Microsoft: Xbox One News and Discussion Thread
I'm interested in all the non gaming stuff, which should be a big part of it. Rumors are that they're signing deals with cable providers so you can use this instead of a cable box.
Give me 10bit h.264/265 video playback support from a network drive and ill buy one

And also I love how there's a fios app, so when I do move out I could mooch off my parents and watch FIOS

This is now more of an entertainment console than anything.
Its supposed to be able to overlay over your tv/cable box. Well a rumor at least. Imagine saying xbox change channel to TNT and it does. (kinda doubt it will be able to do that though...)
But this could be the google tv/apple tv we've always wanted?

A appleTV or Roku is a much less expensive alternative and probably has less of a learning curve.
Otherwise...a PS does everything the xbox does from a multimedia standpoint...and doesnt charge you for it.
Then youre sitting there going "fuck...I just said 'xbox change my channel' like a complete jackass and I sound like a dork"
And you'll never use that feature again.
But TV I forsure can see myself using voice, if it ever happens, and i dont think I'll sound like an ass for the times i'm not alone
I could see it being an add-on. If it requires little if any support from the 3rd party developers than it could take off because it would work with pretty much every game out of the box and developers could release an update the enhances it's capabilities with their game.
I can't use kinect at my house because we have a coffee table. And its heavy and we dont move.
I've never tried kinect in my living room but yea I opted not to try it for that reason
Thanks for posting this though speedemon I had not seen this before. I have a Kinect but it doesn't get much use except for Kinect specific games. I could see this being used a lot more.
this would be really awesome if they get it to work properly. My favorite was when they overlay your view and have the soundwaves pass by when you shoot. That was epic!THat and miss firing bullets going by and leaving the screen, amazing.
I watched the stream and I'm in love, though I was watching it more for Forza 5 news more than anything else
8GB ram and FINALLY being Blu-Ray compatible are both huge selling points for me.

+1 on title change, thank you!
And +1 to Tyler. 8BG of RAM and Blu-Ray
Also, I was forced to watch in SD but I could still see the flake in the orange paint on the McLaren P1 during the Forza 5 trailer.
This system is setting the bar HIGH. I will be purchasing

Very interested. The integration with TV is nice but will it work also with my DirecTV DVR or does it only work with the built in TV changing for antenna. Plus the browser/game/Skype "Snap" combo is really cool where you can multitask.
Game Consoles had a good run...now they are doing nothing but competing for best home theater/how to kill the used game market computers under a game console guise.
Nintendo tried...they failed with their horrible implementation.
The last hope is seeing what the Ouya can do.
Otherwise...this is all garbage. boring garbage at that.
