A week with the new mattress and I really like it. I do wish I had gone with the Plush model for extra cushiness, but I'm fine with the medium...though maybe after the 30 days I might try and switch. Depends on what my wife wants.

Took a hot sec to get used to coils again...not used to a bed that bounces compared to an all foam. And the edges felt like you could roll off at first, but that might have been a combo of the bed still uncompressing and, again, coming from an all foam bed.

Biggest thing I noticed is this past year my lower back...all the way down has just felt tweaked and sore. Didnt matter that I started sleeping with a pillow under my legs or between my knees depending how I was lying, or how much I did lower back stretches at the gym. It just felt forever tweaked. And as part of the test with this mattress I stop using the pillow. And I realized sometime over the weekend "hey...my lower back has been feeling normal again!!!" No more tweaked/soreness feeling, and full range of motion back. So...not sure if its the bed, but I'll give it credit.

So, yeah. I'd recommend The Nest Signature Hybrid...

^ To add to this, we've been with the Casper hybrid for about a week now too and absolutely love it. The firmness for us is perfect and having a larger king size bed is amazing when you have a 70lb baby (gold retriever) that sleeps with you. I'm also feeling better sleep and all but that might be attributed to going from a 10 year old mattress to a brand new one so we'll see over the next few weeks. The adaptation from the old one to the new one was nearly immediate and pain free though.

@Sarlacc, how's the mattress been?
I actually was able to test out the same mattress you got (medium firmness). I liked it a lot.
Tested it against a ~10 other box mattress companies and about 30 other mattresses.
I really liked mattresses from Luft, almost 50/50 with Nest Hybrid.

The purple was good, but too pricey for what you get and wife didn't like it.
Brentwood Home, Brooklyn Mattresses, Bear, and Allswell had very nice hybrids as well.
But we kept gravitating back to the Nest and Luft medium firmness hybrids.

Luft actually has a little cheaper special, but Nest offers to dump old mattress, which is actually a big bonus

We've slept on it only a couple of nights and we have both been happy with it so far.
Happy reading...............
Quick update - we love it and the Mrs. said she would have no problem getting the king size. We have to first agree on a new bedroom set................

I really liked that one as well (ha)
It really felt sturdy, great firmness, but comfortable
When I first laid in it, I was like, this feels like a good sleeper

Good motion transfer isolation too, which is a plus
I'm 2x my wife's size and I switch from side to back
Plus I get out of bed in the middle of the night or slip in late

It was tied 3rd with the Bear hybrid for us
Mostly preference to something a little plusher to her liking

Mattresses were fairly simple pick for us
They're all mostly great in the showroom
The bed / bedroom set decision is the shit part
I want a no compromise base, but she wants some fancy shit

Bed alone is 2-3k in that compromise
I'm trying to pick a frame to match a solid base currently
Keep it under 1500

Get to fuccin without bending slats and waking up the neighbors

I still really like it. Very comfy to me. Lower back is still Ooooootay!

In the spirit of updates, I'll do mine too! Still love it, still no pain or sleeping issues with it. I sleep like a rock every night, would buy another Casper in a heartbeat at this point. Also, the Casper sheet set is absolutely amazing...so much so that we bought two more sets because they are 50% off right now. If anyone needs sheets, check these out they rock. FWIW, we got the supima cotton ones.

Ah got it. Most "real" bed frames won't need the metal base anymore anyway, so you can just throw that away at this point. Also, the wood sets will almost always have a center support. If not, look for a different one because there were even more shortcuts taken elsewhere.

A $2k-$3k wood bed frame is pretty part for the course if not on the low end. Buckle up buttercup, that's what it's going to cost you (at least) so get the wallet ready. After all she wants one thing, you want another so you'll compromise and just do what she wants anyway.

I'm not talking about a metal base for a box spring
I'm talking about something more like this:

You can buy them at Target too but only the lower end non-hybrid models.

Whatever though, they're comfortable and a good price so send it. They have stores around too if you want to try them out.

Yeah I checked out one of their stores, they're good
We generally liked the Nest Alexander Signature Hybrid and Luft mattresses better
Plus the lifetime warranty and 50% discount past 100 day trial, plus can exchange firmness layer, etc

I debated about getting my kids those to replace their aging crappy mattresses. But my kids sleep very hot...they sleep in their underwear and still sweat. So, Im weary to get those as foam is typically warmer and I question if those cheaper foam dont have the "cooling tech" more expensive models like like our former Tempur had.

