months I am starting to suffer from back pain. I tried turning the mattress and it didn't help. I spent a few nights in a hotel and my back pain went away so it's definitely an issue with this mattress. I'm going to call the manufacturer to see if anything can be done. I doubt they will replace it as the warranty only covers sagging and there isn't any visible sign of that.
Most is these direct companies have a 100 trail.....https://www.tuftandneedle.com/lp/pur...SAAEgIsjfD_BwE
It's the same thing with my tempur!
Granted mine was 2-3K but it was great when new.
I too have lower back pain with mine

I know but it’s a pain. And you have to have somewhere to put your existing mattress. I’m in a small condo.
We considered a Tempur but ended up with a Sealy Posturepedic.

Choosing the mattress is a very personal thing, just like choosing the right pair of good hiking boots. What fits me will not fit you and vice versa, and it doesn’t mean that I’m right and you are wrong. Go to the good mattress store and take your time to look around and trying different beds. If the salesman gonna start showing you only the beds that are on sale - walk away from him.
The salesman that you want to deal with is the one who is going to ask you a few questions like how do you sleep. On your side, on your back etc. Question like if you have any lower back pain. Hope you got the picture. And remember, mattresses usually carrying the highest profit margins, so don’t be shy to negotiate the price.and remember, every manufacturer has a very good and very bad models in their line up.

Firmness is likely the aspect that will be tougher for you and your wife.

Has anyone here tried Amerisleep by chance? I'm curious how it stacks up against other competing brands. I bought an Amerisleep Queen AS2 (medium firm) back in December and have been pretty happy with it. About to purchase a king mattress for the master bedroom and I figured why not try something new.
Got the Sealy Cocoon (bed in a box) last week, and so far although I'm knocked out on it, the GF and I wake up with really bad back pain. Even got the firm version so we don't sink in. If it doesn't get better soon I think I might try purple.
