Microsoft: Xbox One News and Discussion Thread
Let's hold out longer..
Microsoft: The Kinect must be connected to play games and we cannot sell the system without it included.
...:::pre-sales stay low::...
Microsoft: We are offering a core system of the One at $399 without the Kinect.

Theres no way thats happening. I think it will help them I think and I'm fine with it, if developers actually make more immersive games in a non gimmicky way. It will take time though
Honestly I'm a little frustrated MS didnt find a middle ground. Really all they needed to do was figure a way around the 24 hr check. Either by having a particular signature on each disc and when you first pop it in, you need internet. Then you're good to play that game without internet so long as you have the disc.
Then fire the PR team.
Ohh and the family sharing, if its possible to have friends which it probably was >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> sharing discs

Well, I'm not an F1 driver (although I am in my head sometimes), but I bring my X360 with me on race weekends since my trailer has an electric hookup.
Agreed. They just needed to find a compromise instead of completely backpeddling and turning the XBone into the X360 v2.
I still won't buy an XBOX b/c of XBOX Live. I don't play online and I'm not paying M$ a fee to access services I already pay for (Netflix, Hulu+). PS4 it is!

Yes but with PS+ you get a free game every month, plus other freebies. Every one I've talked to that has PS+ loves it. Xbox Live is a different story.
And with the PS3 and PS4 IIRC you can still use social features, Netflix, etc without a paid membership.

Actually it's a free game a week. Last week I got Uncharted 3. Plus they give out sick discounts. I got the God of War game that has the 2 PSP releases for PS3 for less than $10 digitally d/led.
not that the games are of the same caliber, but there are always hoards of free games on the XBL marketplace... most are independent developers, but there is constantly free shit and even some pretty popular arcade games that go up free for a weekend and whatnot.

doesn't matter, 360 controller still is and always will be superior to the Dualshock 3
those triggers were god awful.
I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on the controllers though. It seems like the PS4 is much improved, but the XO controller still looks great.

I mean seriously.. you fanbois don't care that Microsoft is nickel and diming you on everything? Adding bluetooth would have barely raised their BOM cost and made the experience much better. I guess Microsoft is taking a page from Apple.
And to everyone who bitches about the controller. Make sure you stock up on batteries and keep them charged. Oh.. can't use the old play and charge kit, don't worry.. the new ones are only $99.99.

In no way am I a fan boy, I'm not even a huge gamer, it's just that the Xbox has the games that I play (Forza, Crackdown, and Halo). If FM5 was coming to 360, I wouldn't even consider the One, but sadly that is not the case.
I'm not pre-ordering the One, I doubt I'll even have it by this time next year, but it's something that I'll have eventually. As for nickel and diming, that happens everywhere you go. Want cheese on your burger? That's an extra dollar. Want to balance AND align the wheels on your vehicle? That's an extra charge. It happens everywhere and more often than you may think.
This is just another example of "you've gotta pay to play" and if you can't justify the cost of purchase, continue playing what you have. That's what I'll be doing until all of my other expenses are taken care of.

Play and Charge sucked.
The dual battery charger is the way to go. Buy 2 batteries and that and you're set. As much as I play, one battery can last me close to 2 weeks.
Also, the headset, I used the wireless one since it came out, and I still have it. Loved how light it was, it fit nicely and kept a charge for the whole day, literally. All 8 hours.
I did some uhh...field testing...

Doesn't bother me that the 360 was missing bluetooth.
Well said, Tyler.
And Maj, link me to the price of this play & charge. :tapsfoot:

I think you're in the wrong thread. I don't mind paying extra for the Xbox controller as long as it's nothing like the PS3 controller. Besides, you sound like you're giving away all your savings for a gaming system. What's another $20 here and there when the system brings you tons of entertainment. People pay $5 for coffee every day.

Hands-on with the PS4 Controller - YouTube

The One disappoints in a bigger way. It doesn't really advance itself. There is hardly any innovation and the user experience seems to take a buttfucking before it's even out the gate. Add on the usual nickel and diming..

Does it mean I won't buy it, no.. but I can rant.
In regards to nickel and diming happening everywhere and pay to play.. There's a difference between expected cost of ownership and nickel and diming.

Go on..
That's the only reason I own one (actually two). I bought the first 360 elite.. then after RROD, 3 fixes and finally board failure, bought the 360.5 gen. I bought the elite because I loved the original XBOX and I still do. It was perfect. The 360 was a failure to me.. very disappointing. If it weren't for certain games, redesign, kinect, black friday deal, I wouldn't have bought another.

My Xbox is still running strong (4 years after purchase) but ironically my PS3 died on me a few years ago. We all have different experiences.
Also, you do know we have a PS4 thread?
I've heard this story about 20 times on this board from you. Repeating it over and over doesn't make it any more interesting.

So you're saying your PS3 died in 2009 and you bought a 360 to replace it.

My original 60gb backwards compatible PS3 eventually died on me as well after 4 years of ownership. The difference being, I put at least 50x hours on the PS3 as I did the 360. Who would blame me, free online play, blu-ray drive, etc.
I've reflowed 12 360 boards and only 2 PS3's. There's a big difference in build quality.. or lack of in regards to the original 360.
I know we have a PS4 thread, but I have nothing to say there.

never.