It's definitely cool to see the different types of foam tech out there
I thought most of it was marketing mumbo jumbo
But seeing the different types of engineered foam, shit is pretty dope

Gel infused, copper infused, some even have a mix
I felt one that was super fucking cold, can't remember the tech
It stays super breathable and has some type of infusion which makes it cool to the touch

Agreed but those "cooling" foams just feel fake cold. I don't know how to describe it but I didn't like that sensation myself.

FWIW, I sleep warm to hot and have no issues with the normal Casper but we'll see what summer holds...

I sleep "warm", and usually have the temp pretty low if it were up to me (it's not, as both kids sleep without blankets, so the heat is set at 72... ). The wife sleeps HOT and has had no problems (other than when she was preggo, but she was then). We have a padded topper on it that may aid in controlling temp, although it's not advertised as "cooling". I only put it there because one Amazon review recommended it and I know you have to keep ANYthing from getting on the foam mattress itself. With two little ones, I was not taking any chances.

Here is the mattress cover I bought:

+1 on Casper sheets! bought a couple sets the last time around when it was 50% and their Supima sheets are top notch

We have Calvin Klein fitted sheets
I doubt I'll ever go another route.

It's by far my favorite.
Super fucking soft, breathable, easy on, off.
King size is the same size as your mom's panties, etc

My Zinus sleeps pretty cool but just saw an add for The Pod, which cools with water and an app or something. I keep meaning to look at it but MM's Accord thread is consuming my time lately and probably pricey for kids.

So, my wife says she has been having some mid-lower back pains in the morning. Not sure if its the mattress or not, but I decided to give the luxury firm topper a try. When I called nest they ask questions about sleeping positions, etc to try and suss out if its the bed. They ask what kind of base is the mattress on etc. Once I got past all that you have to take a few photos to show the mattress isn't damaged and is on the kind of support you claim. They say they send a team who comes out to replay the topper and take the old one away.

To this I said, "Well, we aren't sure the firm will solve or problems or if we'll like it as Ive grown to like the mid-firm a lot. So, I dont want to be wasteful and just get rid of the original topper just yet." So, the person thats OK. Its not typical what I am wanting to do but they'll set up its up as Im buying the topper. Then, I'll 30 days from receipt to make a decision and I can return whichever one for a full refund. Turns out the toppers are only $200...which is better than I thought. I also have it easy as they have a brick and mortar store close by in Santa Monica so I wont have to deal with shipping whichever topper we return.

So, they are being pretty cool about working things towards how I want to deal with them.

Should have the new topper to try by the next week.

This all said, I still VERY much like the mid-firm and part of me still wishes I could try the plush...but Ive grown to like the mid-firm...so perhaps I'll grow to like the firm...as its still somewhat soft compared to other mattress' "firm"

So...thats only for King and Cal King that can do that. It sounds like, from the conversation I had with them the other day, that they just put two halves in them if you choose to get a "split" firmness. There person I had talked to said, "You dont have a have King so we cant just swap out that half."

So, I switched out to the firm...I'm not loving it. But I can deal with it. It all depends on how the wife's back feels after a couple weeks...personally I'd prefer to go back to mid-plush (secretly still wanting to try plush...)

Do you think the plush layer will make the mattress less resilient over the long run?

possible. But hey $200 to replace it after however many years if it does start to wear out. No big deal to me.

I think mid-firm is probably the best way to go. But I’ll confirm after a couple weeks.

Not exactly a mattress but I picked up a pair of the OG Purple Pillows from the brick and mortar store over this weekend. Gonna take it for a spin for the next 100 days to see how I like it versus the Nectar foam pillows that came with my Nectar mattress. So far so good, the grid is providing some much needed back near support when I'm sleeping on my back but will report back after a few more months if i decide i want to keep it ... A bit pricey at a Benny per though

Day 2 of sleeping on a King Nest Alexander Signature Hybrid
It off-gases like a motherfucker.. didn't expect that much.
It also sleeps hot for me, but have some wicked sheets coming in.

But horrreee shettt do I feel like a million bucks after I wake up.
I even had a rough night of training last night, fucking sciatic nerve firing
Small sprains and pains in my lower back.. legs shot.

Slept most of it off.
I still have some pains from major inflammation points
But it actually let my body recover. So far, loving the mattress.

First night I was moving a bit, but because I was still in the habit of switching side to side.
Last night I slept most of the night on my back flat.. like a stone.
Good shit.
